1:16 Oden at Kuromon Ichiba Market - One of the things I wanted to eat before leaving Osaka was oden, a Japanese winter dish of different ingredients boiled in a light dashi stock soup. I found it in the Kuromon Ichiba Market (黒門市場), and it was everything I had hoped for - warm, comforting and extremely soothing. If you’re looking to try a street food version of oden in Osaka, Kuromon Ichiba Market (黒門市場) is a great place to try it.
3:53 Oretachi No Curry Ya (俺たちのカレー家)
Oretachi No Curry Ya (俺たちのカレー家) is a Japanese curry restaurant located very close to Namba station in Osaka. I was excited to eat there next, and I’m glad they were open. I ordered a katsu curry with an egg and a pile of green onions on top. It was excellent and very comforting.
Address: 14-13 Namba Sennichimae, Chuo-ku | Kawanishi Dai3 Bldg. 1F, Osaka 542-0075, Osaka, Japan
Open hours: 11 am - 9 pm on Monday - Friday, and 11 am - 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday
How to get there: Oretachi No Curry Ya (俺たちのカレー家) is located just on the east side of Nankai Namba station
6:40 Open Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses - 500 JPY ($4.15)
After a good lunch we took the train out to the Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses, a little trek from the center of Osaka, but definitely worth the ride on the train to get there. The museum showcases original farm houses from around Japan. I really enjoyed this museum, and would highly recommend it.
10:04 Torikara Stick - 240 JPY ($2) - After arriving back to Namba area of Osaka, we stopped for a quick chicken snack.
10:46 Marugame Seimen Udon (丸亀製麺 千日前店) - 640 JPY ($5.31) - We then decided to stop for a quick light early dinner and we ate at an udon chain restaurant. It was alright, not the best, but made for a good quick Japanese fast food udon meal.
12:41 Final Izakaya - and amazing sashimi platter in Osaka! - For our final meal and final bites of food in Osaka, we were just walking around the Namba area near the train station, and I wanted to find an izakaya that we could hang out for a bit to get some yakitori and sashimi. I’m not sure the name of the place we found, but they served us some more delicious yakitori, and an outstanding bowl of sashimi for our final bites in Osaka!

I'd like to thank you so much for this last 14 days of joy while I watched your videos. I discovered your channel just a view weeks ago, just love how you celebrate food and also take me on your travel, specially Japan is my all time big wish to visit, and now I just can't stop watching all those videos from all these different countrys :D What I also love is to see just from your mimic reactions if you like the food or really looove it even you say both times what a great food just to be friendly :D awesome! And what great camera shots, such high quality but still warm and charming like watching familymember holiday videos, thank you both so much and ohh I want to eat all that delicious food so badly XD BTW: we got here in Switzerland also a bid open-air-museum with old houses where you can watch the staff making cheese, saussages, bread ect or even herbal medicines and I love those museum, soo interesting to see this one in Japan. Again, so much thanks for you two, greetings from Switzerland (and sorry for my bad english^^)

Your videos are some of the best travel documentaries I have ever seen, much better than anything the BBC has ever produced. You get a real feel for the place by hearing about their food, and as in this video, seeing that farm house museum was simply breathtaking. Every place you visit makes me want to jump on a plane! Very very well done, and thank you!

Aloha Mark, In general Osaka/Kobe (Kansai) people are the most friendliest, outgoing, down-to-Earth people in all of Japan. As a rule Tokyo (Kanto) people in contrast are more prim, proper, professional, and might I say uptight in comparison. I was born and raised in Tokyo/Chiba so I'm not biased. I have friends from Osaka who are much more fun to hang out with though Japanese people in general are so nice. That oden looked great, and reminded me so much of my mom that dish being a regular item on out winter table. Did you try the hard boiled egg? That, daikon, and the kombu kelp tied in a knot my 3 favoritist things in oden. Mark, you and Ying should try Hokkaido next, a whole different world from the rest of Japan. I have a cousin in Sapporo that I'm dying to visit. Thanks for the great video series, made me homesick.

Hooray,we bought the Vimeo video and will indulge with a get together with plates of Japanese curry, chips and peas-don't ask its London. Today's food utterly rescued our impression of Japan and the wonderful people of Japan wild about food and having a life just like the rest of us well everywhere(except for the idiots who wish to rule us).Love, love the fried food and the abundance of pork and chicken heavenly. The winter street food was just salivating inducing and we have only scratched the surface of Japanese food.Sadly we have to say goodbye to Osaka and its marvellous food and fun loving people and a daily epistle from Mark Wiens-sad. Oh well, back to work and a video epilogue with friends with home made food and bought Japanese curry-see you on the other side and thanks again to Mrs Wiens and yourself Mr Wiens of course. Sadly can I say more please for your next adventure.

Mark, every time I watch your videos, which is all the time I even repeat them over and over, I end up eating. That ain't fair Mark but what I really know it's fair, is the fact that watching your videos and all the fun you have along with Micah and Ying, brings joy to my life. Thank you so much!

It's amazing how you just went to the places I pass by everyday. I've eaten at that udon shop, that chicken nugget shop before. And I've always wanted to try that curry shop before. Very nice series! Thank you for making these!

If there is one thing I've learned from watching all of Mark's videos, it's the art of the perfect bite. The way you make sure you get a taste of everything on your plate changes the way I look at food. Bravo Mark (and Ying!)
