People are so shocked the artist couldn’t think of a salary but that’s just the reality of being an artist in general. Artists work off of clients and commissions and if they do work for like a company or studio, the starting rate is like 15k at most. Marketing and business analytics going into 90k 😂 I just didn’t that degree… either they can afford to stack on internships instead of waiting tables in school (and still get lucky), or they’re in a ridiculously high expense area. In Atlanta, entry level business positions that pay over 60k basically don’t exist, and in my little Appalachian town I had to settle for a “sales” job just to make over 45k

It's sad because 60-80k a year is like 40-60 after taxes. How the heck can anyone live comfortably off that income. Inflation and taxes are insane with this administration and its only going to get worse. On top of that, these kiddos are starting their lives off with 10s of thousands in debt. Why do you need your company to trust you? You're not marrying the company. You just need them to pay you on time for as long as you're working there. Workers know the company will fire them if it improves their bottom-line, and companies know the worker will move on the moment they get a better offer. That's exactly how it should be.

@@holyconcertking lol sure. I've experienced financial hardships and been grateful for income. I've had fantastic bosses and terrible ones. And i treated them all accordingly. I stayed at a job for six months more than I planned to as a favor to a manager who was kind to me and helped me when I needed it. But I've never been so grateful that I'd put my 'loyalty' to a corporation over my own career growth and financial well-being. I can't even imagine what that'd feel like. I don't think any company has ever been so grateful to me they'd take a loss to give me a pay raise.
