What I miss the most is the liver blow that Kratos does in 2018 when barehanded. Dodge forward and press R1. That quick blow. I wish we had that in Ragnarok

They removed kratos’ right hook attack for a good reason; being that it was slow for a light attack. The r1 attack in ragnarok that goes straight to the shield bash is much better and faster.

My point exactly, fists combat in 4 felt powerful, organized, and satisfying In Ragnarok it felt janky and nerfed

It is odd how they gutted some of the combat instead of just making small adjustments. No reason barehanded couldn't have kept hold r1 and the delayed attacks. There should also be evade back and forward attacks. I do like the change for the running shield attack though, makes it much easier and faster to use.

That was my biggest problem when I first played ragnarok. I LOVED the barehanded combat in '18

I think the move is still there because they implemented the moveset from the previous game and just cut the first punch, and this is just an oversight bug. So if you ask for a fix, you ask for not being able to do the first punch at all 😅

I already spammed in comments of dev twitter accounts like Mihir just asking about brining back missing barehanded attacks... But of course they won't answer. They already changed combat significantly. Bringing back old animations is a lot of work. Statistically average gow gamer didn't even noticed about missing barehanded skill tree in Ragnarok. So I think we never gonna get these type of updates. Only fix updates. Hoping now SMS devs are working on something epic. And somewhere in the middle of 2024, we gonna get trailers of og trilogy remakes, or new gow game, or Atreus spin-off, etc

I need a dodge attack in barehanded it feels so odd not having one the shield swipe would be great for that i feel

An entire skill tree for bare hand attacks (shield combat) should've been added.

Imma disagree. The first barehand punch from 2018 is too slow for a light attack start up. Made utilizing it very tedious. The H2H flows much better pacing wise in Ragnarok. I do agree with bringing back the sweep attack for Hold L1. Also believe Agile strike needs to come back as an evade attack. It feels awkward without some kind of evade attack.

That punch takes to much frames plus it's slow so that's why they changed it It could've worked if we had an actual bare handed tree without shields but having it doesn't really add anything new. I'll say the only skills that would be worth adding back is guardian sweep and guardian's revenge and in the place of agile strike having a launcher like the arms of sparta shield. And rework the heavy parry (the parry on 2018 was a crowd control move that could open the door for juggling enemies with cyclone of chaos)

0:30 I believe they removed it because the first attack in 2018 took too many frames. Ideally the first light attack in any game should be extremely fast and have minimal minus frames. Every thing else I 100% agree on 💯

I thought the shields were lazy, and in Ragnarok, all the runic attacks are just recycled abilities, overall the combat it didn’t meet my expectations for Ragnarok.
