Mick needs to do the right thing and give Lou the credit he deserves and the royalties for I Want To Know What Love Is.

Mick Jones wrote that song. The credits read... Words and music... Mick Jones. YES. Lou made that song what it became. But in the music business, publishing rights are everything. Jones has been in the business actively since 1961. It's A business. It's not a charity. Lou Gramm wasn't smart with his money. That's NOT Mick's fault. The music business is full of stories about people who became famous and then blew it all because of excess. Lou Gramm is one of those people. People like Mick Jones and Jimmy Page knew early on that it is a business. Publishing rights and producing credits are the way to become successful. Sammy Hagar also owns a lot of his Publishing rights. Sammy didn't let the party kill his career. He was smart. That's why he is still around, and he is still smiling.

@TheErik249 Lou got NO MONEY for I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. It was Mick who introduced Lou to cocaine and other drugs . Also nobody in Foreigner got bad press for being caught with drugs or getting into trouble in public bringing any scandals on the band since you mentioned excess.

Well I think Lou outshines Mick in so many ways, that Mick sheisted Lou out of jealousy & envy. It's sad Mick can't credit Lou enough for Foreigners' early success. But really, it just makes Mick look insecure & not right. He owes much of his band's success to Lou beginning WAY back in the 70s! So what it was Mick's original band. He should STILL credit Lou with the popularity he brought to Mick's band. It's so freaking obvious Lou's singing & personality, made Mick's band famous in the 70s & 80's. Lou really made Mick's band rock!!! MICK CLEARLY IS TOO INSECURE TO CREDIT LOU & OTHER ORIGINAL BAND MEMBERS FOR HOW WONDERFUL FOREIGNER WAS!!! (SORRY Mick). But Lou should also really let it go! Everyone already knows ALL the original members made Foreigner rock! Not just Mick!!!

It's great that Mick Jones played the song knowing he wouldn't be able to finish the lead part. That shows humility and is the right kind of person to work with. An egomaniac would've never done that. He doesn't have to be a great lead player, just write good songs and be a good enough player to play his part.

Used to live in Florida and worked at an airport. A passenger’s last name was Gagliardi. I said a former member of Foreigner had that uncommon last name. The guy’s eyes opened wide and said it was his cousin. I wasn’t sure if he was joking but as the conversation progressed I saw it was true. I asked why he left the band. I can’t remember if he got fired or quit but I remember him saying that Mick was a control freak.
@KENDZIification

Any band that wants success needs that one member who goes above and beyond. Call them control freaks or whatever. Mick Jones, Noel Gallagher, Tom Scholz, Kurt Cobain, etc. These guys write the big hits that elevate everyone’s pay in the band. And existence. Music is a f*cker of a business and to make it there better be an alpha present….or else.
