Hi Karl, I noticed the round column is replaced on this mill with a rectangular one. Is there a part number or a drawing for this solid vertical column on this mill?

The mill in the video is our 6858 ball screw model with a square(ish) column base. The column base is P/N 50056 but it does not fit on the 2000-series mills that have the round column base. Below are URL links to the column base and the 6858 ball screw mill exploded view. www.sherline.com/product/50056-tall-rigid-column-base-rectangle/ sherline.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/6858_exp_rev.pdf

It’d be great to see some 3d adaptive cutting rather than contour cutting strategies.

What software did you use to create your G code?
@SherlineProducts2 жыл бұрын
Three different programs were used: 1. For the letter engraving we used V-Carve Pro. 2. For the round pocket milling we used the conversation programming that comes with the MASSO. Their software is better for pocket shapes because the cutter path spiral out whereas BobCad will move out in a straight line before each radius cut. The BobCad movement will cause chatter in the straight-line moves. The MASSO spiral cut will give a nice constant feed with even material removal. Much easier on the machine and on your hearing. 3. We used BobCad to generate the outer profile with the corner radius. 4. We ran each program individually in the proper sequence. Once all of the programs were run and proven, we cut and pasted them into one program.

How are the mills zero'd to the material? I didn't see you having to zero to material on every change? Is it because the height of the mills are already known and then programmed for the tool change step? I'm super interested in one of these machines as I make live steam locomotives... one day I'll actually have the money to get one

this teaches nothing... how about homing or tool length?

The video prior to this, Work Positions and Tool Offsets for Tools, demonstrates how to do what you are asking. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNqlaNd9sby9Z6M.html.
