In my game, a boulder spawned directly in front of Mickey's house, so every time he tries to leave, he's trapped between the boulder and the front porch. I could remove it, but that would be irresponsible of me to release a demon on this quaint little town.

I love Disney Dreamlight. It's really fun. I agree that some quests are a nightmare to complete but some are very unique. It crashes on the Switch a minimum of one time per play period which is annoying but I never lose much progress as it auto saves a lot. I glad I paid for Early Access because I like it so much but would definitely recommend getting the cheapest version (or just wait until it's free next year). The graphics fit the Disney look I think.

I'm playing it currently on Xbox with the monthly pass and it's REALLY good! Definitely not for kids though because the tasks can be quite tricky! I spent the whole weekend playing it 😂

It's been less than a month on early access and I've already got max level (40), all biomes unlocked, my house is fully upgraded, 5 Xbox achievements, and all characters except Eric at max friendship level. I'm also working on a spreadsheet. I'm both embarrassed and proud.

I'll probably stop enjoying this game when it becomes multiplayer and more cash-grabby, but for not I'm loving it. At least I'm getting gameplay for my money, which is more than the Sims 4 is offering me.

I feel like most people bought this game and didn’t actually know what Early Access meant. So many people are complaining about the glitches and bugs but you literally bought an unfinished game. And then there’s people who want to complete the game in two days that are complaining about collecting so many materials. They want you to play for long periods of time. What fun would the game be if it was so easy to complete. And for people that are saying there’s nothing to do after you’ve gotten everyone to level 10, you’re lying. You should be racking up on dreamlight for the upcoming characters that’ll be added, you should gather as many materials as possible for the new quests and storylines, and just decorate your village. Obviously the game will look better and function better when it releases.

There was a disney game when I was little that almost looks like this but online where you can do quests, gain money and I loved that very much. I feel so nostalgic now that I remembered :')

The time mimicking the real life time was awesome in the beggining, I completed all the characters and the last one was really annoying 'cuz you need to play the game in the morning, in the afternoon and at night to collect some especific gems that only spawn at each period, after this quest I needed to plant (and watering) a stone and wait 24 hours to collect it, as this was the last quest of my gameplay, I had nothing to do, just wait the damn stone to grow. untill this moment I though the game was cool, after that I played a game called Wylde Flowers, it has the same vibe of Stardew Valley, but it was way more interesting with a background story that keeps you wanting to play it, then I changed my mind about DDV they could add a really good story but they don't they just say "oh you're something... yeah do it".

Got it free on Game Pass for PC. Quite enjoying it. So far the only bug I've had was one I caused. One of WALL-E missions, he wants to trade collectables with Ariel, but he was refusing to path to get to do it. Turns out he needs to do this at a specific location in the beach, and I had instead placed a characters house in the way. What moving the house, the problem was solved. :-)

I've actually put 100 hours into the game already. I wouldn't buy the game for 40 or 60 bucks, but I love the cinderella dress I got from the deluxe editon. Most of the dress clip badly except for the cinderella dress, but overall it's really fun to play even though it's ridiculously buggy. I'd hold off for a couple of months. Especially with the cloud save bugs that can delete your progress if you switch platforms 😮‍💨 BTW my plaza is beautiful, because I decorated it.

I agree with most of your review. However playability on the Switch I may give a 2 at best. crashing 4 to 6 times an hour is a problem (autosave varies and I've gone in and seen that it hasn't saved in 6 minutes). This problem is made worse when the developers announce that they are going to wait about 3 weeks and apply the fix when they do the next update. If the patch fixes the game and the update breaks it causing crashes again all the users will ever know is that it never stopped crashing. I have to constantly (every minute or two) save the game so I don't have to redo stuff, and I have redone sooo sooo much not only is it tedious and repetitive it starts to get extremely boring doing the same task over the second time because you didn't save or there was no spot to save. When dealing with certain characters that are hard to call over to where you can talk to them (because they are in the water) you aren't going to save after a quest and before you give them flower after flower after flower to level them up and then woops crash. I'm using an Oled Switch usually but not always docked. I've not really seen a difference between the two ways. I can sit here and say if it keeps making me grind or keeps crashing I'll quit playing but they already have my money so I guess they no longer care.

I bought the Founders version of the game not knowing about the early access and all that. After a few days of feeling tricked that I hadn't actually purchased a game I still feel it's worth a purchase. Maybe not the Founders pack, just the Base game. I haven't used or worn a single item that came with it ( besides the turtle, love him ) for more than an hour. You get much better stuff by progressing the story quests. ( Also you CANT transfer from PS5 to the Switch like you can on other consoles. So don't buy it twice thinking you can lol. )

I bought the premium package because for the extra stuff as I always do and was disappointing to find out that my friends who purchased the basic game got the premium gifts in the characters mailbox the next day. So I feel as if I should be credited the extra $40 I paid for no reason. Other than that the game is fun to play I spend hours just on quests but so many glitches to deal with especially the game crashing and shutting off. Now the good thing is you don’t lose progress in your game but it is a hassle to wait for the loading screen.

I bought it its fun now but given the developer you know its going to become well, the sims and I bet will even surpass it in terms of paid dlc when you go into the main castle theres probably 30+ locked doors and I bet each one will be $50 a pop to unlock dlc expansion worlds I guess we will know the pricing when they launch the toy story world dlc expansion in a few weeks time... gameloft also made that disney racing game and that is FULL of microtransactions so theres no question dreamlight valley will be even worse. Dreamlight valley has already sold 1 million copies even as an early access title thats launching free to play early next year so the suits are looking at the numbers definitely licking their chops.

I love this game so much but what I love the most is that the team is actually transparent about the updates/fixes they are working on & when we can generally expect updates. After coming from EA's absolute lack of transparency & accountability for their broken ass game having a team that actually gives a shit about the game they're working on & their fans is a breath of fresh air and absolutely amazing. Is $30+ a lot for a beta game oh absolutely it's ridiculously expensive but for the amount of content you are getting it's alright (I think a more reasonable price would be $15 max for the base game one cause they still have to make money at the end of the day) but I have a lot more forgiveness for any bugs/glitches I see in this game than any other game because tbh I was expecting a lot worse & again it's still in beta mode so at least they're not shelling out a broken game & calling it a finished product while making you pay a fuck ton of money for it *cough EA cough Steel Wool Studios cough*. I think you were really fair with your review (although I don't agree with your game design rating, but I think that just came down personal preference), everything felt really well explained and made sense but didn't seem too harsh. Also 9:28 HAHAHA oh honey try 100-200 things of multiple items & all of items that are semi hard to get (if you know you know). Overall great video really enjoyed it!

I've been playing on Xbox with Game Pass and it's been okay. I have been enjoying it but I noticed some lag and then my girl's leg was huge! I don't know why it did that but her right thigh was so big like a balloon. I also had a problem with one of Goofy's quests. I was giving him an object and the part where it asks if I want to give it or cancel stayed on my screen as he talked to me and I was supposed to respond. It wouldn't go through so luckily it saved because I had to turn it off and back on. Otherwise it is giving Free Realm vibes and I am loving it.

You've hit the nail on the head. All the life sim games you describe, in all honesty having played a lot of them. are null at this point. I have this game and love every minute playing it. Lets just agree that: If this game genuinely screws 'the public' over then we really need to look at this.

you'd think being the massive company they are they would put in the money and effort to make it as have as much quality as animal crossing instead of hiring mobile game editors. but I wouldn't expect that much effort from disney. they're all about cash grabs so this is exactly what I expect from them .

I have so bad crashes on ps4 that it is unplayable at the moment, cannot go 5 minutes without crashing.. hopefully new updates will help! This was so much fun before the last update that broke it for me completely

I don’t think the price for this game is that bad. $30 for early access and a free release in a couple months is pretty good. Sims 4 expansion packs are $40 which is a lot less content for a much higher price.

All I can really say is that my experience with this game made me even more grateful for my Xbox game pass. I really feel for the people who spent $30, I feel like it not worth the price for the condition the game is in. They say they’re working on bugs, but it’ll be apparently 2-3 weeks before we get the next bug fixing update. So I’m just supposed to deal with 3 crashes a play session until then? Awesome. Thanks, EA- I mean Disney.

I had to restart my game since I had a problem with Elsa quest line where I needed to make certain food for her, and make something with a fish you catch in the rain. I caught the fish early before you finished the first item to get that quest to unlock. Then I decided to make the meal with the item I crafted to make it, and noticed after making it I lost the item that I couldn't craft again. I broke the game. Restarted the game, and got into a problem with Wall-E quest where I needed to pick up 3 items. I got both, but the last item which is the lighbulb got glitched where I couldn't pick it up, and didn't give me a prompt to get it. Which still hasn't been fixed, and I refuse to restart my game another time. I wanted to add this after restarting my game the first time I was able to do everything half the time as to what I did the first time with all the info I already know unlike playing it the first time. Pro skills at it's finest XD

I enjoy games were you have to grind but the bugs make playing it so annoying. Like sometime if I walk into my house or someone else’s I get sent completely out of the map and I end up having to restart my game.

You are probably too young, but the graphics are classic Disney. So are the characters - and it is what I love about this game the most. I *know* these worlds; I *know* these characters. It is absolutely super fun interacting within these biomes and with these characters. Note: I have played The Sims since it first released in its first iteration. It would be weird for me to attempt to compare these two games as they are completely different. Animal Crossing never appealed to me but Dreamlight Valley is amazing. I have played for 300.8 hours (as of today) and love it as much now as I did in the beginning. For me, it's an escape into a kinder, more innocent time from my childhood. Sweet nostalgia.

I personally like Dreamlight Valley more than Animal Crossing. I still love animal crossing but I like the quest system more in Dreamlight Valley. It makes the game less memorial monotonous for me

Maybe it’s my animator in me nitpicking, but the character’s run cycle is so uncanny? It has that mobile game vibe. I think it can be fixed a little if there’s an inbetween of the character standing still to running. Although somewhat harder to smoothly do, if college students can make that, I think the game company would be able to do so as well.

I bought this game not knowing it was in beta stage😅. I had heard it was free to play but I assumed they changed it later. I definitely agree $30 for a game in beta stage is way to expensive. And I have come across glitches. But I can’t say I hate the game it does have issues but it can be enjoyable.

Honestly, I don’t think this is a game that The Sims and Animal Crossing Community are going to fall in love with, mainly because this game is only 10% Building and Designing, 90% Solving Quests, which gets kind of boring after a while.

$30 is a lot of money for many people, and maybe it's not worth it for you. But here's the thing, right now, it's VERY VERY easy to acquire certain resources, and easy to acquire a large amount of the items and money in the game. There is A LOT of rumors suggesting come release time, the ease of getting many items and money, and even dream light will CRASH in a hurry and you might find yourself in a situation where items that looked in a playthrough or review to be fairly easy to acquire are suddenly much more difficult, or certain items that you could get by buying with in game currency are now behind a paywall as they realize they need to monetize it in some way. There's almost a guaranteed chance the game all around will be harder to play in general requiring a lot more gridding to get certain items and complete certain quests after official release then it is now. So if you want to get a head start and get items now before they require 4x the time and effort to get or moved to premium only, now's your chance. It's possible they will just allow for monetized expansions, DLCs, and simply add new premium items wile keeping the current acquisitions the same. But I have a strong feeling they will have to scale down the ability to get resources, gold, and dream light or tighten the stamina system a bit to slow down progress as it's right now far too easy to acquire to the point of almost being trivial for most dedicated players after just a few weeks of playing.

As I've said before, this is an old game just with new looks. "Move along peoples, there's nothing new to see here".

Idk about “EXPENSIVE”. For the amount of content as in quests, characters, side missions, collecting companions, different realms, things to do etc it’s definitely worth it for $30. Plus you also said it was on sale. You didn’t mention that buying it also provides you moonstones (micro transactions currency) you can use for the battle pass. Once again yes it’s early access but the fact they already about to release scar and Toy Story is very good. Another take we are in 2022 graphics aren’t crazy long as the game is enjoyable. Undertale, Terria etc.

Bought it in the basic version and played for a while. I didn't have any glitches on the PC, by the way. I had fun for a while too, but then I got bored. I'm not that interested in clothes and stuff like that. From what I've heard, these items are used for microtransactions. So, they wouldn't make any money off of me. But also the story itself is the same over and over and not challenging. You can get money super fast by planting dozens of pumpkins. Since this fact became known, it just got really boring. The "extra" challenges (the ones you're supposed to spend moonstones on) are just searching and farming, and the rewards are pretty ugly so far.
