Did you notice them playing foot pedals too? :) This is Rush at their peak, and it was a long peak. Their string of albums from 1976-89 has to be the strongest musical run in rock history. Whether you liked them or not, no one could play better and no one sounded better live. This video has no overdubs or cross edits.

It never ceases to amaze me how much emotion Alex Lifeson can get out of a guitar.

I am a huge RUSH fan, I saw them a few times in concert, the last being in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Metro Centre in 2013, I lived only an hour from there. They are fantastic musicians, you would be hard-pressed to find better and Alex Lifeson does not get the credit he deserves, he is one of the best guitarists of all time. One cool thing most don't know is that Geddy and Alex have their own brand of beer (Rush Canadian Golden Ale), I was the first person in Alberta, the Province where I now live to purchase a case, I kept one of the cans as a souvenir, nothing to do with music, I just thought that I would throw that in as a freebie. Thank you for doing RUSH reactions, it's great to see them getting the love they deserve.

Hey Sarah, well this is certainly nostalgic. I was 14 years old in the late 70's and spending endless hours learning this very tune. This my favorite period for Rush. I saw them in 1980 and they looked like this . I recommend Cygnus X-1, both parts.

In the Rush documentary, they said they wanted to but couldn't do the original studio track in just one take, too hard, they had to do it in chunks. But this official video looks like it's live, one pass, in a studio or theater. I always wondered if they just wanted to make a point they could do it. Regardless, they played it live on the Hemispheres tour after that album release, and ever since, so they obviously conquered it. One of my favorite Rush tracks, especially love the first more melodic guitar solo section.
