Samsung INR 30Q 18650 Fake Batteries Issue

I purchased 40pcs of Samsung INR30Q 18650 batteries from a reputable seller online. They wouldn't get up to anywhere near the stated capacity when tested. I then did some further research online and found out all original 30Q batteries are supposed to weigh 45+grams well the ones that were sent to me were all around 40grams (so obviously they couldn't hold the stated capacity). Be careful and only purchase from established sellers.

I was unknowingly selling fake 30qs myself. Obviously any buyer that wanted a refund got one. Being a vaper myself, I know the dangers of fake cells. I feel terrible that I was helping the counterfeit market. I've contacted my wholesaler (not fogstar) after receiving many complaints. And tested a couple of returns. None of them hold over 1000mah, each one weighted less than 35g and only took 1 hour to fully charge at 0.3 amps!

@@BritishTechTV don't commend me, commend my customers who warned me. What makes things worse is, my wholesaler is the largest vape and CBD supplier in the UK, even they got duped with fake cells! I've learned my lesson after not testing what I sell. Measures and requirements are in place to test a random sample of 5 cells per 100 cells I receive for reselling now.

I've just been refunded for the same fakes (only 4 though). Note how the cap has 4 gaps whereas the genuine ones have 3. All my real ones weigh between 46.05g and 46.17g and my fakes weighed 44.6g

Sorry to hear about what happened to you but glad you got your money back. I know it’s tempting to try and find the cheapest deals on lithium batteries but trust me I learned the hard way. Best to go with a trusted seller even if you have to pay a bit more 👍

Think I have 44 of the same cells. Did you get a refund on them?

Full refund Dan, and they paid for the return shipping too. Royal Mail wouldn’t touch them so they had to get DPD to collect them in the end. It was a load of hassle I would have preferred not to have went through to be honest. They claimed they had no idea as they came from a supplier. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the end was just happy to get my money back.

@@BritishTechTV what a pain in the rear! Contacted the seller saying I've run capacity tests and their reply was "they are fine, just use them and you'll be happy"... Did you manage to source any genuine ones in the end? Seems to be a general shortage on leading brand cells at the moment.

Yes there is a big shortage of genuine cells at the moment and that’s why we have so many fake cells circulating in the market. Regarding where to purchase in the U.K, if you go to google and type in “Fogstar Wholesale” make sure you go to their wholesale site not the general one. As long as your minimum spend is about £60 they will give you the wholesale price. I got 52 pcs molicell p26a for £2.99 each plus vat.

Yes that’s right, I received 40 fake batteries. I was fortunate enough to get my money back but you may not be. So save yourself the headache and buy local from established sellers only 👍. The amount of fake cells out there is unbearable ...

@@BritishTechTV Absoutelly, and especially the sites like AliExpess, Banggood, GearBest. All fake batteries mostly. Heck, you can easily get fakes even on Amazon. Best way to avoid this is to buy directly from manufacturer through Amazon. Example a known brand not private seller. Other way is to opt for a local official stores 👍🏻
