( very long post don't read it because it does get away from the Post). I played little league, VFW Teener , and American Legion Baseball in the 1960s for the same coach. Never once did he ever say anything positive about me in those eight years. I sat on the bench for almost two years and only played in 1/2 dozen games out of about 100. Tried to play baseball in college but flunked out and after serving in Vietnam I went to a different college and flunked out there. Went back to college and played small college baseball for two years when I was 27 and 28 years old. Our coach was a WWII vet and one of the only WWll vets that would even talk to us two Vietnam Vets on the team. I am glad these kids could laugh about their experience and enjoy it. I coached youth baseball for about 7-8 years and enjoyed it more than playing. I also played old man baseball until I was 38 years old. NOW that was fun!

This is a beautiful life skill you gave this kids!

Same here. But things have really changed since I played softball ( sucked at baseball). Youth league parents are a cancer. If we lost a game, even on the playoffs, it was not treated as the end of the world. Parents were way more level headed. Today you have Parents who think this shit is the world series. They need to go back to what youth league was like before private lessons and travel teams. A way to have fun, work as a team, and learn that practice can improve skills. Unfortunately those days are gone forever.
