Sanford to Savannah - Cruising the St.Johns River and Back on the Great Loop!

Join us for our first two weeks back to active cruising - we head down the St. Johns River to Jacksonville. And then rejoin the official Great Loop on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) aboard our Bayliner 4788 motor yacht.
We stop at Ferndandina Beach, Cumberland Island, Jekyll Island, Sapelo Island and then top it off with an amazing downtown stay in Savannah.

Great seeing you back on line and the loop. We started in Chattanooga TN six years ago and stopped in Palm Coast and made it home. We are planning a trip down to Sanford in a few weeks and found this episode very helpful. Thanks

From what you showed, they look like deer flies, yes they do bite, and damned quick. Not like a horse fly, that you have half a chance to get them. Best wishes from the far North.

We really enjoyed Savanah. Have you ever been to Murrells Inlet in Sc? We were there in April. Next year we may go to Charlestown.

Next time anchor in a designated no-wake anchorage area. You cannot expect boats within their rights to slow down to idle and speed back up again for every boat choosing to anchor wherever they want on a busy waterway in a non speed/wake zone.

As indicated, the anchorage in a no wake zone we were planning on was already full. And didn't say we expected to not be waked at this location. Just a 'wake up' call of getting back to the realities of cruising life. Wasn't complaining, just sharing our journey.

Were you pan-handled in Savanah? The park was filled with homeless last time I was there. Not a safe feeling.

Why are you starting so late? You will get stuck by storms.

Storms are a risk anywhere on the Loop - and we aren’t trying to force ourself into a particular schedule since we aren’t trying to finish on a one-year deadline.
