Why should the rakyat help companies which were mismanaged for years?
Sapura's problems have been known for years.
Now, the rakyat is experiencing the damage from the pandemic. Cost of living has sky-rocketed.
Many Malaysians are forced to dig into their meagre EPF savings just to survive.

My father worked as an employee in Sapura Energy Bhd under the Onshore Operations of its plants. He is a senior quality inspector. He quits his job and left the company last year after 5 years of employment. He was extreamly dissapointed with how the company manages its assets and its employees. He comes back home, telling all kinds of stories of how problematic the company is. Lucky for him that he left the company months ago as he knew the company is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy. When it comes to Sapura and other GLCs in our country, they always follow this mantra where its "Privatising the profits, and, socialising the costs". If the company makes money it goes to the people who invests, mostly politicians, cronies and Bumiputera elites. If the company fails, the Rakyat's tax money is sacrificed to bailout these companies. Bail out, ? Why no jail in? This is worst than day light robbery, during good time in 80s and 90s, everybody had been too hugely reasonably compensated, never had sense of thriftiness. It's going to be same repeated wastage exercise.

This is what we call Mother of Mismanagement. Why was no one monitoring ? Whose job to monitor such mismanagement ? Should have niped the problem in the bud. Someone sleeping on the job. Very sickening. Corruption, mismanagement, sloppiness, tidak apa attitude etc seems to be part and parcel of our modern administrative culture. Even God can't save Malaysia if it goes on like this. As they say ,''The govt has no business to be in business ''. That's why most of of them fail in their business ventures ,and with an overpaid staff especially the top brass or political appointees----that's where most of the money goes instead of being injected into into the core business which can generate cash inflow instead of outflow . Business knowledge by itself is not enough ,you still business acumen the soft skills in business . That's where the difference is !

they wont bother la. after so many corruption cases, NFC, 1MDB, MAS, Mindef land sold 30% below market prices, Proton, annual misappropriation/mishandling/mismanagement of BILLIONS in all Ministries as reported by Auditor General, they just don't care la. The other factor you failed to raise is that Sapura is a public listed company and therefore stand on its own for its success and failure. Sure they might have pay taxation to the country for the profit derived, but it is anathema to bail out any private company in the world as that is why they have management and professional help in running these companies. Once a bailout is done to assist a private company then the begging bowl will be shown every time a company is mismanaged and there is no end to these bailouts. Companies who made profit will seek ways to avoid paying their taxation from measures like transfer pricing to lower tax jurisdiction. Revaluing their assets to claim the loss as per the Donald's taxation avoidance measures. There are myriads of way to reduce their taxation obligations. So sad that this is happening in Malaysia.

The company stand and fall on the management of the company nothing to do with ultimate ownership. The directors and employees including even government officials owed a fiduciary duty to the company and for government officials the country. It is a common law duty.
