Like all Equipment...bottom line is "use it or lose it" When it sits without exercise it atrophy's. Just like the human body...you have been neglecting your boat and it's paying you back! Give your boat some loving care, spend time on her....Don't let her become a "Hanger Queen"...lol
@TechnomadiaКүн бұрын
We have in no way neglected our boat. She has had regular service, updates and upgrades .. and cruising adventures. While we were based in Sanford for a few years - we were not idle. Including several short monthly cruises and multiple extended cruises. None of the gremlins mentioned are from 'neglect'. The steering pump.. was 25 years old. They are a wear and tear item, and ours was also in regular use (our lower actually failed during our sea trial). The radar? No idea what happened there - but certainly not paying Garmin $1200 to find out. It is only 7 years old, and we also regularly use it to track storms (which Florida has many of.) Oh. and it's 'dock queen', not 'hanger queen'.

I don't think they sell just the broom end for replacement. It's pretty cheap.

Hi I’m just curious, do you have to have a captains license to drive this? Also how would I go about getting one ? 😅
@Technomadia4 күн бұрын
No.. a Captain's license is only needed for those wanting to pilot a boat commercially. There's a whole process to it, that involves a lot of logged time on the water first. Here's a video we did covering this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p5aUl9GBxru6lH0.html

Seems like in some cases getting the longer 150' Starlink cable would allow you to get it out from under cover so it would still work.
@Technomadia19 күн бұрын
That would help in some places - but a lot of wooded camping areas have few (if any) large clearings.

I'm looking forward to following along with you on your journey. I have a quick curiosity question for you. When you stored your boat in Savannah a while back, what marina or yard did you use? And do you recommend them? The reason I ask is that I am going to bring my boat from the Boston area down to Savannah in October/November timeframe, leave it there for the winter, then bring it back slowly to Boston next Spring. But I'm looking for a good place to store it over the winter. Preferrably in the water, rather than on the hard. Any advice would be much appreciated. All the best, Jim Andersen, MV Katy Leigh, Narragansett Bay, RI

We were at Hinckley Yacht Services... they are a working boat yard, and not sure how much open just storage space they have. We had them working on several major projects while Y-Not was there.
