A kind listener pointed out to me that the word "draught" on the first slide is supposed to be pronounced "draft". Sorry about that, folks! Please excuse my ignorance! 😳😄

"Draught" is the British spelling of "Draft." We in the United States do so many things anti-British just because it is British. And, that's a good thing!

The tune at "Hallelujah" really does a good job at conveying the emotion one feels when saved. I loved the whole song. Thank you so much for sharing. I can't express how soothing and healing it is to listen to these hymns. I really love singing along and learning the new ones.

That's exciting :D I picked up Songs Hymns and Spiritual Songs a few months ago after a video from Acapeldridge highlighted a version of Send The Light featuring additional music written by Charles Gabriel, nearly lost to time. Astounding! Additionally they've taken the time to cross reference individual verses, on many songs, with relevant bible verses. It's definitely a fantastic collection for any song/worship leader to have available. Thanks for this song too, I've listened to it several times while writing this :D

Hey Wes! Glad you grabbed a copy. Just as it's nice to have a few different translations of The Bible around, it's great having multiple hymnals for variety. And just as you mention, all of the extra notes they add to each hymn and even most of the verses! Pretty neat!

Thank you! I really like this hymn and this is a lovely recording of it. I’ve been listening to your recordings occasionally for a week or two and I can only imagine how much time and work it takes to do just one song. Not to mention all by yourself! I did church audio for a while and we only got into anything multi track once or twice , for choir prep. Oh, and you might be interested to know that the word at the beginning is pronounced “draft” (I had to look it up to be sure though 🙂). Because, you know, it’s English 🙃.

That’s a new one on me. I like it. Your balance keeps getting better. I only heard one breath. LOL now try for a little more expression in the melody. I know how hard it is to concentrate on everything. Good for you.

It's funny you mention the breathing. I actually try to keep the breaths in there! But I don't want them to be all that noticeable. There was a short phase of me trying to take breaths out a couple of years ago. But it sounded so unnatural. Glad you enjoyed the recording!

I do take requests but need to know when it was written before I can commit to adding it to the request list. Sometimes copyrighted songs are difficult to get permission to post here. Can you find out when Peter Neville wrote it?

I wish they hadn’t weakened the words by changing the chorus from “I have found HIM WHOM ...” to IT ...”

It's possible that "Him whom" is the changed lyric. I've looked at hymnal scans going back to 1882 and both lyric versions are present with "found it" predating the other by a few years. When I look at the lyrics of each verse, I think "found - it" makes perfect sense. But I also agree that "Him - who" sounds good too. Just wanted you to know that it wasn't me who changed the lyrics. ( :

Who is writing new hymns that are as biblical and theological firm and deep as the old ones?

Your question is a bit unlcear to me. Which "old" ones are you talking about?

@@acappellahymns This hymn is an old one: written in 1875. It's more about that other characteristics: biblical and theological truth, firm and deep. Not the selfcentered emotionbased songs in the category of the commercial praise&worship industry.

@@ODEMUZIC Keith and Kristyn Getty, Stuart Townend, Douglas Bond, and Jonathan Landry Cruise are some good ones that are strong biblical hymnists.

@@ODEMUZIC - Oh, I see. Yes, many modern composers are still writing 7-11 songs (7 words repeated 11 times). As TheDinosaurPlanet mentioned, those writers sometimes compose more thoughtful lyrics. There are still current composers writing traditional - Biblical - lyrics with traditional sounding harmonies and rhythms. It's just difficult to know about them because of how the music industry is structured. I have recorded a modern composition here by a friend on Facebook that is very Biblical and very traditional. I'll likely do more in the future so that we can get those songs out there!

I tried to reply to your comment, but didn’t know how to do it. I know what you mean by adding in “emphasis breath.“ It’s something you have to play with until you get what you’re looking for. I have never found a real need for one, except, perhaps, to join phrases over arrested measure. I’m used to doing the opposite, leaving silence where a breath is assumed. My last name is Abbamont. I guess what I meant is, I try to not edit breaths at all any more unless I can hear an unwanted throat sound during the inhale. I try to keep these as natural sounding as I can - breaths included.

@@acappellahymns Phew! Figured out the reply thing! I get it. We do have to be careful not to "paint" too much! LOL Artist's hazard. On John Abbamont's channel, look for Hymn 460. I rewrote the voice leading (chords) & some of the lyrics.
