Thank you so much to Savotta for the gift, it was an amazing surprise. And thank you to Joe Price over at In Forests and Lands‪@inforestsandlands‬ for his guidance on how to approach this video. Lovely soul that man is. Go check out his Savotta content and also learn how to survive and thrive outside!

This looks like what I always wanted my Jääkäri M to Be. M has been my daily partner for years but sometimes it's just quite enough and with side pockets feels too bulky to ride on the bus. But the Kahakka 25 feels like a dream come true for me.

Hello there! I found this video through the recommendation of Endurance Room; a channel I truly enjoy following. And I wanted to say how much I appreciate not only your review of this pack, but the refreshingly different way you went about it. (ie. the deconstruction of its conventional form along with suggested adaptations.) Very nice! But I think what I found most appealing is the sheer gratitude with which you received the gift from Savotta. That was the first thing you expressed in this video. And it says a lot about you. Thank you for this superior content. It is a pleasure to watch. Maybe bit long video(s) for some people (those are mostly like tiktok-adhd-people) but it just would not be possible to make shorter if you want to show all the details. And most of us want it that way, including me. Btw, it would be nice to see these bags and pouches used in the field also. I mean like endurance room-style (hope that I correctly typed that channel name). But he is using those stuff like in a bushcraft/hiking style so you can maybe do the city/urban version of that? And the last words.. Keep up the good work and spread the love of/for Savotta!
@Tim_Keys

You know, this may be one of the most inspiring comments I have received so far. Thank you dearly kind stranger, it truly means a lot. And as I would always recommend Endurance Room for items in use, your idea to split into the urban realm is something to think about. It may just be something I do in the future. My only concern being that I live in a tiny ancient town, so I can't get away with camera work in public without taking some hits to a decent reputation I have built here. And as for keeping up the love, that will always be easy with Savotta
@MrNomezOfficial
@MrNomezOfficial Ай бұрын
@@Tim_Keys If it is not (yet?) possible to shoot that kind of videos outdoors, maybe it can be sort of simulated indoors. Like how you pack your bags (what item goes where and why you prefer that). So like a example of usage. You have (for example) some way done that with those canteen bottles but I'd like (and maybe others too?) to see the example of daily usage. Just for the future ideas and stuff. And a touch of funny side to that too maybe. Like Savotta does on some of their marketing videos. My english is not so good within this side of vocabulary so I hope that I did not say anything wrong.. And I don't want to use the translator for a good reason.. 😄

I will definitely give this some good thinking, it would be something that would give some cool ideas. Haha the inside of my Askare is beautiful, and really it would just be cool to show some people too. It's hard when you think something is pretty awesome but no one is around to show it to. And as for english don't worry at all, and I get your not wanting to use a translator. I live in Europe now and do the same thing as you. But I can say that your english is fantastic, I would not know there is any difficulty for you. If you ever post a comment in your language, I'm sure someone around here may even appreciate it, and I will try my best to answer it in that language if I can
@MrNomezOfficial

Ok, I'll do that. But there are surely words that may not be translated correctly or even at all. But let's fo it: Olis tosi hienoa joskus ehkä jopa törmätä maailmalla. Kuitenki samanhenkinen porukka / ihmiset on sellasia minkä kans tulee hyvin toimeen ja löytyy jutun juurta. Jos joskus eksyt Suomen maalle ni saa laittaa viestiä. Ehkä ostetaan koko Savotan katalogin kaikki tavarat 😄 Toki muutenkin jos asiaa tulee, joku askarruttaa niin saa kysyä. Aika monesta paikasta mut löytää samalla nimimerkillä mitä kuvassakin on tekstinä. Kiitos hyvistä videoista ja pyri pitämään taso yllä! Ps. If you find that text translated funny or something, I may be able to get more corrected one for you. There are few things written that may be hard to get translated to the same thing. Or meaning of that original one.

Great review mate, appreciate the vid so early - I think I've probably watched through it 3 times already waiting for Varusteleka stock. I think I'm most excited about the removable shoulders! I'll be trying two mods with this: 1st) removing the shoulders and making a system to attach it to an external frame (Either my LK35 or Kilimanjaro 229 (Did this with the Jaakari S and loved it, couldn't do it with the M)). 2nd) idea coming from an old promo picture floating on varustelekas facebook somewhere of their old discontinued battle belt. They had taken the CP15, which has the same belt system, and threaded it behind the molle panels in the belt.. Bit pointless with a 15l pack if you ask me but could be quite handy on the Kahakka 25 with heavier loads! Backpack nerds? Not us...

Good video. I have the Savotta Jääkäri L (with the additonal big side pouches) and S (with Varusteleka "padded" straps) in green. I dont like them that much (due to my fault and not because they are bad). Its mostly because they look too military in green with all the Molle webbing. I wouldnt probably mind that much if i had bought them in brown. They are also a bit on the heavy side for my taste since being indestructible is for most use cases. The stock straps on the S are just crap and even the padded ones arent that comfortable either. If anyone wants to buy the additional straps buy the ones from Savotta because they are a bit better designed. They S now is my shopping bag since you can carry what youre able to fit into it no matter how heavy but small enough not to hurt my knees (like with my Alice pack because filling it up all the way i always end up doing for some reason). That said...i just bought the Kahaka. Less Molle webbing, well designed side pouches and pockets...and this time in brown. It will be my new EDC backpack. Right now i use a 460g 17-22L ultralight pack. Which is slightly too small to carry my usual EDC gear (including my work notebook) AND enough groceries. It could have been a bit lighter but a 800g difference for a bag that I carry less than 2h a day is not that much of a deal unlike the 2.5kg difference between the L and my 50L ultralight backpack (the new ULTRA100 is quite durable compared to the older ultralight materials) which would probably matter quite a bit with a bug out bag if you have to carry it all day.

When you multiply that by an army sized amount of backpacks the beans are pretty easy to assume. These are for the FDF, we just luckily also have access. That webbing adds a ton of weight, time, money, and energy to production when you multiply it over a filled shipping container.

@@Tim_Keys Yep that’s why I like these new ones where the seams are on the outside and taped as opposed to the jaakari M I have that is made in the way I criticized. I've skimmed this video more than once and it has helped me a lot. I'm still not sure if i should buy the jakkari M or kahakka 25. Will be my first savotta bag too. I'm leaning towards the kahakka25 mostly because it's new and improved. Do i really need the slightly larger jakarri M with that beautiful side zip? The jakkari hip belt is something i might never use and might be annoying. Decisions decisions 🤔 Does it even matter for a scrawny city boy like me? Probably going to only use it as a carry on luggage and whenever a backpack is useful. Either way thanks for the videos!

*Tim, are the G-hook side compression straps on the 25-liter Hakakka pack sufficiently long enough to allow you to attach the 12-liter Hatka day pack to the Hakakka pack when those bellows/folding side pockets are stuffed completely full?* If so, then a 25-liter Hakakka pack is definitely at the top of my purchase list as soon as they are available for purchase. Thanks!

Savotta just sent out email notifications regarding both of the Kahakka packs. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for European and Canadian vendors to receive stock for either pack. *I really want to be able to piggyback my 12-liter Hatka day pack onto the front face of a 25-liter Kahakka pack in conjunction with the Askare hip pack on my waist. Those 3 packs with a judicious selection of pouches, stuff sacks, and internal organizational pouches is really all the volume (and weight) that my 70-year-old shoulders, back, and legs are capable of supporting and transporting.*

Both together, it works great. No space taken up by that thin sheet and it provides a sturdy back wall to square off the load. Added benefit of protecting you and the bag from any pokey bits you might have missed

Was waiting on your review :) thank you for the content. It seems that can you attach the removable straps on the Savotta Hatka right ? With the current mods you have on it i'm pretty sure it does, your 2 buckles away from having it custom made, but curious now on the standard hatka with the metal D rings. The D rings on the pack straps remind me of the old girl A.L.I.C.E pack

Yes they are the Hestra Ergo Tactility. What I say next does not reflect Hestra, just this one model. I hear amazing things about their other models but I do not have them I burn through these as fast as mechanix. I can't recommend this model to you and feel good about it. The price point is pushing me away from any future purchase.

Thanks, i thought it looked like Hestra! I use the Ergo Grip Active - they last me about a year and a half with almost daily and periodically heavy use. I wish they lastes a little longer. From your description and the product description it seems like the Tactility model might be slightly less durable.
@Tim_Keys
@Tim_Keys Ай бұрын
I think that may be my problem and why I feel very weird about criticizing the product. It seems Hestra is amazing for colder weathers, but not great for what I use them for. I can imagine this set as amazing shooting gloves, but even just cutting the grass over a summer will destroy them
