The more I've used my NX100, the more I've liked it, particularly the great tonal range of the sensor with so-called 'smart range' option turned on. Also, the menu system is excellent, making this a very usable camera. And very cheap too!

I own this camera! It has served me well for the 3-4 years that I've owned it, but I'm definitely upgrading to the Samsung NX500 real soon. I've invested in some of Samsung's lenses for my NX100 and don't want to get rid of them so I'm sticking with the NX line for the long haul. The NX500 may not be a professional camera or be the best thing since sliced bread, but it's a huge upgrade over my NX100 and that's all that matters to me.

Gear junkies. The NX100 is a fine camera in the hands of someone who knows how to use a camera. It's a box for capturing light. After all, are we photographers or camera collectors ? Don't get caught up in all the marketing hype. Shoot what you have and work on your technical prowess and creativity instead.

The feel of the camera in your hand is very important. For me the right feel is a great factor for enjoying casual photography. I have the Samsung EX2F which has a tinny sensor but is excellent in your hand.

I agree with everyone do a review of the NX300 and NX30. I have been using my NX30 for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It has its flaws, you can tell that it is made for beginners/hobbyists. And although the build quality is shit, it still has a lot to offer, and has been great the entire time.

I do own as Samsung NX100 camera. I bought it over three years ago and now I just viewed this video. I know this camera is not great as a Nikon DSLR camera. I got it for $300.00 at BestBuy (Body, 20-50 mm lens, flash). For me this camera been good.

First DigitalRev review I'd come across. Have a GF1 Pancake and was going to "trade up" to the APC sensor of the NX100 but I will now wait until the Fuji FX100 comes out (I mostly shoot fixed focal length). Intelligent Auto does seem Samsung's trump card and very interesting - would have liked to know more. Love the deadpan sarcasm and casual demeanor - what SLR are you using to record the video?

@VicFury They're totally different cameras. An E-PL2 is still quite a bit smaller than a D3100 and Micro Four Thirds lenses are smaller and lighter. It's not all about price, the whole point of mirrorless APS or M43 is size, not whether it's cheaper than the cheapest DSLR.

Kai,I love the way you review this camera. Some people will indeed say you're kinda going like Top Gear UK's style. But that's ok. Each person has their own taste. AND, on the other side, you didn't forget to speak objectively. So that's fine. Perhaps,to make things more balance DigitalRev might consider to add one or two more presenters who has DIFFERENT style than Kai. A Canon/Olympus user might do. So all the two (or three) of you could make it some nice productive debate bout the camera :)

Remember not so long ago we didn't associate Panasonic or Sony with camera manufacture. Samsung is at that stage now, but the NX100 is a fine effort. Maybe it is too modern, rather than the Leica lite GF1 or the retro inspired Pens? Fun video as usual though Kai!

miniature,fish eye,sketch,defog,halftone dots and soft focus. when my freind used my camera and saw those settings she said its like you have photoshop on your camera and she was jealous that it wasnt on her camera (cannon eos rebel) which i really like to have someday but i love my camera i think this camera is good.

@mrpixelator of course you can, but the NEX does have a better sensor, making it more capable of getting the most out of your adapted lenses. There is a reason most Leica owners use a NEX as their backup camera and it ain't for autofocus. Anyway yeah, if you are more interested in an autofocus camera, get the samsung. the only E-Mount lens worth having is that thousand dollar Zeiss.

I like both "SAMSUNG NX1000" and "FUJIFILM HS30EXR", but which one is the right choice ? For the quality/price factor, I prefer the Samsung. But for design/price factor, I'm in love with the Fujifilm. I'm not ready to abandon one of the two factors, please help me decide !

i do like how there is a button on the lens to adjust iso TV AV and so forth if i could get the same feature on some zuiko glass id be happy

Menu and controls suck. But the image quality from the APS-C Sensor is quite good. Regarding the price it's a steal.

Did the 20-50mm feel significantly smaller than your typical 18-55mm kit lens? Was it small enough to feel like a prime with the advantages of a zoom? Also those ISO tests were odd, and APS-C sensor shouldn't look that nasty at ISO-1600 any more. Bad on/off button? Yes. Ugly? If that droop doesn't help hand-holding, then yes. C-button? Probably stands for custom and it defaults to DoF preview, it would be in the manual. Bad position though.

Has anyone noticed that Kai makes fun of EVERY camera? Does he work for a company that sells these things? I'm just kidding, he's the only reason I watch these videos.

I got this yesterday for 160€, including the 20-50mm zoom. And I went back to the shop and bought the sef-20A for 50€ as well. Not the best camera of all times, but for the price, I thought I'd give it a go. Not bad actually, feels very plasticky, but the noise performance in jpeg is a shame for a camera from 2010. Its jpeg processing looks like the one on my 9 years old Olympus C4000. Shoot RAW for best results at 800 ISO and up.

I love the design.. this is my first digital camera (my 10 year old 3.3mp Sony doesn't count lol) the iFn on the camera is fantastic and it feels great in my hands :) definately picking up the newer lens with image stablity built in!

I own the NX20 and really can't figure out why there isn't a digital rev review of it, since it's a great camera and considered to be Samsung's flagship Camera :/

I love my NX100 - I've had two E-PL1's... The Olympus does have a better 'solid' feel. With a leather half-case (ebay) the NX looks MUCH better and grip/feel is much improved. High ISO in RAW looks very good compared to M43 but JPEG at higher than ISO-400 is terrible. Low ISO JPEGs are punchy like Oly E-Pens, though.

@rubbara The NEX has a better sensor, but as you say, the only e-mount lens of quality is the Zeiss and frankly I wasn't impressed with DPR's samples of that, either. And I wouldn't say the NEX sensor is all *that* much better than the NX100 (the new 16MP C3 and 5N are more of a step up though). Up to ISO 800, it's very close, IMO. There's even a Leica M mount swap kit for the 100.

i disagree with you i have this camera and i love it, and you can get better photos at that price i've gotten plenty of them and the settings on it are really cool that i know some other cameras dont have. the guy didnt show them it has red eye fix, back light, different tone colors (soft,vivid,forest,autumn,misty,gloomy,and classic) the gloomy is really cool because it makes the subject in color while the rest is black and white) resize,rotate,face touch,and smart filter which has vignetting,

Some of u guys talk sone rubbish..... He is a little over the top sum times but he is honest about the product he is reviewing ! & that's wat we want. Ain't it? Also the nx100 is a neat little camera, I used it last night at a big show! Ok a little ugly in parts but a good sharp photo with plenty of flexibility . I own a photography company and use all pro 5d mark 2's etc but I'm getting one of these nx100's & if it was rubbish as some of you state then I certainly wouldn't get it as I know my

@ar4216 I never try to use high ISO JPEG, even with a D5000. This camera churns out very good base ISO JPEG and very good RAW up to 3200... The plastic is slippery, I just bought a $25 Horusbennu case off ebay and it looks and feels fantastic. I heard after you handle it a while, the slippery aspect goes away (could be a coating from manufacturing or something).

i like samsung the quality they use is beter than canon niko, for me it thosent mater the size grip or design, for me wat maters is the shot of pics and video, and i like. thats my opinion

Can you test the NX2000? It costs only about 200€ and is very good cam forthat price. BUT the standard 20-50mm Lens is ugly. Can you test it with the Samsung 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 PZ OIS Lens? I'm considering to buy it.

@ramazanb It's a toss up, the Sony has a better sensor but Samsung makes better lenses. I prefer my Nex simply because I don't use Sony lenses (I adapt old SLR lenses) on it so the results are amazing. Also the Nex is far better looking...
