I just changed my samsung note 8.0 digitizer last night successfully. Online information and tutorial were insufficient, i followed this video tutorial. I bought the digitizer on ebay with the pry tool x 2 , screwdriver, and T5 torx and 3M 9495le Double Sided VHB Tape, 300 LSE Adhesive from another seller. I followed exactly the instructions in the video, just few points to take note: 1) use harder card or similar item to separate the digitizer from the lcd. 2) Extra attention is needed at the bottom part where contains menu, home, and esc keys. I accidentally pulled out the menu backlight key during the separation. Now my note 8.0 is functioning without the menu key backlight. 3) Heat gun is recommended over the hair blower for adequate heat energy and fast separation. My original color was white, i bought a black digitizer to replace, now my note 8.0 is black with white home key, lol

A "note" for anyone contemplating this repair. The adhesive between the glass and LCD is extremely strong even when heated. As a matter of fact, trying to separate the LCD from the glass ended up in me damaging the LCD. (yes I heated it) I've repaired dozens tablets (Samsung, Motorola, and Apple) so I don't consider myself a beginner. Getting the corners lifted wasn't a problem (heat gun/dryer works well just like all the repair videos advise). It's just the portion between the glass and LCD. So just a word of caution that this is much trickier than the 1-3 repair videos make it seem.

Thanks for this video. I just finished replacing my digitizer and really appreciate having this video as a reference. The glue is very hard to remove. I ended-up using ArtiClean 1 and it worked well. GooGone would probably have worked too. The only problem I had was that I lifted part of the LCD off of the LED backlight and chipped a tiny piece of it. The LCD screen is plastic and is adhered to the glass LED backlight. Because it is a sheet of plastic it is easy to scratch and, if you're not careful, you can pull it off when you are trying to remove the digitizer. The last thing I have to say is that this repair is not for the faint of heart. I put this off for 10 months because my digitizer was still working under a broken screen. When you crack that corner and start peeling off the digitizer you realize you have passed the point of no return. Just take your time and watch what you are doing.

Thanks for the video. This was my first time trying to make any repair to any electronics device so i'm new at this. I ended screwing up the lcd screen and now I decided to buy a used device from Amazon or Ebay. I don't know what i did wrong. I used a blower to heat the adhesive and i was able to remove the digitizer, then I used alcohol to remove the adhesive, then I re-installed the battery and connected the new digitizer, but the lcd wouldn't work anymore. I don't know if it was excessive heat or too much alcohol. Well, sometimes you win and sometimes you don't. Thanks anyways.

Hey sorry for late response everyone. A few questions to answer: local adhesive is not necessary on this tablet. Local is used on this device to reduce glare and makes for crisper display. It's not needed to assist the touch function because the digitizer is now laminated to the new glass just the way digitizers used to be made in the past. Touch is not affected without local glue. My result have been good so far and no problems with replacing the glass digi. But I still don't recommend inexperienced to do this job as the lid CAN break. This video is intended more for those who repair electronics. Thanks guys

Is the SPen still functioning after replacing the new screen?

Would it be practical to leave whatever adhesive remains on the LCD, and just put on the new glass... especially in light of using the molybdenum wire? Would it then become visible, and distort the display? Or would it be best to just remove whatever adhesive remains? Also, aside from pushing it off with fingers... is there some sort of cleaner/solvent which is acceptable it use?

It's Note 8.0, just as the title says. 8-inch tablet with stylus (you see him take it out at 42 seconds in the video). Came out a little over a year ago.

1st attempt, i peeled the black film from the lcd and it showed all white. The second attempt appeared to go well. I heated everything nicely and all the glue came off. However when I booted up the Note, you could see purple marks on the lcd, like where the biz cards was peeling. I didnt use a lot of force and it all came off pretty quickly, no issues...well except for the purple marks.

Hi. My Note 8 fell and the glass broke. Thanks to this video I managed to remove the old glass and mount the new one with the mentioned 3M adhesive tape. There is only one little error: The tablet doesn't recognize if the pen is in the case or not. It shows that the pen is removed permanently. Do you have an idea why?

Unfortunately I did try this... Now the LCD is damaged (several completely dark spots) and has some lighter areas (where the digitizer comes in contact with the LCD - especially the middle). This repair method has QUITE some risks and difficulties. Of which none were mentioned in the video unfortunately. Maybe you wanna do some notifications? I do not recommend trying to repair LCD assemblies - not worth the time, risk and money. I will have to use the tablet as low-cost server or similar now.
