Credit card is not a must . But having a credit card and using it for small purchase and paying it back on time is very be good way to Create a good credit history. Having a good credit history is important as more banks will offer you mortgage with better rates . If you have any plan to buy a house in the UK and don’t have any loans or have not used your credit card then you might not have any credit history which might deter some banks from offering you a mortgage and will miss out on very low interest rates offered a bank . This happened to us. So credit card is one easy way to create credit history. Use it for at least 6 months before applying for a mortgage.

Manoj Michael creating a credit history is very important. A car loan also helps you in creating a credit history. But there are many factors a mortgage Lender would consider when offering you a mortgage . The amount they offer depends on your salary , other loans ( if the loan is big, lower the mortgage amount ) and your initial deposit (higher deposit lower interest rate).so is the case with credit cards and other foams of loan . You can’t hide about these loans . When ever you apply for any form of loans the lender would do a credit check on you and that too leaves a digital trace . make sure you always pay monthly repayment on time . Any missed payments will reduce your credit score .

Priyanka Stanly coool one Here in Dubai People reduce the credit limit in credit card to max so that they get better housing loan amount. But if we have a Car-loan which takes quarter of ur sal, then they hesitates to move forward with housing loan. Thank you so much for the information.

Good video Sathyan. Just to add: Bank or building society gives loan for the period up to elder spouse's remaining years for retirement. Its best to put minimum deposit as the mortgage interest is very low than any other loan. If you have extra amount, buy a second house to give out for rent. Rent will go towards the second house's monthly mortgage. After few years if you want to sell, your profit will be much higher than any bank saving account's interest rate for your original deposit.
