I just bought a 64f and was having the same poor accuracy. After inspecting the rifle, I found both bolts holding the stock were quite loose. The barrel retaining nut under the stock was loose too. After tightening the 3 loose nuts, the rifle shot quite well. Apparently these loose nuts are a common problem for this model. I'll be contacting Savage to see what they have to say about their poor QC.

Good to know. I’ve had it apart a few times already for cleaning. I’ll have to check it out

Pretty good for a semi automatic 22lr! I have no doubt that with better ammo those groups would shrink. I've never been able to get groups like you did with bulk ammo.

CCI Mini Mags 36gr out of the Savage 64 seem to work well for mine.

CCI is a better ammo to use. I never use ammo in a box in shipping it gets nocked around in the box and the tip get dented and not keep shape CCI is in the tray they use and helps to save the tips I am very picky on my ammo and how it comes. With hunting deer squirrel rabbits and shooting in competitions. You don’t just use any ammo

I will be doing another accuracy test with cci mini mags and a few other types in the near future. Stay tuned for that.

I’ve had good results with cci mini mags in mine, and equally good with federal automatch.
