There is no fast track for growing in holiness. Sanctification is a daily, long-term process that takes place in the life of every Christian. In this message, R.C. Sproul explores the doctrine of sanctification, warning against four false teachings that can distract believers from diligently pursuing righteousness.

Let us not forget that In Isaiah 64:6 we read that” But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags”. We believers are Justified, sanctified and eventually at His coming, will be glorified, all done by the grace of our LORD. Hallowed be Your Holy name, for ever and ever. Amen.❤️✝️🙏📖

When you really love someone you listen to them (and not only on Sunday); you want to know them better with each passing day. You care about what they care about: what makes them happy, sad or angry. If someone disrespects them you rise to their defense. You delight in them and all that they do and you never EVER misquote them, use them or their words to satisfy your needs or to win an argument; only to abandon them when they are no longer needed.... Why do so many who call themselves Christians, treat God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as if they are nothing more than a napkin that they pick up when they need one, and discard when they don't?

And sometimes it really becomes difficult and confusing . The HYPER GRACE theology I get. When Watching Pilgrims progress I see Pilgrim running from his own family. Our LORD Jesus said He came to bring a sword and not peace in a man's own household. It seems to me, a very thin line. Both my son and daughter got married in a catholic church, I disagreed. We both grew up in this American Christianity. I'm convinced otherwise. And I read The SCRIPTURES and find no commen ground with my wife. Don't get me wrong she has great theology. But seems to say she has peace with God and yet when our kids come by, all she seems to express, is to make sure they are happy. They talk about the next best thing.

A question of logic - I understand that if you’re converted you will change, but if you find yourself changing what assurance is there that the change is the result of conversion?
@factisstrangerthenfiction6787

For me , The conversion was not the change. The change was when I realised I wanted to be converted. Conversion or not , logically your trying to change regardless , your actions will tell . I've found dry fasting extremely powerful, to get closer to god .

John, you make an excellent point. I have worked in small country churches. Many of the members have gone to church their whole life and Many are "saved" young but then in later life, end up questioning their born-again salvation experience. If I understand your question in light of my previous statement: what is the difference between friut of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer and the actions of an unsaved person who, because of close proximity to, and constant exposure of, godly people and biblical teaching over time acts like a believer? Is this an accurate way to word your question? Both look to be "biblical" but one is being "changed" by the Power of God. Would it be accurate to say that the unsaved one is being changed by his own will power or by societal pressure to conform to an acceptable standard? As a pastor, one of my greatest challenges, is to not make the saved think themselves lost and not cause the lost to think themselves are saved. In my personal experience, I was saved at 28, and therefore had a LOT of worldly baggage. You would had to look closely for friut. But if you looked closely, you would have seen change. Love of the Word of God, conviction over ungodly actions AND thoughts, desire to be around other believers and a want to go to church and worship. BUT all of the so called outward evidence can be evidences of how you were raised and not proof of the work of the Holy Spirit. Would you say this is close to what you are asking?

How would one quantify " no fruit whatsoever" i mean even poeple with bad things in thier life do some good things also.
@minkusink6
@minkusink6 4 ай бұрын
being very basic here, fruit generally represents behavior. Just as an example, this is what happened to me before and after I was saved: before, never felt guilty after sinning or the need to repent, never read the Bible, never prayed, never actively tried to cut sin out of my life, or even thought about doing so. After, now I feel the full weight of conviction of my own sinfulness and repent anytime I sin, whether in thought or in action (John 16 : 8, Matthew 3 : 8), now I read my Bible every single day (2 Timothy 3 : 16-17, Hebrews 4 : 12), now I pray constantly (Luke 18 : 1, 1 Thessalonians 5 : 17), now I work constantly to try and reduce the sin in my life (Romans 8 : 13, Ephesians 4 : 22-24). Like Dr. Sproul said, we put forth active effort while at the same time, we know we can't achieve any of this without the Holy Spirit helping us, who is actively working all of this behavior, (fruit), in us to make us more and more like our Savior Jesus Christ (John 17 : 17, 2 Corinthians 3 : 17-18). And of course this wouldn't be complete without walking in love (John 13 : 34-35, Galatians 5 : 22-23, Colossians 3 : 12-14) Hope this helps, sorry it ended up being so long!

I ges the very confusing part of this to me is that he say sanctification is nessisary for salvation and that God does his part and we do our part. Then he said several times that our part is work. Just dont see how that is not teaching works rightiosnes then.

God does His part in Justification and we do our part with the help of the Holy Spirit in sanctification. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
@wib50
@wib50 4 ай бұрын
@paulbaran4796 yes, but my point is, sproul, mcarther, and others say our part is hard, work, dificult etc. And they say that without that one is not saved, but then on the other hand they will say of course salvation is all God's work I think that where many get confused.

Sola Scriptura, teaches us that Abraham believed and obeyed God in Genesis chapter 12, and chapter 13, before he was justified in Genesis chapter 15, as Hebrews chapter 11v8, Abraham when he was called to go out to the place that he would receive for a inheritance obeyed and went out and went out not knowing where he was going, and not only did he obey God but He was blessed by God by Melchisedec who was the Priest of the most high God, who blessed Abraham with bread and wine in Genesis chapter 14, but in Hebrews 7v1-3, is a eternal priest, because He is without father or mother , without beginning or end of life, and King of Righteousness and Peace. So the Eternal One who is eternal righteousness , blesses Abraham in Genesis chapter 14, before he before he is justified by faith in Genesis chapter 15v6. This means that the God of Glory appeared to Abraham in Acts 7v2, and Abraham believed and obeyed God, in Genesis 12, and Hebrews chapter 11v8, and was blessed by the eternal priest of the most High God who it the king of righteousness, and then gives this eternal king a tenth of the spoils of the war he had waged to rescue righteous Lot How tragic to be guided by mere men instead of sola scriptura

Human is defined as hew man fallen man. If one is redeemed is one human. Yes biologically but if one is to state "I am just human" that is a contradiction in terms. Words have meaning let us speak in truth.

If you want to know what to sanctify from and sanctify to; get to know the bible very well. You can start from the gospel of John, then study the letters of the apostles from Paul in Romans thru John of Revelations. I have read thru the whole bible (from genesis to revelation) many times, I would advise every one to do the same. This admonishment is from Jesus Himself: John 17 verses13 to 19 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

First of all i didn't realize he who wants to be a she is reading. I do not know what witchcraft you fell into because you were the smartest person I ever met but that's beyond belief. Incomprehensible. I will not ever apologize for being right with any one of these. If you want to be cut off from sanity your life that's up to you and I'm not going to say another word but when someone baits me and then is ticked off when i tell the truth i will never apologize, i will never feel the slightest guilt. I'll know i tried to reach you which is more than your friends have ever done. You'll know eventually what and why and if you never do I'll know you never were His. I have nothing further.

Here's my take on that- it's not that God predestined anyone because God is outside of "time". He's seen it all from the beginning. He's already seen the "ending", therefore already knows who is going to put their faith in the Lord even before they are born. I think "predestined" is slightly misunderstood because of this. God bless you friend.

How can RC talk so long about sanctification and never clearly define it as keeping the Law of God? Sin is breaking the Law of God. If you love Jesus you will keep His commands. John 14: 15-31. For example, Jesus commanded stoning for certain sins. Most church goers are offended by and against stoning as the Godly way. The Law of God has no prison system for certain sins like theft but church goers will sit on juries and sentence thieves to prison. Church goers pretty much despise God's Law much less keep the Law. So church goers have little to no sanctification going on and are self righteous because they hate the Law of God.
