Saving a Rave Green MK4 GTI VR6 from being parted and crushed!

So here we are...yet another project. A side quest, if you will. Came upon this Rave Green Volkswagen GTI VR6 and couldn't resist saving it from its inevitable demise either parted or crushed. It's not all sunshine and rainbows as the car has its issues and I definitely have my work cut out for me, but my goal is to bring it back to its once former glory, and make this special color MK4 shine once again!

I recently just purchased a 2002 gti vr6 in rave green and mine has a 24v & it’s a 6speed, so idk if mine falls under the 20 made, the paint could use some work but hoping to bring mine back to life just like yours ! I purchased from an older gentleman for a steal and I I couldn’t pass up. Bone stock and 0 rust with just under 79k miles. excited for the content brother. !

Sweet ride picked up a 2000 glx mk4 12v vr6 last fall and love it!! In for some more content!

Rave Green is sick. Back in the day when I bought my 00 Relfex GTI GLX they had a Rave Green one also but it was a 1.8t. The VR6 was more important than the color.

Nice color I got a picture with one in nor cal next to my great falls green 7.5. but it was a normal golf from what I could tell

For starters water pump, Thermostat, crack pipe , coolant hoses/ all hoses etc............

Planning on it! Stuck in house mod mode currently on a longer video and car stuff hiatus than originally thought. Finishing up fixes on my new house and trying to get my garage back in car work/modding shape again. The perks of becoming an adult 😅

Rave green 24V is really that rare?!? I got one with 170k on the odometer that I'm working on rebuilding. Is there any good resources to find more out about it?

What did you mean with the vin number, what does it say when you have a yellow vr5 gti?

That depending on where you decode it, it may come back as a GLX or VR6, which are basically the same trim for the most part. Not sure on your car, we never got those in the states!

What’s the difference between gti vr6 & gti glx vr6 ?

In earlier MK4 models GLX effectively meant "luxury" like fully loaded variant of the GTI (VR6, bigger wheels, leather, climatronic, sunroof, etc.). After the MK4 facelift in 2002.5 where the 24v VR6 came in, all VR6 powered GTIs were all just called GTI VR6, and the GLX trim name was dropped.
