As cool as SSJ is, Oozaru is still the greatest (ape) in my opinion. I wish more was done with it. Though I'm glad it didn't become over-saturated like SSJ did, and that it's use was limited to make it feel epic and actually scary. I do adore the way Goku tapped into the power of it during the fight with Demon King Piccolo. It was just raw! Like kid Gohan tapping into his full potential through his rage for a split moment. Also, I love that it was the key to unlocking the ultimate SSJ form: SSJ4.

I wish we had a non-canon spin off about the Saiyans and the Oozaru stuff. WITH 90’S ART STYLE.

In reference to Universe 6 it would've been cool if they sorta went in the GT direction. Super saiyain 4-esque in contrast to Universe 7's God-Ki instead of making them just more talented saiyans

If I could time travel back to the past when dbz was being created I would of given toriyama the idea and drawing of ssj4 to use as the legendary super Saiyan and from there the following ssj forms are golden

I think beast gohan would have been a good way to use the oozaru form. It could have been similar to ssj4 where gohan would turn into mystic oozaru (or however the ultimate transformation is called) first to have a kaiju fight against cell max and then turn into beast after managing to control the oozaru with piccolo's help.

I'm really glad that this has been brought up because it's so true the Oozaru just seems so neglected as it's really or was a big part of the Sayian story. I'm hoping that we'll get more explanation on the Gohan Beast form and the writers will correlated to it the Oozaru form that the Sayians have resting within them.

And for all the reasons why atleast my self is why when ssj4 even though not cannon came out we loved it cuz it brought that power of the sayian heritage back

It would've been awesome had they kept Oozaru as a frequent Transformation, imagine Goku going Gold Oozaru vs Agnilasa then Ultra Instinct Oozaru vs Jiren.

I honestly wish we could see the Oozaru form more in later media. The closet we get aside from GT is the form Broly used during his early battle in "Super Broly' where he used the power without becoming one (which is still cool)

The shock of Goku snd Vegeta over Universe 6 sayians not having tails as neither of them had tails for years at that point.

You know how they could bring back Great Ape? They should make it the next evolution of Ultra Ego, as UI is a reflection of Kaioken and Vegeta kodes his eyebrows in both forms

As I got older, I made up the logic of Saiyan tails were only meant for children as an “emergency life preserver” if the battle, taking over a plant got out of hand. Then as they grow an mature the tail would be removed, to allow transformations from inner power and limit breaking moments But I feel like the Saiyans became to reliant on the Ozaru form “King Vegeta Era” and they never pushed themselves to breaking point before just using the trump card to end the battle. Which at that point they were team whipping planets and were a rotten bunch; they didn’t need anymore power😅

Despite the MANY problems with GT, Super Saiyan 4 is probably one of my favourite transformations in Dragonball because it made the Oozaru relevant again! Imo, Akira Toriyama missed an opportunity when he decided to never let Goku get his tail back. I think it could have been thematically appropriate to have him regrow it when he turned Super Saiyan for the first time as a bit of symbolism that he’s regained the power of his saiyan heritage. If you think about it, it’s a little odd that super saiyans (originally) had literally nothing to do with the great ape. The ultimate form of the saiyan was just… unrelated to that *other* form they had.

I think it was a design decision, it would've been difficult to work around an opponent when Goku and Vegeta are way bigger. Then the tail itself would be an easy target and we don't really know if the Super Saiyan transformation would really combine with the Great Ape one like we saw in GT. The only one who can give us the answer is gone💔

Yeah, whenever i bring up the actual reason as to why Akira Toriyama got rid of the tails, no one actually believed me. I respect Akira Toriyama and all but this has to be the dumbest reason as to why he got rid of the tails. The other things you mentioned should have been the things he should have been worried about. What if that 10x multiplier was refering only raw strength like from mass and that's it. They can't really reason and use more than some basic Ki control in that form, right? So training to control that form like Vegita could yield some higher power multipliers. What if Oozaru got trained like Super Saiyan?

U6 should have evolved to have the ikari form due to evolution. With Broly being the only u7 sayain who can do it as well.

Oozaru will always be my favorite transformation Akira Toriyama created, the form had so much impact and it was the main ability that made the Sayian race distinct as an alien species. Which is also why when it comes to Super Sayians forms, Super Saiyan 4 will always be number one for me, because it went back into that primal side of the race by merging the Super Saiyan and Oozaru, making it actually feel like the true pinnacle of the Saiyan races power. Say what you want about GT as a series but Super Sayain 4 is just a superior transformation for the Saiyan race narratively then Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue ever will be imo. Shouts out to Broly in Super for channeling the power of the Oozaru though, that was badass and it at least showed us that they haven't completely buried the Oozaru form.

I think GT did some things better than Super in that way. Super Saiyan 4 to me always felt like a pull on the ancient power of the Oozaru, and so if made a lot of sense in that way. Super Saiyan God and Blue are cool but I don’t feel connected to them in a way, like they’re some kind of ancient power sure but not one we’ve seen.

Canon Broly was an homage to the Oozaru. He harnessed that power in his humanoid form. Did we forget that? That was a genius combination of old and new Dragonball

Sayonara Akira Toriyama, Sayonara..... To me Ozaru is homage to the pennicle of human/saiyan lineage. Being based on Sun Wukong which in few depictions does turn into a giant ape(the king of primates). If SS4 is their beastial heritage, and God is their divine form, image air/atmosphere form hence Sun Wukong is seen with his staff someone made a nimbus goku fusion and a new DB series should pay homage to Sun Wukong and use his relation to the skies.

Z and gt Kool super is what makes supper Saiyan water down and ending up being to much

300-400 isn’t moon level. Master Roshi was at 135 when he destroyed the moon. You could add a bit because he was full power, but definitely not more than 250 because that would have put him above King Piccolo and he was at not point in the original series stronger than him. Moon level is more like about 150 and planet level is at most starting at 17.000.

They dropped the ball with the Oozaru form all because they didn't wanna draw ✍️ it anymore 😒

Personally I think that the Oozaru is a bit overrated. All it does is strip the character of any individuality by turning them into a giant monkey that’s visually indistinguishable from other users of the form other than possibly using Saiyan armor. And you lose the underdog effect when it’s a giant creature protagonist vs a relatively human sized antagonist.
