Lyrics:
Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be
Don't know much about geography
Don't know much trigonometry
Don't know much about algebra
Don't know what a slide rule is for
But I do know one and one is two
And if this one could be with you
What a wonderful world this would be
Now I don't claim to be an 'A' student
But I'm trying to be
For maybe by being an 'A' student, baby
I can win your love for me
Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be
History
Biology
Science book
French I took, yeah
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be

Seems a lot of people don't understand what this song is about.... The song was written with the theme that neither knowledge nor education can dictate feelings, but that love "could make the world a wonderful place." The record label didn't take the song seriously but Cooke made sure it was recorded... After this song he started taking more of a stance in the civil rights movement which pretty clearly shows where his head was at when he was singing the song... African Americans were told all the time about how they don't know or understand complex things and here comes Cooke singing that love will make the world a better place not the fact that he's not well educated. Don't let the lighthearted tempo fool you, this song is profound.

My late father and mother would always play Sam Cooke on the weekends, so i was brought up listening to that amazing voice. Songs like Wonderful World, Cupid, Chain Gang, You Send Me and 1 of the greatest songs ever recorded, A Change Is Gonna Come. I feel privileged to have parents who brought me up listening to Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Everly Brothers, Dion, Del Shannon and other great artists, which gave me a love for great music. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Kinks, and others who were influenced by these great artists from the '50s. What a Wonderful World this could be 🙏

Love this song and became a fan of Sam Cooke simply by hearing this song. Still recall the first time I heard this song. During the summer of 1987 as I watched the scene in Witness where Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis were dancing in the barn with my late Grandpa Bob. Grandpa Bob always watched the best movies with me regardless of my age. Maybe watching the Deer Hunter as a seven year old in 1982 may have not of been the wisest of choices, but I always think of him whenever it’s on.

I never owned a copy of the song, but for the last 35 years I have sang this song as I work or walk down a street at least once a week every week. It just pushes to the front of my mind all the time. I sing songs all the time. Some talk to themselves. I sing too myself. 🎶🎶🎶🎶

Superb song - Sam spoke a simple lesson to all that went far beyond his homeland - growing up in Northern Ireland during the so called troubles - My hero John Hume said “Difference is the essence of humanity. Difference is an accident of birth, and it should therefore never be the source of hatred or conflict. Therein lies a most fundamental principle of peace: respect for diversity.” Thanks to the tireless and brave work by many my son aged 20 has now grown up in peace

Now I’m still lost and trying to find answers but every now and then I’ll come here and for the short time I have I feel at peace. Whoever else is feeling lost or needs someone to talk to im here. I hope everyone who reads this has a good day and takes care of themselves.

Not just buying a coffee for someone behind you,( which is so cool, happened to me 2 times in a row this week). but listening, dancing and loving music together, with the emphasis on loving. I am 70. I was in the middle of "all this" Not the beginning, but not the end...we're not finished yet, getting it right.
