"This is the most common part to fail when the dryer won't start. Once the thermal fuse has blown, it has to be replaced." Thanks for burying it behind and underneath every other removable part in the drier... *sigh*

Thank you for this video. I reviewed the other comments and attempted to locate the fuse through the back vent. However, my dryer sits on the floor and the fuse is located at the front of the dryer. I wasted a lot of time looking for the fuse at the back of the dryer. I then just followed this video and located the fuse. Yes it is a lot of steps but worth it. I replaced the fuse and it solved the problem. I am a 62 year old female and I like trying to fix things myself before calling a repairman. I also previously fixed my washing machine following a repair clinic video. Thanks again!

I did not do all this for mine. I took the back off at the bottom where the lint hose is, cleaned the bottom thoroughly of all the dryer lint, and then removed the old thermal fuse. It was an easy fix. I spent more time cleaning all the disgusting lint out of there than the actual repair. Saved me hundreds of dollars. And I had no idea what I was doing before I started, but ladies if can be done. 💪🏾

Thank you so much!! This video was so clear and well done. With zero experience I managed to disassemble my Samsung dryer and was ready to replace the fuse when I found that the belt had slipped off the idler wheel because the plastic edge of the wheel had worn through. I bought a new one, installed it and reassembled everything with you excellent instructions. I'm so grateful for this video!

I started to work on it with the help from this video :) , all I done was check voltage to the cord at the plug and at connectors on back of dryer , removed front control panel and wiggled the connector for the panel , I got lucky I think , it was a bad connection on the control panel , it is working fine for now . all you folks with the same trouble might try the steps I preformed to see if it will help you also . thanks for the video guys , it helps a lot of people like me who simply can not afford a repair service to do the work for me !!! many thanks for your time and efforts :)

if you have long arms, you can replace this fuse by just 3 screws. on the backside of the dryer, disconnect the vent from the vent hose. remove the 3 screws that secure the internal vent tube, and remove the internal vent and vent panel that secures it. you now can reach your arm under to reach the fuse/thermistor. this method won't work for everyone, but it worked for me. alternatively you could lay the dryer on it's side and remove the bottom panel. I am not sure if this is possible, depends how the bottom panel is assembled

Hi! I have a DV45H6300 dryer and after watching your video it seemed rather straight forward. The problem I have is getting my control panel off. The model you used only had those five clips on the top and then was able to rock it back and unhook the cable. On mine I have those 5 clips, but also additional clips on either side and the bottom by the panel by the door. I can get every obvious clip loose however there is something else holding the control panel on underneath the knob and I have tried manipulating it every which way to get it loose but no luck. Do you have any clues with how to complete the removal on my model and/or a video of the 6300 teardown? Thanks in advance.

I've noticed there are slightly different part #s for replacement thermal fuses. How do I know for sure this is the part I need before I dismantle my dryer? A year ago, my husband and I replaced the heating element, so I know what I'm getting into. Model# DV218AEB/XAA Also, my dryer keeps turning off and then turns back on with the time left on it blinking. The side is hot. Is this from the thermal fuse needing replaced? What do I need to do? Thanks!

Awesome video, but overkill. If your dryer is stacked and you can get behind the stack, on many models you can simply remove the rear vent panel (3 screws + lock washers) and reach the fuse from behind. You should be able to test its continuity with a multimeter without removing it. Several other fuses are reachable that way as well. You might discover lint inside the dryer, indicating a leak with the venting (especially likely when side-vent kit installed). Our contractor had forgotten to pry up the vent guide from the bottom of the dryer housing, so the first small section of vent pipe was sagging and the joint had failed slightly. Anyway, this video gave me the confidence to try a DIY repair. I must have saved at least $300.

Been there, done that. That rear panel is something special! My Samsung DV395ETPASU/A1 only has one screw/w two slit tabs holding that exhaust panel. Tested each one of them for resistance even after I found the bad one just to make sure.

I also went through the panel where the exhaust duct is. My dryer is a little different tho. I also banged the fuse on the ground to reset it. Lol. at 3:30 you can see the exhaust tube. if you remove that from the rear you can access the fuse from the back side by removing 2 screws from the shell, pull the tube out. you'll have to reach in but it is possible to do.

p.s. I'm done with this dryer! I've changed almost everyone of the thermostat or thermistor and the others in the 5 yrs I've owned it from new. I troubleshooted all basic problems i.e. the exhaust is clear and clean, the tube is straight and short. Samsung what can I say. I buy your products but some of this stuff is all part of the mass produced 'throw away'. I've replaced the washer purge motor twice. btw the purge motor is faulty because if you leave the purge tube at full length and down into the wall drain it will cause it to back flow towards the lowest point which is the base of the washer thus leaving the pump face submerged in water. This leads to the pump leaking into to magnets inside the pump. It corrodes and the magnets crack and the polarity is compromised. The manual says to have the tube cut or at the right length just below the opening of the wall drain opening. They don't say it will f up your poorly made motor seal. Why would they?

New build (1 month): dryer stopped turning on. Checked power and was good until the 1 month old outlet. Purchased and installed a new outlet. Dryer still won’t power on. It was drying a very heavy load prior to me noticing it was no longer working. Would the thermal fuse cause it to not power on? I feel it is a “reset” matter but it’s obviously not has power to it for a couple days so a soft reset isn’t working.

Alright, I fixed it. Don't do all those steps. I took the top off, the control panel and the front bulkhead then decided to try taking the vent pipe out the back which is only one screw like others recommended. The thermal fuse pretty easy to access through that hole. Note there are two thermal fuses; one on the heating element assembly (part # DC47-000-15A) and this one on back of the blower housing (DC47-000-16A). The check filter light is no longer flashing and the dryer starts. YEAH! My model is a dv45k6200ez/a3.

The power comes on, but i hear a faint click when trying to start and the unit is not turning on. the drum will turn manually and the belt is fine. could one of the Fuse's prevent the drum or the actual cycle from working? or does a fuse just prevent heat? thank you.
@repairclinic

palmerlash It may be a faulty thermal fuse; we recommend testing that first. Enter your dryer's model number in our repair help to find the how-to video for testing that part and to view other possible causes. Since you're hearing a clicking sound, it's not likely a lid switch problem. www.repairclinic.com/repairhelp?TLSID=1773.

My dryer is not turning ON, and the display dosen't show anything. I am sure it gets power because the door lamp turns on and I checked and found that the plug and cord are fine. How could I check and see the broken part? Is this due to bad thermal fuse? Thank you.

Thanks to the video and I was able to dissemble the dryer (Samsung DV42H5200EP). There were no error message on the display to indicate what is wrong with my dryer without any heat when drying. Also, the lint line was cleared of obstruction. I went to the heating element that assembly to check continuity on the heating coil and high temp thermostat which was good but the thermal fuse was blown. After replacing the thermal fuse. The dryer was heating up but on the 2nd time using the dryer. It was not heating at all. After taking apart on the 2nd time, the thermal fuse shown no continuity. I also, checked on the blower side motor thermistor and thermal fuse. The thermistor is a bit on the lower side when it is at room temperature but the thermal fuse was fine. I ordered the thermistor and thermal fuse on the heating element side and installed once again. It indicated to me it is working on the first time but on the 2nd usage. It is not working again. Can you please let me know what is the problem of my dryer? What other things can I do to get it to work again. The dryer is a little bit more than a year old.

I have the same issue with mine, and replaced the fuse the first time, and then the fuse, themistor, and heating element the second time even though they tested fine. It has gone out again within a couple days and I've had the dryer about 2 years. There's no lint problems and the line to the outside is clear. Did you find a solution?

Amazing video, thank you! But what a ridiculous design to have to essentially disassemble the entire dryer to replace a $10 part. I've had Whirlpool dryers and it's just a few screws to remove the back panel and the fuse is right there. Boo Samsung!

I followed these instructions to discover my tension pulley had seized. Cleaned everything, but a new pulley assembly-now all is well and I get to return the fuse that was never removed from packaging.

I have a Samsung DV419aew Dryer. When i turn it on, it lights up, i can change settings to normal/delicate whatever, but when i push start it does nothing. I noticed when i turn it on there is a little waffle/screen symbol in the lower right corner for a moment, and on the left side an Hourglass stays on all the time. The timers count down, and if i open the door without pausing i get the DO (door open) until i close it. I hear nothing when i push start. Do you have any idea where to start looking for a problem.

+justjerry19 I the definitive answer, i bought a new DC47-00016a thermal fuse. Watched this video on how to disassemble the dryer, replaced it and it works good as new. While i was there i also replaced the thermisor, but after removal i tested and the fuse was blown. Thank you so much for this video.

Hello.. I have an electric dryer that turns off in the middle of the cycle and then nothing turns on in the control, as if it had no power, it takes about half an hour for it to turn on again, everything will work normal for 15-20 min and then again it will shut off everything as if I had no power, wait 30 min and it will turn on again. I checked the thermal fuse but it works. Any idea on what the problem might be? Thank you

what a pain for a thermal fuse. I had a worn idler pulley and the process is the same. Damn thing was plastic, im guessing nylon. Designed to fail lol. And when it does and its out of warranty, you either hire someone to replace for $400 or just get a new one. Yikes. At least the engineers allowed for the breakdown process to be fairly straightforward.
@jmcwatchdog526

The idlers are notorious for going bad. The old style uses a bushing, the new style has a bearing. If the belt falls of the idler hits the safety switch and shuts off the unit.

To anyone watching!! You do NOT need to completely dismantle like this. Remove the tube from the back of the dryer. Use a flashlight to see and you can get both hands inside to replace this. Again you will not need to follow these steps in this video its alot simpler.😔

If it is the limit that is the problem, does the power and everything else still work properly? My dryer seems to act completely normal (as far as turning the power on, picking a setting/time, etc) except when I press the start button, it just clicks, but doesn’t actually start. No error code or anything. Also wondering if maybe my belt fell off the pulley while I manually spun the dryer bell half a turn digging for something in the finished load the day before I realized it had an issue. (I did hear an abnormal noise when I made this manual turn of the dryer bell, that I had never heard before. Makes me think the belt might have come off the pulley or maybe even broke? ) obv I have not tried taking the dryer apart to see what may look amiss… but that’s clearly my next step 😕 thoughts anyone??
