Hi Clark, thanks so much for this. I am just at the point where I have to put all this to the test and, for the first time in my life, negotiate. Until now all communication with HR was via email (the interview was on a video call, but did not include a rep from HR). Also, as I have never done this before, I do feel more condifent in writing than I would in online conversation. In another video you mentioned 'so much can get lost in translation'. But is that still true in a post-COVID world? That, plus HR having never called me is making me hesitate on how to best approach negotiation.

Thanks so much for watching and your comments! Your negotiation starts with how the potential employer begins the negotiation process. What I mean by this is they email, phone or send a letter with the offer information that starts the process and you can respond accordingly. What you need to make sure of is that whatever terms you agree to as part of your offer (i.e. salary, vacation time, benefits etc.) is sent to you in a written offer format that is signed by both parties. That offer forms your employment contract. I hope that helps and you can see more videos in my Salary Negotiation playlist: kzfaq.info/sun/PLFvNFQ-aZuZciW4lncwD_SWpqjTvmqEMK Good luck and please reach out with any other questions! 😀
