Sanford Dam - April 3, 2024 - Mostly dry in the cofferdam, and old spillway demolished!

The old spillway has been demolished. Lots of work around the old power house and it appears that most of the water has been sealed from the area surrounded by the cofferdam. Hopefully funding is figured out so the work doesn’t stop until the dam’s completion.

Amazing how effective the coffer dam is now. Last video there were substantial leaks, but they have obviously been fixed.

I am curious whether or not the power station will ever be a working power station again. If it is, I hope the previous owners are never allowed to operate it again.

@@artistjoh No. The powerhouse is being gutted and the downstream water outlet has been cemented closed.

@@charlierumsfeld6626 In some ways that is a shame. While electrical outlet would be relatively low, it is low emissions electricity, so good for the environment, and electricity sales could help pay for future dam maintenance.

Depends on the results of the pending law suites regarding funding.

The Heron Cove Association lawsuit protesting the special assessment district now in the court will stop work at different times through the summer and fall. Sanford work will continue most of the year. Work at the other dams will stop sooner. The lawsuit has to be contested in court before any other work can continue.
