Salisbury Steak And Gravy 100 Year Old Recipe. This dish will bring back warm memories. You can cook it in a skillet on the stove or pop it in the oven and warm the house up while you enjoy the aroma. This recipe is budget friendly. You can use any ground beef in this recipe. I prefer chuck or round and watch for sales. You can find it reasonable again. You can make extra and freeze leftovers or just have it twice.
Without the egg and breadcrumbs you can get about 4 patties out of a pound of meat. If you add the breadcrumbs and egg you can get 6 patties out of a pound of meat. I make them both ways.
Here’s the good news; tasting side by side, Bret says he likes the patties with the breadcrumbs best. Taste-wise they are the same. The texture is different. The patties with the breadcrumbs are softer. He says they remind him of the TV dinners when he was a kid. This recipe will give you a stress-free meal. You can make your steaks and while they are simmering, you will have plenty of time to get the rest of the fixins for the perfect dinner together.
Remember to put God first! :)

I am so thankful, soooo thankful to God. I am a two time cancer survivor. As a result, my vocal chords have been removed, and I can no longer speak. I also lost my left leg to amputation, due to serious blood circulation issues. Truth be known, it was those things that brought me to the cross. God woke me up... He loves me, and I am saved! Every day, I give heartfelt thanks - often through tears, to God. I have my own home, mortgage free. I have a roof over my head, heat when it's cold and a/c when it's hot, and running water. I have a pantry, refrigerator and freezer full of food. I have two wonderful dogs who love me, and I, them, unconditionally. I have never been so blessed in my entire life! Quite honestly, I've never been THIS HAPPY my entire life! Thank you Lord!, for waking me up! All glory and honor belong to YOU!

I'm thankful for the Hillbilly Kitchen show. You always have home cooked meals made just the way I like them. Also you tell us different ways to do things or give us substitutes to use. I appreciate your advice on how to save money whether its using a different cut of meat or using a spice rather than the real thing and it will taste the same. I like when you give hints for diabetics or other types of diets so they can enjoy the same meal. You always show how a meal can be stretched to feed more without sacrificing flavor. You're the complete package--like cooking with grandma. Bless you for always saying "Always remember to put God first." I love hearing you talking about our Lord and reciting scripture. It's great to see exactly how a meal is prepared. Thank you and God bless you and your family, Becky.

Becky, I have so many things that I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for each new day the Lord blesses me with for I have several health issues, but He keeps waking me up every morning. I’m thankful for my husband of 51 years of marriage, who gets up early each day and goes and works so hard to provide for me. I’m thankful for the four beautiful grown children that the Lord blessed us with. They were all preemies but all grew up strong and healthy. I’m thankful for eight precious grandchildren. I’m thankful for channels like yours who aren’t ashamed to proclaim the name of Jesus. But most of all, I’m so thankful that God in His grace, sent Jesus to die in my place for my sin, for everyone’s sin. John 3:16 ❤️

I’m thankful you do your videos. When I was a teenager a friends mom made creamed eggs on toast. I asked her about it and she said she only had four eggs and about twelve kids to feed, so she hard boiled the eggs chopped up the whites and made white sauce enough to cover all the toast w/the whites, sprinkled the crumbled yolks on top. Once in awhile I still make it. God bless you Becky.

I absolutely love your videos. I'm a cook myself and have been since about age 9. Growing up on a big cattle ranch, 3 meals a day were always served. We had 5 in our family but the ranch hands had to eat too. People were always dropping in for some important reason or another especially around the noon meal, which was served at 12 oclock everyday. Can't ever remember running out of food or not having enough no matter how many stopped by to eat. Mama had this huge electric skillet we used for frying meat because it cooked it just right and held a lot more than a regular size skillet. I'd stand on a red crate, think was a milk crate and fry at least 2 chickens for the noon meal. Usually when the chickens were cooked, I'd fry a big platter of venison, like CFS, but more tender and tasty. Usually took at least 3 big platters of meats for that noon meal. I can't remember one day I didn't cook potatoes as a side to the meats. That was just a given. Thank goodness Daddy always planted 3 r 4 big gardens and we had plenty of veggies year round. I tried to find different ways to cook those new potatoes but the guys loved them either mashed skins on or just washed and boiled with lots of butter, salt, pepper. Well they liked them cooked in white cream sauce too. Yeah at 9 years old during the summer I'd be in that kitchen all day everyday, and in one of the gardens with Daddy most evenings digging potatoes or picking peas, gathering bunches of green onions before starting the supper meal. Was hard work especially for a child but I miss those days, I loved cooking for a lg group of people everyday. And believe me I was usually the star out there too. .Everybody likes a good home cooked meal and a peach cobbler or cream pie.

My mom would always saute onions when she was cooking because the smell tricks the brain into believing dinner was almost ready and calms the stomach of hungry kids so they aren't crying for supper.

My beautiful step-daughter, son-in-law, and precious 4 yr old grandson. There is SO much to be thankful for, even during these times. Faith, health, family & love ❤

My mother made this in the 50's. You take a tough steak and dredge it in flour and with the side of a plate, you pound the meat on the cutting board, it in all directions until its thin but not pounded through. Then fry it and follow your directions. For the gravy, she simmered the steak in Lipton's packaged oinion soup and water. Saved cutting up onions. Same process for pork cutlets. God bless all your work. Keep spreading the good news of Jesus.

I am 66 years old and I remember my Aunt Rebecca, Dads sister, and how she would tell anyone that would listen, that Mom was the best cook she knew. So with being said, even with the introduction of new flavors that has happened in my lifetime, I often think of her and Mom's wonderful southern dishes. I have 3 sons and of the three that loved my renditions the most went vegan a few years back and cooking for one like that is well to say the the least, pointless. cooking is a gift of love you shre with others. Mom loved us very much. That is what I am thankful for, all of the love that is shared around a meal. You are a blessing to so many lady. 💌

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️From Ontario Canada. I am thankful for my life. Even tho its been a depressed life I am so grateful. When I was 21 yrs old my husband was killed in a house fire. We had 2 babies 3 yr old and 14 month old. it was a very sad adjustment for us. You never get over the grief of losing a loved one ...you just learn to adjust and you never forget them. I am so sorry you lost your beloved husband. I truly do understand. If it weren't for my 2 little girls I'm not sure what would have happened because I know the best part of me was buried with him. That all happened March 16th 1974 in Toronto Canada😢😢😢...anyway I LOVE Salisbury Steak. My mom made it often. I grew up on a tobacco farm. It was hard work and lots of cooking🍽️🍽️🍽️🙏We raised our own beef, pork and had MANY chickens. I enjoy your recipes and you just feel like I could sit and talk hours with you and trade recipes I also cooked in different restaurants and have my own FOOD TRUCK. Yes I do have a blast😉😉😉with 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren I'm busy busy busy. Every Sunday(BEFORE COVID) my great granddaughters (TWINS) Alyssa and Sophia( who are 11) would come cook with me from the age of 13 months old lol they stood on a chair they were tiny they fit on one chair🤣🤣 anyways I would get all the ingredients together and they would take turns putting the stuff into the bowl lol MEMORIES....that's what I was getting at. I think that's why God gives us memories so that we never forget. God bless you Becky. Stay Strong. Stay Safe Stay well. Cheers. Ontario Canada🙏🙏🙏

My mama grew up poor w 10 kids. Her mama died when she was 10 and her daddy at 12. The older kids and my mama learned to hillbilly cook from their mama in Nebraska and could make a leather shoe taste good. I was so blessed that she passed that to me. After a car wreck I lost my mojo and just gave up on cooking so much. But you inspire me to keep going and to remember to keep our family cooking alive. We even have a family cookbook w over 100 yrs of recipes. Thank you for being a strong Christian and for sharing. So glad I found you. God bless. I am thankful for my mama and this channel!
