Too bad explanation was good but it’s hard to see because your not zoomed out far enough. Would have been nice to get a full zoomed out pic of both. Kinda hard to tell going back and forth and showing just the spots. Anyways thanks I think I’ll just figure out how to fabricate it without cutting and welding rear end from r32 since it’s hard to find.

man i miss mine, my first car XD. Dude off loaded it onto me bc they were like a yuppie turned hippy/hipster and wanted the money to like persue their indie band or something...just needed a clutch and tune. Man i loved that vr6/torque pre boost for cruising around and that spool/BOV for that sleeper effect just hearing the turbo bearings spool up once you hit the boost range XD. As friends growing up often had brand new cars/trucks....then it started leaking oil and having "problems" so i had to move it for a more ideal daily once life quickly got real XD....now that im grown and have funding im looking for that fun car/weekend car again. As much as i hate to say it id probably wind up in a subaru before i consider a Turbo VR6 XD. But man that thing was a blast just dropping a gear and boosting and letting the rev hang as the turbo would whine and blow off as id cut off buddies into the FWY ramps etc...off ramps...out of pure yongster fun OFC. If only i knew how abuseive i was to that poor thing...the 2nd owner that modded it didnt really put a lot of effort/budget into the build and i wasnt really that willing to toss more money into a better fuel/cooling system it already had me looking at bigger turbos/more boost....and i was a pre adult/wage earner not much to go around...and i didnt want the "future" of my life being a car addiction and a yearly budget towards that "passion" the more i worked...the more i wound up feeling like i was wasting my time and $$$ on the car...though it was a good learning experience i was still learning to drive at the time so i didnt really RACE it all too often due to a genuine lack of skill. Though i would have most likely totalled it or really damaged the transmission anyways which would have made the re-sale even harder/worse. I mean it had low miles was clean and retained its re-sale value pretty well....the guy already had a new turbo/kit ready to install and the engine itself and Clutch was only a year old...just my lil new driving twigself wasnt about that heavy of a klutch and the future/cost to own. I lacked the proper driving skills and responsibility at the time to hold on to a car like this. I also know im never going to get what this car felt like to drive in some up to down hill sweepers pushing it through straights...and down hill corners brake jabbing...or letting off to corner cut. That weight up front and ability to "push" it to pick it up slightly off the ground XD. Bc of the boost...i was pretty spoiled but spent just about every cent i had on that thing...though it was worth it for sure. I had like 280 hp and mid 250s foot pounds. Car had so much character before i swapped it for a fuel economic auto/daily XD. QOL boost in traffic which was also a lot more common than getting to actually enjoy the car...or chip the front chin spoiler on occasion XD.

Maybe the worst intercooler ever made, overpriced... i sold it for an 1000hp garrett core
@danny_vrsociety
@danny_vrsociety Жыл бұрын
Price is subjective, but I disagree on it being bad. It's not a bad intercooler for a street car or road course work where air is always moving over it. If you're drag racing you shouldn't get a tube and fin to begin with. That's not its designed use case. Also, this core is only rated to 600hp so it's not even comparable to a 1000hp garrett core.
@turbisios
@turbisios Жыл бұрын
@@danny_vrsociety my point is that you can pay the same amount to buy a garrett core. I did to mine a full complete stage 2 with sophisticated parts to make it bit faster that the usual. The evo3x had too high temps..and a garrett core intercooler sold my problem in the same price maybe cheaper than evo3x. Hybrids needs garrett core more than stock turbo ;)

@@danny_vrsociety you changed the crank shaft sensor and everything was good? I’m having problems with my Passat GT 3.6 VR6 and a euro shop has been throwing parts at it they thought it was just a isolated misfire in cylinder 5 but I TOLD THEM it had a crankshaft position sensor code on it when the check engine light first came on but they proceeded to have me buy all new plugs coils and injectors just to find out it’s still misfiring. I’m confident it’s the sensors and for the price I think it’s definitely worth a shot if not I guess I’m gonna have to part out or rebuild
@danny_vrsociety
@danny_vrsociety Жыл бұрын
@@MegaMatt1710 In my case yes, but I didn't have a misfire, and I'm not sure a crank sensor being bad issue would cause a misfire. I'd expect a no-start/sudden shutoff situation if anything. But hey, maybe the 3.6s are unique. A misfire on a single cylinder can usually be isolated to a part that's not common among the rest of the engine and only to that cylinder - so, coil, plug, injector, etc., on that cylinder specifically. However if you do have a crank sensor code, I would definitely attempt a replacement since it's so easy and see if the problem subsides before doing anything more drastic.

My 04 R32...shut off on me during rush hour traffic - bumper to bumper Long story short...a few hours later I limped home and it sat on the driveway for 6+ weeks. I replaced the fuel pump and the issue continued...I finally cave in and took it to European specialty shop....and yeah it was the crankshaft sensor....waiting to hear how much it'll cost Btw I've had her since 06 and I'm sitting at 230k miles.

Yikes I'd def go bar and plate, tube and fin heat soaks to quick and bar and plate would fit better without having to give up your crash bar
@danny_vrsociety
@danny_vrsociety 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought about it but got a great deal on this one and it just made sense. Bar and plate resists heat better initially but once it’s hot, it sheds it slower which is why it’s better for drags where you race once and then have time to cool off. Tube and fin soaks and sheds fast, so yeah it can gain heat quick in a non moving car but generally in a street car or something that’s not just built for a strip it’s fine. A lot of endurance racers go tube and fin for this reason since they’re always moving, and are generally lighter weight.
