Personally, I'd let the girls choose their flower girl dresses and they can go as poufy princess as they want. I *might* let them come to my dress fitting, but I wouldn't consider their opinions. They're too young and their fashion sense is ZERO.

I'd take the opinion of a little kid with a grain of salt. Kids at that age want sparkly, pretty party dresses- which is why they liked the third dress. Classic and chic is not in their vocabulary. The neckline of the third dress suited her best but the colour and overall style of the second dress was fabulous, but not something I would have gone for at six.

Exactly. A lot of people don’t understand that either, calling her a brat. She’s a freaking kid. We all had to learn empathy and to put others first etc. At 5 years old you don’t understand the concept of a wedding and how important it is in life and how the wedding dress should reflect you. The little girl just wanted her step mom to look pretty like a princess.

You are aware that the bride ASKED the 5yr old to come with her, and to tell her what she likes and what looks good? Like, that 5yr old is not like one of the mean adults you see on the show - she is 5 and legitimately believes that if her new mummy asks her to tell her what dresses look good, she wants an honest answer. The bride told her before that her opinion really matters to her. 5yr olds are not good at prosocial lying - saying something nice if they don't mean it to spare other people's feelings. That's why you don't take them wedding dress shopping. She was also obviously bored. The mom is clearly the one who made the mistake here - trying way too hard to be popular with the girls and kinda exposing them in front of a tv audience while doing it.

it was very sweet when the little girl said that she thought the bride was like a real mummy. It's difficult to set boundaries with step children, but you need to do it not just for yourself but for them, too. She is great with those girls and she was very patient. She handled it really well and she picked a beautiful dress. Five year olds like big poofy princess glitter and then when you get older your fashion style changes. That's normal. It's also normal that two little girls have a strong opinion but you are feeding into that if you ask her opinion so much. She probably would have liked it if they had approached it differently and hadn't made her feel like she could choose the dress for her step mum. I still think she handled it well tho and she'll grow even more into her new role as a parent.

As a parent, I do not trust my kids' style especially when they are this young. Their perception of beautiful and an adults' perceptions are completely different. It is asking for trouble. Some decisions are meant for adults to make while some are meant for kids to decide... As for wedding dress, personally not their call. The five year old girl kept rejecting the other dresses, it isn't like she has amazing style either. What does she really know about a wedding? I understand the bride's intent, but I am sure she can ask their opinions on another matter or be inclusive in something else for the wedding, but not this. The bride could wear a paper bag and still looks fabulous. I like the bride in the first and second dress. She looks so radiant.
