Milwaukee 1-3/8 in. Diamond Plus Hole Saw
www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee...
Tap water is the cheapest and most accessible drinking water we have available to us today. However, due to poor quality water sources and treatment techniques, tap water might not be your first choice for drinking. Your reasons might range from bad taste to the fear of chemicals like chlorine, fluoride, or contaminants like lead.
Whatever the case, a Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System can be your answer to clean, pure drinking water! This video will focus on the installation of a home under-sink RO system.
You'll see the following steps in detail:
1. If there's no available 1-3/8" hole, mark out a suitable location on the counter-top and cut the hole using a 1-3/8" hole saw. If your counter-top is a hard stone like granite, quartz, or concrete, you'll need a diamond tip hole saw.
2. Assemble and install the faucet into the 1-3/8" hole.
3. Connect white 1/4" tubing to under-faucet.
4. Connect the feed water adapter to your cold water line.
5. Drill 1/4" hole through 1-wall of a vertical section of your PVC drain pipe.
6. Install the included drain saddle with the red 1/4" tubing inserted .6" into the drain pipe.
7. Place the system housing under the sink.
8. Attach the tubing and power cord to the back of the system housing.
9. Insert the filters into their respective locations.
10. Open the valve on the feed water adapter to allow water into the system.
11. Plug the system into an AC outlet (yes you need AC power under the sink).
12. Follow directions to flush the system.

Very, very helpful to see you actually install. I noticed you did not put the connection locks into place and still did not have any leaks... nice. I may have installed the faucet a tad closer to the sink edge, rather than the wall, to allow for easier cleaning behind the faucet. I'm wondering what the TDS number means, or is ideal, 008 out of how much is 100% of the junk, or is it only 80% of the junk removed?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheila, Thank you. TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids. It's a measure of general disolved materials in the water such as salts, minerals, and microorganisms. 008 is not a percentage, but the actual value and is a very low number for water.

Waterdrop can also provide a T-Adapter to connect your refrigerator water line that's under the sink to the RO system. This prevents you having to buy and replace refrigerator water filters. They will even supply a refrigerator filter blank so that you can remove the fridge filter and install the blank to circumvent the fridge water straight to your water dispenser, or ice cube tray. All Waterdrop needs to know is the model type of your old filters. My sink hole had to cut through not only the Quartz counter top, but also through the stainless steel sink, which I assume yours did as well?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers 3 жыл бұрын
Good info, thanks! I stayed far enough away from the stainless steel flange of my sink, so I didn't have to cut through that as well. The stone was enough!

the red drainage pipe does go in drain saddle. is there any work around for that?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers Жыл бұрын
The red tube needs to drain somewhere. Into the drain saddle is the closest and least conspicuous in most scenarios. However, you could have the red tube tied to a floor drain or other drain if your situation required it.

How do you align the drilled hole with the RO drain when tightening that saddle? Won’t it leak if it is misaligned?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers Жыл бұрын
You just eyeball it. The saddle has a gasket to prevent slight misalignment from causing leaks. Plus, if I remember correctly, the drilled hole in the drain pipe is slightly larger than the tubing hole in the saddle.

Hi, you can purchase something called Plumber's Putty at Home Depot or Lowes. Loosen up the faucet again and put a full circle of putty in between the countertop and the faucet seal. Then re-tighten the faucet. This should fix your problem.

I don't have power outlet under my sink. What should I do?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers 3 жыл бұрын
Power is required for RO systems to operate. If you have a dishwasher or in-sink garbage disposal, you'll have power nearby to tap off of. Otherwise, you'd have to run it there. This is an easy job for any electrician or handyman.

Is there an alternative to drilling the hole in the quartz? Does anyone keep the faucet under the sink or is that dumb?
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers 2 жыл бұрын
It would be weird, but you could potentially mount the faucet under the sink. You would need to make something that could fasten to the inside wall and then mount the faucet to that. Definitely unconventional, but possible.

Are we able to share the outlet for this Waterdrop RO with the dishwasher (using a heavy duty outlet extender? I’m sure Waterdrop pulls so little power compared to dishwasher (which does not run all th3 time) that it “shouldn’t” be an issue sharing the two appliances to one outlet.

I’ve installed my Waterdrop and have these questions: - no light on my faucet screen even as I turn on faucet all the way - does the UV thing light up when water flows through? - the pump running intermittently when not in use for a few minutes.
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers Жыл бұрын
The system does flush itself periodically, so you will hear the pump run every so often. The unit under the sink should display the TDC reading when the faucet is open and water flows from it. Also, the faucet should light up. If you’re having issues with intermittent power and lights not showing, I would recheck all electrical connections.
@Stewty1
@Stewty1 Жыл бұрын
@@JaredDesrosiers thanks. I realized there is a pattern - that the pump runs only after I get water from the faucet, turn off the faucet, the machine stops for a few minutes, then it comes alive after a few minutes, then stops again after 1-2 minutes.
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers Жыл бұрын
That’s normal from what I can tell.
@Stewty1
@Stewty1 Жыл бұрын
Just want to share what I found out - when I turned off the faucet after use, the pump stops running immediately but the lights on the machine stay on and after EXACTLY minutes, the pump starts running again for ONE MINUTE with the droplets LED appearing simultaneously then the humming stops and all the lights on the machine turn off. I’ve tested this three times and the outcome is the same. Looks like that could be the calibration process. Summary: the pump runs (1) when I turn on the faucet and (2) runs again five minutes after turning off the faucet to “calibrate” for one minute (55 seconds actually). PS I can see the UV sterilizer lights up while using the faucet. PPS the faucet screen still stays dark. I unplugged the faucet cord from its connection at the back of the machine and connected it again. Turn on the faucet, still no dice.
@JaredDesrosiers
@JaredDesrosiers Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the machine works. The faucet light is for aesthetics only, so it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t work. However, Water Drop should provide a replacement if you’re within the warranty period. Good luck with your system!
@Stewty1
@Stewty1 Жыл бұрын
@@JaredDesrosiers thanks. I hope they have a 90 day warranty period or longer. I wouldn’t be able to work on the Waterdrop machine as I can’t bear weight on my knee for about 6 weeks as I’m scheduled to have a meniscus knee procedure (minor operation) done tomorrow.

With a diamond tipped hole saw like the one I used, it's not hard. It just takes a while, but let the saw do the cutting and don't press with all your weight. The stone is a lot harder to crack than you might think. It's not like glass.
