Hey everyone! Thanks for watching my video, I worked hard to try to make it useful and fun to watch, and I would love to hear what you think. I am also looking for ways to expand my channel, so if you can leave a comment with what other kinds of videos you would like to see - other games, satisfactory guides, cinematic builds, etc. Id love to hear what you think. Thanks again and have an efficient day!

I actually like Caterium wire early game, because, I'm barely using Quickwire at that point. So I can use my copper for sheets, then.

Other games you may be interested in: Captain of Industry, Dyson Sphere, Timberborne. Satisfactory is a favorite of mine (really enjoy factory automation games) and I've enjoyed the ones I've listed here as well.

I would second Captain of Industry. I slept on this game as the didn't seem like a factory builder, but you get factory building a little later in the game. It starts out with more of a logistics.

Really nice of you to go over alternative recipes as that is part of game where my efficiency mad head struggles the most playing this game. Though I do not agree with all of them, it is great help for certain kind of undecisive players, like me.

Very nice video, thank you for making it! Spending around an hour early game just to unlock a couple of QOL recipes sounds like a straight road to the cheat menu on a second playthrough :D I'm really struggling to understand truck stations and why they even exist in this game. I have a couple of trains for bigger raw material deliveries, which I could realistically just replace with belts since they pretty much deliver from 1 pure resource node straight to a consumer factory. And around 50 drone ports that transfer high compression stuff like caterium ingots, aluminum casings and space elevator part components. I'm finally at the point where each of the phase 4 space elevator components are being produced at around 4/min rate, this is my fourth attempt at the game. Every time I started I could not understand why anyone would want to use a truck station. You need to provide them with fuel, record their routes which takes a tremendous amount of effort and time and most of the time the terrain is so horrible you have to create your own by building foundations over large spans. I started at northern forest and I have no idea how trucks would work here.
@Dekoba
@Dekoba 4 ай бұрын
I generally agree with you/ I use trucks and tractors because I like how they look and feel, and how they bring life to the world. They are just about the least efficient way to move stuff around though (drones are easier to set up but haul less and cost more to move about)

this is really helpful, i struggle to figure out the optimal alternate recipes for certain things - for example, right now I'm building a new HMF factory so I'm exploring the Encased Heavy Frame recipe to avoid screws, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it.
@CruelestChris
@CruelestChris 2 ай бұрын
It is, Heavy Encased Frame is one of the most broken recipes in the game because instead of making MFs to HMFs at a ratio of five to one it does it at a ratio of two and two-thirds to one. Compared to the default it's fewer Steel Pipes and fewer Encased Beams per HMF, and the only thing it adds is more Concrete. You can tidy up the fractional numbers by just Power Sharding the output of the machine up to 3, then it'll be 8/10/36/22 (concrete). Default at the same rate would be 15/15/45/300 (screws).
@JoshWarner1987
@JoshWarner1987 2 ай бұрын
@@CruelestChris Thanks! Yeah I ended up coming to the same conclusion and going with Encased Frames, along with storing some of the extra concrete for building supplies - made it so I didn't need an additional concrete operation. The best part is Encased Frames are so much more scalable with the lower part volume

Good stuff. I tend to look for Cast Screws, Bolted Iron Plate and Bolted Frames then sit on any additional hard drives until phase 2 for Steel. It's just planning ahead really and since you are not longer forced to take a recipe but can just exit out and back in for another try why not? Having Iron Wire when you need iron ingots for the best steel recipe is just a waste. True the waste doesn't happen early on, but I have never needed wire and couldn't come up with some fairly easily. In fact now at the end of Phase 2 while putting together the ACU in the multiplayer is the first time any copper has become an issue. And with the huge amount of wire that can be processed from caterium that problem just becomes running the conveyors really. I need 1 constructor then take the 120 wire about 200 meters. I have not stumbled across nuclear waste in a while, but can you no longer just place it into your trash bin and be done? That seems a lot faster than running to a storage to have to belted to another storage but still there. Have you tried just tossing it straight to trash bin from the doggo? Really would like to know if this still works.

Bolted Iron Plate is niche at best, almost always terrible. It makes the plates three times faster but uses *more than* three times the iron to do so. The only reason to use it is if you need massive output but are limited by power and/or space. And even then, it has to compete with the vastly superior Iron Wire/Stitched Plate combo.
@Dekoba
@Dekoba 4 ай бұрын
I agree with these points, I probably r ranked the bolted plates too high
@CruelestChris
@CruelestChris 2 ай бұрын
If you need power it certainly doesn't have to compete with the most power-inefficient recipe combo there is.

My dumbass was using caterium wire for the adaptive control units because there happened to be a node nearby. I really need to be less scared of setting up item transportation…
@Dekoba

At that point in the game is not bad, thus list was mostly for e early game. By the time you are making acus you need your copper elsewhere, so id say that's a good time and place for caterium wire

Hardcore disagree on Copper Alloy Ingot, Iron Wire, and Fused Wire. You can swap them around.
@Dekoba
@Dekoba 4 ай бұрын
Can you go into more detail? I was thinking about I am curious how you get them into those places
@CruelestChris
@CruelestChris 2 ай бұрын
@Dekoba Iron wire is terrible in the early game because you might as well use copper for _something_ at that point, and it's massively power-inefficient at a time in the game when power use is critical. If you want to save copper early, that's what Copper Alloy does, with a massive output per machine. Fused Wire is similar, high-output wire recipe. Early game even Caterium Wire is better than Iron Wire because it has miniscule power consumption and footprint while using a resource you really have no need for that early on. IW is for meme builds with 30,000 machines, not early game.
@upon1772
@upon1772 Ай бұрын
@@CruelestChris I use the copper alloy ingot alternate all the time. Sure its not as efficient as the pure copper recipe for pure copper use, but you don't need water, which is a huge bonus in some areas, and you don't need a huge amount of power to run all the refineries. I almost exclusively use this recipe as soon as I unlock it, because you can essentially double your copper ingot output by just adding some iron, which is the most common and abundant resource on the map. Doing so also uses essentially the same power per unit of copper ingot vs just using smelters directly.
@CruelestChris
@CruelestChris Ай бұрын
@@upon1772 Yeah, Pure Copper isn't really needed short of builds that minmax the entire world. I've done the numbers for a build that completes the final stage of Project Assembly in less than three hours and it still only uses 23% of the world's Copper despite using Copper Alloy and no Iron Wire. Also not quite true on the abundance, Limestone is the most common one. Even the hypothetical max builds can't figure out how to use more than about 85% of it.
@upon1772
@upon1772 Ай бұрын
@@CruelestChris Iron is more abundant on the map, but is used obviously in pretty much every late game item, but limestone is definitely more abundant as far as its usefulness vs node locations. Literally the only thing you need limestone (IMO) is for concrete, encased industrial beams, heavy modular frames and something in uranium waste recycling that I can't remember off the top of my head. Wish there were more uses for limestone for other alternates to make it more useful than just a quick way to make concrete at remote locations.

Original Crystal Oscilators recipe: Reinforced Iron Plate Cable Quartz Crystal Make a factory that takes Iron Ingots and turns them into Iron Wire and Iron Plates to make Stitched Iron plate - one assembler of Stitched Iron plates will make sufficient RIP for two manufacturers of Crystal Oscilators. Use one Constructor to use the leftover wire to make more than enough Cable for those manufacturers. Import Raw Quartz to make Quartz Crystal to complete the process.

That sounds like a great design for a crystal oscilator build. I will make sure to use it when I get to that stage of the game. Not really sure what your tastes are for games but something I found really addictive is Cultist Simulator, at first it looks like a deck-builder, but its really a crazy deep management game that uses cards as tokens for all the various items, actions, locations and people you deal with. Not everyone's cup o tea for sure but It totally blew my mind so I always try to recommend it for people you enjoy complicated gaming. Either way keep up the good work.
