after the semi-finals match between us vs Netherlands it was tobin and christen that broke twitter, and then after this match, it was sam and Kristie, this tournament was kind of a downer in terms of soccer, but it was such an emotional rollercoaster (there was also an Olympic swimmer who used her press conference to basically shout out Tobin and Christen, Erica Sullivan)

@@elliepennington9115 so Christen scored the penalty during the quarterfinals and the cameraman (at least for US broadcast) switched directly to Tobin and basically Tobin was super pumped and it was a really sweet moment. In the days after the match they’ve also posted a lot of content together, including a photo together on national girlfriend’s day, and yesterday Tobin’s story featured a picture of the two of them with the caption “when I didn’t think I could do it you told me to try”. So yeah, it’s been a real wild ride.

100% this is real. And I don't think this was done for show. I think it was genuinely Sam feeling terrible and Kristy consoling her. There are many other couples who wouldn't have done this so publicly, but I think neither one of them gives a fig about who's watching. But Sam was being comforted, not making a statement. Also - hurray for Canada!!!!

tbh i think they are actually dating, i don’t think they’re doing it for show. i just think they both have big personalities so they don’t really care if people know or not. and as for the catcalling… with the audio sam whistled and then said sexy. but i think they’re a cute couple just because they match each other’s personalities and energy so well😁

Sam was so devastated, they could have won but they didn’t. One of the fasted players is the world ,Ellie Carpenter got a red card ain the match before which was a big loss. Sam being Captain, takes the loss on her shoulders and has sunk to the ground, exhausted and feeling the loss hard. I believe Kristie has gone out to her and what followed was pure reaction. Sam is rarely demonstrative so I don’t believe it was deliberate, their emotions got the better of them. They are def on together though. How do you make a relationship work when US/Aus and Sam plays in Britain? I hope they stay a couple for a while at least, Sam needs to This is what I think anyway

The USWNT never really got into the tornament apart of their match against New Zealand as well as against Australia in the match for the bronze medal, which was their best one. Some tournaments are just not meant to be successful. When I realized that the USA will play Australia for the bronze medal, I thought about Kristie and Sam and that one of them had to lose. I believe that their emotions were totally real and honest. They are either dating or just best friends and I go for the first option.

Because of covid in the Olympic village, players from different teams can't visit each other. So it's understandable why they spent time together on the field after the game.

I think this was real emotion and consoling and not done for the public. I think it was a fortuitous moment for them to connect and they just went with the moment. Don't believe it was for the cameras at all.

Completely authentic and very intimate, although I feel quite sad for Kerr's previous (?) gf. Well done to the US for the Bronze, bravo to the Matildas for getting further than they ever have, and to Kerr and Mewis for giving us news that is "better than the Olympics". Time for both teams to rebuild and get their tactics and skills together before the World Cup in NZ and Aus in 2023.

They're VERY cute, but long, very long distance is tough. Wouldn't be surprised if SK comes red rover red rover back over to NWSL or vice versa KM to FAWSL for a season or two. Make it work.

I was hoping they were dating, but I also wasn’t putting too much into the insta comments just bc they could have been play-flirting. But! The fact that they are not with their respective teams, and because they are all alone on the pitch (along with the post-match pictures) confirms they are a couple for me. So, the whole tournament was pretty terrible fir us, but at least we have a bronze medal and especially a cute new couple to obsess over.

But who ended the relationship? We know nothing about it. I believe in the beginning Nikki couldn’t return to Aust (too many times) and Sam wanted to be in the U. k. This is a real problem with football and relationships. I think neither of them hurt each other, too much love there

It was a while ago they stopped following each other. I saw it in Murdoch’s paper the Sun so I don’t trust them at all. So the truth is a little skewed to make Sam look bad I think. She obviously loved Nikki but something happened, was it 9 months ago? Don’t trust newspapers

I think for USA the olympics weren’t great for them they failed they may of got a bronze medal but they let in a lot of goals lost the first match. I think it is also good that other teams are catching up like the Matildas they haven’t always been spoken as one of the best and they showed that they are scoring three goals against World Cup winners and Olympians. And the Canada and Sweden game I wish Sweden won Sweden have had a great tournament beating the us in the first match. I have loved this olympics it’s been such a hard year also hope you and Sarah are doing great

I agree they allowed goals but they aren’t playing alone.. also, no medal in 2016 olympics and bronze on 2021. I call this great! - I agree the squad being World Cup winner had what it takes to win gold but perhaps coaching wasn’t ideal and selection either .. who knows! But to say they failed isn’t right bc ultimately they got a medal. Men didn’t even qualify

I think if the Olympics had been held on schedule we'd have had a better chance of retaining the cohesion of 2019. Also worth noting, Canada just won gold on the foot of a 20-year-old...

Congratulations to all the couples. I wish this world would simply be happy for people in love instead of pushing selfish, self-centered values on them. It's their love not yours so please be happy for them. Remember all you christian zealots, Jesus was purported to say, "...first commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your might, mind, and strength. Then he added that the second commandment was like the first, love they neighbor as thyself." I don't see a lot of neighbor loving in this world when it comes to LGBTQ people. I wish there was more loving instead of hating.

Who really cares that they love each other ??? If one person loves his/her dog so much, would you make it a big deal ? Just because it is about 2 lesbians, you have to trust the story in our face , to convert younger children to follow their path ? They are soccer players, so just play soccer and perform well to get paid. And they don't even do it in this Olympics !!!
