I'm looking at buying one of these, in my case the 1TB version, and came upon this video. I have a ton of files to move from my laptop (Type-A USB ports) so that I can view them on my tablet (Type-C USB ports) and I was curious how this device would fit into the port on my laptop. You've demonstrated everything I need to know in this one video. Thank you.

Fantastic review, the Lexar one is great but only goes up to 128GB; this one goes up to 1TB. Gonna hook it up to my keychain

Now that Google is going to be charging for photo storage greater than 15 GB, I think this could be a good alternative. Plus it would save on mobile data

Hi. I bought this yesterday and I am trying to get my phone pictures on the ScanDisk to put on my computer. My SD card from my phone where I saved a lot of my pictures was corrupted. So the Geek Squad recommended I get this. Mine is a 256 GB. I downloaded the Memory Zone App from Play Store. Unfortunately, it gave me an error when I tried to learn how to move my pictures to the disk. So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled. I'm really having trouble understanding what to do. Is there a step by step guide that will show me how to get my Photo Vault pictures and my Photos to the device. Thank you

Can I used and put digital movies I own from my pc to the USB stick when I go on flights or longe drives on flights ur data has to be off and on long drives we go threw dead zones alot so I can't seem to watch my movies with out it being slow and buffering all the time plsea and thank you for any response u give

Have new 2023 Honda Accord hybrid. USB-C connectors . Want to transfer and convert my CD music collection to this flash as FLAC files. will get 512 GB version. My computer is USB2? don't know. can I do this? Also if I get APK app from playstore do I leave alone the one on drive? should I get the same APK for my computer?

Thanks this was so helpful. Spent an hour at the store having an associate show me which didnt work. Knowing about the app. a difinet plus. Im not sure how to download app on my pc as it doesnt seem to install. Could you provide link for a windows 10 app that is safe. Thank you

Ordered one direct from WD’s online store and it arrived yesterday. First time I plugged it into a USB C port, the whole insides of the unit slid out from the USB A end. Like whatever glue or retaining clip was supposed to hold everything in was just missing. Has anyone else experienced this?

I see people mentioning that it gets really hot, more than a standard usb. Does anyone know if the black version of this gets hot too? Or are both silver and black technically the same thing? Looks really convenient as i back up a lot from my phone but if this is the case, I'll rather get a standard USB 3.0 flash drive for now.

Generally fat32 will be the most compatible. Not all Android devices support exFAT

An ssd is way faster. This drive is just somewhat faster than a normal usb stick.

If you want faster read/write speeds, and ssd is what you want. This is just a usb stick that is a little faster than regular usb sticks.

Likely that Samsung includes an APK app because there are huge swaths of the Android world (China) that have no access to the Google Play Store.

I bought a SanDisk Ultra 3.0 at Walmart for $50. The package says it has 512 gigabytes. But when you get inside, it's only 460 GB. Is this some kind of scam? That's more than 50 GB less than it says on the package. Does anyone know why they advertise one size but actually deliver a whole lot less?

I got a 128gb and a 256GB and they are FAST reads up to 380 MB/s read and 150 MB/s write on CrystalDisk but they get so dammed Hot even when doing nothing I can hardly touch them

Yeah since this device gets so hot I betting it will stop working fast. I would only use this to move a few files from my phone to this really quick. Leaving it in use for about 7mins max. Now worth the the cost.

Can’t get this Dual Drive to work with Apple iPAD PRO. Computer Files saved thru USB A but appears not readable when USB C plugged into latest iPadPRO. What app is required?

Discovered the Disk was formatted to FAT32 and does not work on iPAD. The whizz person at my computer store in a country town in Australia solved for me. He reformatted it to ExFAT and now works on both Mac desktop and new iPad Pro. Hope this might help others. Cheers

@@leoniejennings3187 Glad to see it’s working now! If you’re only using it on Apple devices, may I suggest formatting to HSF+ or APFS as EXFAT can become unstable if you forget to ‘eject’ the drive before removing it.

This item worked very well initially for a few days. It really gets hot. The unexpected happened today as it completely stopped working and I can’t erase on my Mac Disk Utility... I’ve owned it for just 1 week... Has anyone had this experience and can share solution...?

A year late to this comment, but holy hell it gets hot. Not warm, HOT. I flinched like I had put my hand on a hot stove. Safety aside, that doesn’t sound good for the contents on the flash drive.

1: Was the SanDisk's, OTG Flash, Pen Drive, Dongle already formatted to exFAT? Had a SanDisk's Dual Luxe, 1TB, OTG, 2-in-1, USB-A to USB-C, Pen Flash, Drive, Dongle that when transferring data from either S20's Ultra phone Internal Storage, or SanDisk's Extreme 128GB MicroSDXC Card to a SanDisk's Dual Luxe, 1TB OTG, 2-in-1, USB-A to USB-C, Pen, Flash, Drive, Dongle, but it wouldn't allow me to even create an empty folder inside the SanDisk's Dual Luxe, 1TB, OTG Drive Can you tell me what caused the problem? Does this problem happen with the one that you purchased, please? It was impossible to create an empty folder, because the function's link disappeared. But the function's link was displayed when probably transferring data from the S20's Internal storage to the SanDisk's 128GB MicroSDXC Card, why?

Thanks for the video wish they had one with encryption. Anyway. I was going to buy this. Then i waited a couple hours. then i went back and all the 128GB one were gone. Shocked!!! lol I don't know why he doesn't have a link to the black one. Plus its cheaper. There are two versions of these if they run out of the metal one.

Drive gets hot when writing...Drive comes formatted as FAT32 so it's best to format to exFAT and don't install the app, as it bring all sorts of problem. The app will only recognize FAT32...be forwarned.

Hello, I just bought one of these and plugged it into my S21 Ultra, but while it did transfer files, it also said it was charging USB and the USB got pretty warm. Is that normal?

Not sure if you got your answer but about the charging part, its normal even if its not charging it'll say charging USB. USB getting hot is probably normal, not sure but i use an old 2.0 with usb type c extension and it gets slightly hot after some time of backing up files but not too much. I'm using a standard s21 btw, not ultra.

Why didn't you copy the file to the phone? We obviously want to copy stuff accross, not just wat films. Very suspect. Did Sandisk not allow you to copy it??

Check the format, pixels don’t read exfat drives.

Fill this up with h2testw a couple of times, and see 1. If it gets warm and 2. If it dies suddenly as it usually happens with these cheap tlc flash drives.

Nope. Too technical for my blood. I bought it, hoping to transfer files from phone to the flash drive, keep getting stopped, halted, download this, delete that. I stopped watching after Memory Zone. No idea what is going on.

It should be noted that it doesn't work on all Android phone. It's compatible with my Samsung s20 but not with my new Samsung s23

i purchased the 64gb very similar to this. A black one. To my surprise it was made of cheap and thin plastic. It overheated badly when leaved conected. Almost melted the cheap plastic. It lasted 2 months before it corrupt my data and was unusable. DONT PURCHASE THIS CRAP.

:) Definitely not. I had a factual mistake in the video that was supposed to go up in this time slot so I swapped in one of my "surplus" videos so I didn't miss my upload target for the week. Now I need to make more surplus videos :)
