Yes it does come with a dropper. I'd upgrade to Shimano XT or Sram Code brakes.

They're fairly similar. the Hightower is more capable but it comes with a climbing penalty. The Tallboy is more playful and fun.

All of us rode the XL. We are all between 6'1" - 6'3" It was the perfect fit.

We shot a video last summer about how much travel do you really need. While not really a shootout between the Hightower and the Tallboy, those happen to be the bikes we used for the test. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9KAqcx-nanIlKs.html My quick comparison is, the Hightower rides much more like a Megatower than it does a Tallboy.

Thats a good way to put it. Or get a Megatower for the park and the Tallboy for the marathon....

That will depend on your actual saddle height. It can be a little tricky to figure out sometimes. Your best bet is to take it to a shop and have them measure for you or try to measure yourself using the measurements of the dropper you want to use. Alternatively, you could use a OneUp Components dropper that you can easily shim if it's too tall.

@@josehurtado7822 I'd go with the hightower too, Ibis rides great but they have frequent warranty issues. SC bikes are well built, bearings for life, easy to service. literally no downside (besides the price :) )

@@bikersedge a little late but I would appreciate if you could get back to me. How is the Hightower In flowy and jumpy trails. I am really struggling to find a bike that is good in chunk and jumps.

I think you’ll be just fine with the one you bought. No need to go out and buy another. Carbon and aluminum ride differently but I would really say that carbon is better for everyone. Every time I ride an aluminum bike I’m surprised by how well it smooths out small trail chatter.

Different. The Reign is burlier and if I were racing Enduro I’d take that over the Hightower. But if I wanted a more versatile bike I’d take the Hightower. We have a comparison video to sum things up that will drop after all the individual bike videos. Stay tuned.

Depends on the rider and trails.

It’s lower end but works well enough. It’s nice to get a 12 speed drivetrain on a bike that costs less than $3000.

Well for starters you get a lifetime warranty on the Santa Cruz frames and bushings. Most bike companies don't offer that, they offer 5 or 7 year warranties and that is only on the frame. There are some companies that offer lifetime warranties on the frames, but not the bushings. Just because a bike has carcon fiber, it doesn't make it as good or better. There are several brands out there that have carbon frames and cost a lot more but don't feel as good as other bikes like the HighTower. I rode the Tall Boy CC and while it pedaled a little better and was a couple ponds lighter than the aluminum R build High Tower that I test rode, the High Tower felt much more comfortable. It really just falls down to the rider and they're style of riding. A carbon frame isn't a necessity really, unless you're into XC, in my opinion. One could use the money saved by not going to carbon fiber and apply it to drivetrain, brakes, or suspension upgrades instead and make the bike even better and still even she'd weight off the bike at the same time. Just some food for thought.

@@lukasbormann4830 some may, but I've seen carbon fiber bikes with the same drivetrain, brakes, and suspension and I've also seen them with cheaper parts than aluminum frame. My point is you don't need a carbon fiber frame when you can get all the same parts for an aluminum frame and save $1000-$3000 on the frame itself and apply that money saved to upgrade other parts if you like. Carbon fiber frames generally only save a pound or two depending on the frame and size of frame. So a buyer has to ask his/her self is it worth spending that money to save a pound or two, if so the get a carbon frame, if not stick to aluminum. Steel frames are starting to make a comeback, which I thought was kind of weird. To each his own I say. I know I'll stick to aluminum and put my extra money towards something else down the road.

where are you getting a carbon with gx for 3k? similarly where are you getting a quality full sus for 1k? I have never seen anything so cheap.

If I bought one I’d upgrade the brakes.
