Welcome to the Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time secret ending video. This is unlocked once you collect all 50 corrupted golden crests (In-game collectibles) and defeat Aku again in the final chapter.
The Golden family's crest has been corrupted by Aku's dark magic and scattered all over the world. They must be destroyed to weaken the evil that is Aku.
This ending does the series justice and I'd like to hear your thoughts about it in the comment sections below.
Also, did you like the game? do you think they did Samurai Jack justice or it could have been better? let's discuss this together,

You know, I don’t think anyone’s ever thought about this… What if the reason why Ashi survived in this ending was because of the fact that instead of her entire existence being eradicated like in the normal show, what if here Aku’s obliteration just meant that her powers and connection to the Shapeshift Master of Darkness were severed, leaving her a normal woman? It would definitely justify this ending and also make it just a bit more sweet- Edit: How did this get a hundred likes: my highest liked comment ever lmao

Thing is being a father to someone is due to DNA itself and that kind of connection can't be severed like a power can and her DNA connection to Aku is why Ashi faded, but that fading should've happened right after Aku was killed and never should've made it to a wedding scene as in the TV show had. The alternate ending due to the game though kinda follows the pattern of what Marvel has done when it comes to time travel in which you can't change someone's past but create an alternate reality instead or alternate counterparts of a person. That is what Ashi at the end of the game's ending most likely is. She's NOT the original Ashi, but rather an alternate counterpart of Ashi that was created due to the game's messing of the timeline.

When Samurai Jack came back out in 2017, I was incredibly excited that the show would finally get one last season. When I was a young kid it was my favorite show on cartoon network and I would watch it whenever I had the chance. I was trying to come out of a pretty depressed part of my life when the show was revived, and started watching it with a good friend of mine that had never seen it before. A week after we watched the first episode of season 5, he passed away in a car accident. I was pretty emotionally destroyed, but felt I needed to finish the show that I started with my friend for both of our sakes. When I got to the ending of the show I was incredibly touched by how it ended, in a way that I assume only a person in my exact situation could be. Not everything is forever, and I needed to let go of my grief and depression, and move forward.

I find it interesting that, *_Spoiler_* Ashi fades away in the shows ending. I feel like it makes sense that she would given that time was altered for her to have never been born. I also find it interesting that Jack still keeps his memories from the future, as painful as some of them are it's proof to Jack that it actually happened and the people he met there were real, even if many of them won't exist as a result of defeating Aku in the past.

When it comes to time travel the time traveler doesn't lose the memories of the timelines that he has experienced even if they get changed because the time traveler is actually traveling outside of time when he or she is traveling through time and so they will always remember what they experienced in their travels through time and they will be the only one that does remember.

Technically this should become time loop: 1) Aku sends Samurai Fool to the future. 2) Samurai's adventures, "birth" of Aku's daughters. 3) Ashi sends her with Samurai back to the past. 4) Samurai kills Aku. 5) Ashi erased from existence. 6) There's no one to send Samurai back, so, there's no one to kill and stop Aku. 7) Repeat infinitely.
@Aboelsasshow

I see your point, but with Aku gone, Samurai Jack never really goes to the future to meet Ashi, and therefore, there is no future to return from. It's like a multiverse thing, but both opinions count. That's why it is challenging to understand time travel, as the matter is subjective to each one's perception.

The only logical explanation left is that when Aku sent Jack to the future, Jack actually returned to a different "past". So Aku DID send Jack into the future and DID corrupt the world and gave rise to the Mother and Ashi and her sisters, but all of them were part of Timeline A. Jack, together with Ashi from Timeline A, went back to the past, but in Timeline B instead, which was created the moment Jack returned with Ashi. In a sense, there is one Jack being looped indefinitely. Jack from Timeline B being sent into the future of Timeline A, and bringing Ashi from Timeline A back with him into Timeline B. Do note, even using the terms "Timeline A and B" is not actually accurate at all.

just wanna say, i really like the execution of this secret ending, the game only usually used the 2D animation for recapping the finale events literally reusing the animation while having everything unique to the game as the 3D rigs, definitely to save on costs but they're stylised nicely enough to not be bad. but the ending using that little extra bit of budget to make that tv quality animated bookend really catches you off gaurd in a good way, the wedding end looking like it was cut for dramatic effect since everyone who played the game had watched the show, coulda just cut to the bitter sweet note and have the credits roll over the ambiance, but no within the 2D style you associated with recap, there ashi appears, cut because she didn't die. sure the ending itself isn't ground breaking but yaknow, the original ending had the paradox correction occur at an arbitrary time for dramatic effect, here they fix the biggest contrivance of the original ending and change the rules to back to the future rules. it's time travel it's always gonna be bollocks unless the events never change but jacks goal was inherently to change the timeline, either he dies or some paradox exists, both are unsatisfying so i think we can all agree the best compromise is to simply let him have a happy life after his grueling journey. that and well, it's just a beutiful scene in its own right, definitely was a right call to get the tv staff back on board for that one scene.

@@akira8393 Aku didn't survive anything with the gods actually. Aku was spawned from a tiny fragment of a mass of chaotic darkness that the gods fought and defeated, and the fragment went unnoticed by them. By the time they found out about Aku's existence, he had already intertwined with mortals so the gods chose not to intervene and destroy him, which even a single god could have easily done at any time. Aku's power never reaches anywhere near the gods or the power of the original darkness he spawned from. Okay, I won't lie. I wasn't wild about Ashi's death. I mean, a downer ending isn't exactly something you make people wait 15 years for. But I at least respected the hell out of them for having the balls to go that way. Plus it did kind of fit with the tone of the series, overall. I mean, if you go back over the whole show, even if Jack won a fight (or at the very least, SURVIVED it), many times, if not most, he would come out the other side with the underlying conflict never ACTUALLY getting resolved. But there was nothing he could do about it, when it was all said and one. So he just had to suck it up and keep moving forward, one foot in front of the other, because...what were his options, really? Ashi's death was just another instance of this...some might say the ultimate instance. I suppose my only REAL issue with Ashi's death was when it actually takes place. THAT I call bullshit on. Because I know we're supposed to view this through the lens of cartoon logic and not think about these things. But seriously...think about it. They had to rebuild their entire kingdom from scratch, because Aku razed it to the ground. THEN they're prepping for this wedding, during which, they send word out to all of Jack's mentor's FROM-AROUND-THE-WORLD to come to this thing. So we're thinking this is...what? Five years later? MINIMUM? And even THAT'S being generous. And Ashi's just been hanging around this whole time? Really? But like I say, even though I understood the rationale behind the decision to kill Ashi, it still kinda rubbed me the wrong way. So I can see why this alternate ending would be a breath of fresh air for many who felt the same. But for others who appreciated the original ending for what it was and might view this rebooted version as a cop-out to try and pacify whiny fans, my question to those people is...was it REALLY? Because here's the thing about this ending. Since they allow no dialogue between the characters in the final shot, it's actually completely open to interpretation. On the one hand, you can believe that what you see is what you get, with Jack and Ashi getting their happily-ever-after, since she exists outside of time. But if you want to dig deeper, the argument can also be made that just because Ashi's death is omitted from the wedding scene doesn't mean it didn't happen. And the final scene of her sitting next to Jack could simply be Jack's memory of her, symbolically offering him some small measure of comfort in that she can never truly be gone as long as she lives on in his heart. So what do you think? Does Ashi live? Or does she die? I think the TRUE purpose of this rebooted ending is to give fans the chance to decide for themselves. And whichever answer you choose is ultimately the correct one. I know I'm fine with it, either way. But which would YOU prefer?
@Aboelsasshow
@Aboelsasshow Жыл бұрын
I, for one, enjoyed this ending, and instead of seeing this as an alternative one where Ashi lived, I thought of this as a continuation where Jack continued to live and support his people, and when he died, he met his loved one in the afterlife. For the wedding party, with animation, there is no sense of time for rebuilding and inviting people from around the world. It was just the creator's way of saying that later that day or a few days back, Jack was finally having a good moment, but that would soon disappear as Ashi is, in the end, a creation of Aku and would vanish from the future given that Aku died in the past.
@TuxedAaron
@TuxedAaron Жыл бұрын
@@Aboelsasshow Well, that's an interesting way of looking at it, too. I hadn't thought of it from that angle. And the argument could certainly be made that with the time travel spell no longer linking him to Aku, Jack was finally free to age as a normal human. But it still goes back to my original point. The true brilliance of this ending is that there really are NO wrong answers. However YOU choose to interpret it is ultimately correct. And as for me calling bullshit on the timing of Ashi's death, again, like I said, I get that it was cartoon logic and we're not supposed to think about it. But I just couldn't shut off my brain THAT completely.
@danielblair4413

What was kinda stupid about the show is that these are supposed to be smart characters and so Jack should've realized that if he killed Aku in the past then he was going to be erasing Ashi from existence due to Aku being her father. This should've stopped Jack from taking the opportunity to kill Aku once he realized Ashi had taken him to the past and should've told Ashi to return them to the future and kill the Aku of the future instead. Jack had already come to terms with NOT being able to return to the past and even had a reason to NOT return to the past even if he had a means because he had Ashi, so the ending itself should've never involved killing Aku in the past in the first place.
@TuxedAaron
@TuxedAaron Жыл бұрын
@@danielblair4413 Well, it would have been the most SELF-SERVING choice, to be sure. But this is one of those time travel paradoxes where there really is NO right choice. Yes, by going back in time, the world Aku created no longer exists, including all the people that were born. But it was a world that ONLY existed because because Jack was displaced from time in the first place, and thus, arguably, shouldn't have occurred at all...including all the people who suffered and died during Aku's rise to power. The bottom line is, whichever way Jack chose to go, he was actually deciding the fate of literally BILLIONS...among which, Ashi was only ONE.
@danielblair4413
@danielblair4413 Жыл бұрын
@@TuxedAaron Better for billions to have their existence that you yourself knows that they have then for them to have never existed at all. If I am being honest the secret ending with Ashi surviving makes absolutely no sense for the premise of Samurai Jack. Ashi's literal existence is tied to Aku and his future, so when Past Aku was destroyed, his alternate future should have been rewritten and Ashi should have faded away like in the actual series ending of Samurai Jack. The series may have had a bittersweet ending, but that was always the intended way for Samurai Jack's journey to end. One way or another, Jack had to give up something for his victory against Aku. Throughout the series, Jack usually lost a chance to return to the past because Aku stopped him, or he had to give it up to protect others. Having Ashi be the one to return Jack to the past definitely shows how Aku brought about his own undoing, but having no real consequence to that on Ashi's part sort of makes Ashi a deus ex machina. A plot device does need consequences or it just feels cheap. I honestly think that the series finale is the true ending of Samurai Jack, and the secret ending is just an alternate ending to please fans who didn't like the actual ending. If the game actually did a good job explaining how Ashi survived then there wouldn't be a problem, but the game doesn't even bother to explain how Ashi survived.

@Aboelsasshow 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I, too, do not like happy endings that are unjustified, like when a hero dies and is somehow brought back to shift the tide of the plot. However, I saw this ending as somehow different. In the End Samurai Jack looks like a younger version of himself compared to the wedding day as a reference that she did actually die/disappear that day, and they were reunited back in heaven for an eternity of happiness and love for the good that they did while living.
@StareachValcin
@StareachValcin 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aboelsasshow that actually makes more sense than having Ashi miraculously survive despite her very existence being tied to Aku. I still consider the rest of the game canon because it expands on the end of Samurai Jack's final episode without contradicting its ending or the premise of the entire series. To me personally, the secret ending doesn't work as a proper ending to Jack's journey and it just raises too many implications just to please fans who didn't like the actual ending of Samurai Jack. The biggest being that Aku could somehow return, which goes against the whole point of Jack returning to the past in the first place. Better for Ashi to disappear, assuring that the future is free from Aku's evil.
