There's a pandemic that's affecting the world and causing mass panic- some people, like our medical professionals, are stepping up to help others selflessly. Others, however, are exploiting this pandemic for their own personal gain. In my opinion, it's disgusting, and needs to be talked about. First I talk about MLM distributors who make wild claims about their mlm products helping cure/prevent coronavirus (mainly examples used are from Young Living and doTERRA, two essential oil mlm companies). Then I talk about other scammers who have said their product cures corona, such as Kenneth Copeland attempting to "cure" people of the virus through his televangelist powers that apparently can transport through tv screens, Jim Bakker who sold a "silver solution" and claimed that it would cure all viruses and went on to say some of the most outright outrageous claims I've ever heard, and Alex Jones who claimed his products, particularly his toothpaste, would cure COVID-19. Apart from people who have made outrageous product claims, some other ways people are exploiting the pandemic is through hoarding needed products and supplies. Lastly I discuss the immoral way MLM reps are attempting to recruit people into their downlines by using the fear of this pandemic against them. Former YL rep here. I was the sickest I’ve ever been last winter. I was still deep into my oils. Used them religiously. Whenever I questioned why I was so sick it was always “well you aren’t applying/ingesting often enough!” “Well you aren’t drinking the $70/bottle drink!” “Well you haven’t tried this $180 oil yet have you?” Always my fault. Haven’t used my oils this winter and guess what, haven’t been sick. Weird!

I’m so glad you’re out of that horrible company. I almost fell for it! I was literally so close to purchasing one of their “starter kits”-ridiculously expensive btw 😅 Then I did my research on YL and I was like are they kidding me how are they allowed to do business!? And pls don’t ingest essential oil or apply on skin WITHOUT a carrier oil 😭 Sweet lord, any real essential oil company with truly educated people wouldn’t recommend it 😕

But here's the thing. I am in this situation. I lost my job for the forseeable future. Im stuck in my home with my kids. Loneliness and depression is a real daily struggle. Knowing all that I know about MLM's, from education and my personal experience, these offers coming from people I love or admire look good to me. This is why its not ethical and needs to be spoken on. We are not in a normal mindset and will make not-normal decisions because we are scared. Thank you, Madison for speaking on this. Catching the premiere was fun and a much needed distraction!

I know how depression can feel so horrible, it can feel like the world is ending and it can be incredibly isolating. just try to remember you're not alone. people are, along your side, fighting this, everyday, day by day. know that one day everything will clear up. dark days can put us in the dumps, but it's the good days or even good moments or seconds that show us light and hope. hope you stay well and STAY STRONG

That's actually a pretty common description of psychopaths. It's not in the DSM or anything, but a lot of people who've met someone with antisocial personality disorder have reported that they had shark eyes.

the bit about people buying up masks just to paint on them and resell them at a higher price is interesting to me because painting on those n95 kinds of masks can lower their effectiveness so these people are potentially putting their fans who spend good money on them at risk as well.

Good to know. Seems to me that the smarter way to have pretty masks is to just buy one of the many scarfs/bandanas/etc being sold online and put it over your mask. That lets you have the pretty colors without ruining an actual mask.

I made my own mask 2 years ago and Drew the Greenlandic flag on it with the word greenland in English. I used a white cotten cloth, sewed it back when I had a sewing machine , I see no problem with people who are hand/machine sewing mask themselves using eather colored fabric, or making there own designs I have no issues with. If you make mask and sell them to some people for $2 or $3 I see no issue with that if you also donate a mask to a vunrable person or a critical need place ( like hospital or nursing home)

My husband is at high risk for any flu-like disease due to breathing problems. I had to pay out the nose to get him a mask for the rare times he goes out. These n-95 masks normally cost $2 to $5 each depending on where you get them. It's insane that people bought them all up and are charging $20 to over $100 for one.

I learned how to make soap from scratch. I make stuffed animals. My husband has been cut in hours. And there is no way it makes sense to spend money on MLMs in a general sense, it really makes no sense to spend money on something that no one can afford to buy right now. My stuffed animals arent selling right now. Im not going to push that. BUT, how dare these people talk about "learn a talent" when all they do is copy and paste the garbage their upline tells them to!

I just found out a girl who graduted from my college is part of some probiotic/supplement MLM. I legitimately want to hold some sort of anti-mlm awareness event at school (its small college). It's crazy, so many people just have no idea what an MLM even is, and despite having a college education they're still susceptible to it.

At least 2 companies did close there distribution centers H20 at home, and Avon. Literally the day before my friend had been posting about how fo you can get all of your cleaning products at home and then they closed.

Also, I have been loving Kenneth Copeland's nonsense about praying for the wind to blow coronavirus away. In one sermon he proceeded to tell a story about how when he was a pilot he would pray for high pressure systems because those were the easiest to fly in. Therefore we need to pray a heatwave to come and wipe out the coronavirus and then God will do it? Also don't forget, God will be mad if you stop tithing (aka sending him money).

I’ll be honest, i (WAS) pretty naive and was always trusting, thinking that everybody wouldn’t be that selfish when it comes to only looking out for them, but this pandemic really opened my eyes. MLM aside I realized that people are just genuinely selfish when i first heard about that man who rent state to state with a U-HAUL and bought up all of the toilet paper and hand sanitizer to resell for his own personal gain and didn’t have any remorse when he was caught. Then the price gouging began. And from personal experience whoever price gouged my moms supplies she needs for her diabetes is a terrible human being for making her pay 5 times what she would normally pay. I’ve come to realize that unfortunately the world is filled with disgusting, money hungry people who only look out for themselves and themselves alone.

During this time my mom and her coworkers who work at a biological testing facility that processes viruses, dangerous bacteria, and parasites all had no masks. They wrapped shirts around there face to handle the tb tests. It was terrifying and heartbreaking.

You're right what these people are doing is despicable. Preying on people in need is disgusting. There is another thing I really hate. That is people soliciting funds for a bogus contribution to a worthy cause. I got a message on my computer that said Doctors Without Borders had temporarily suspended individual donations, and because of that they needed funds. It looked suspicious to me. That is really low because they are stealing from desperate people.

I would love to see a video exposing Thrive. My mother in law u ses is every day and also sells it. She tried to get me to use it (I didnt like how jittery it made me) and when it didnt work out she got a little upset at me. I know it sounds like a silly thing, but I think she is taking it personally. She says she didnt have to pay anything to sign up to sell, Im just curious how it all wrks.

Im no scientist, but Im pretty sure its just a multi-vitamin and a bunch of caffeine three different ways. They also have a skincare line now as well

I work from home and so does my husband....for corporate America...and we bring in well over 6 figures a year. THAT is a career from home, not selling snake oils or pushing bull shit on other people. These MLM people absolutely make me sick with that ‘work from home’ mess. We all need to be thankful for those who work outside and inside their homes (actual jobs that is).

Mlms are certainly part of Corporate America. These mlm huns do a lot of work recruiting and trying to sell. That’s work. Most of them just aren’t getting paid for it. That’s what makes it a scam. And a lot of jobs and businesses, whether they pay well or not, are super unethical.

Definitely true about food service workers. I have a Masters degree but had to move back home after graduation to save money and earn my driver's license, and since I live in a small town the only job I could take on temporarily within walking distance was in fast food. Now I'm one of those workers that has to go to work because we're deemed an "essential service", even though I'd rather be staying safe at home. The privilege and just general ignorance is all too real with these hun bots, holy smokes.

I like how they've really velcroed onto the technicality that their woo-woo goo does kill pathogens in the dish is correct to enhance the grift. Cause it sounds impressive til you remember that sunlight and oxygen also do that and are free. Also that a lot of the options on that list have the slight problem of being somewhere from dangerous to outright deadly to damn well anything that isn't a prion. Coronaviruses die in the autoclave. Somehow, though, I doubt even the most devoted of instant pot fans aren't out there calling the public to pressure cook themselves to stop covid.

When I was 18 I worked in a grocery store & almost every time I worked an older guy with a suit on would come talk to me. One day he asked me for coffee & to talk about business. I thought he was legit I guess bc of his age & the suit. But it was just a set up to talk about his lawyer MLM. And how it worked was you paid a monthly fee in the event you ever needed a lawyer it'll be already paid for. Kinda like insurance but for a lawyer.. Also, you had to sell this service and recruit other ppl to sell it too.. I politely declined bc I thought it was ridiculous. Needless to say I saw him a few years later and he had on jeans & tshirt.. I guess he came to his senses..

She wrote to them, asking them to stop!! They didn't, and she ended up throwing away all correspondence from them!! They FINALLY got the hint, but months later!! This happened years ago, so it looks like Kenneth Copeland and crew haven't changed at all!! It's a good job that not all pastors and ministries are like his!!

I've always thought that they took the info found from the herbs and plants themselves and inflated it for the essential oils. Like how turmeric helps with inflammation, ginger can be a stomach soother, etc. Then they think that since essential oils are "concentrated" then the benefits are too. Not realizing that they aren't the same thing.

I was in the er this morning for an l&i incident and talking to the nurses. They were telling me how many people were talking about vitamins and oils protecting them. They also were saying they hear that a large amount of folks were saying they wouldn't take the vaccine in because it'll lead to autism. I'm in Washington State, a pretty liberal and progressive state, and these nurses were seeing this en masse. If it's happening here, I can't imagine how it is in other states, it's scary that folks believe this. Your videos need to get out there and show people that they're being fed bs by manipulative tactics. So sad! Thanks so much for your videos

What I find sad (aside from the obvious) is that they take this idea of „work from home!“/„freedom of choice!“/yadda yadda and use it to push their boss babe shit. You can ACTUALLY Form from home and make money if you do anything but join an MLM. a) my company offers home office for almost all office workers, providing them with a company laptop or setting up people’s private laptops. Meetings are held online and many other aspects were already digitalized. One big issue people are facing with this is work/life balance which leads to to: is working from home even desirable for most? It’s not as easy as it sounds and requires a lot of determination. b) People who develop their hobbies or other skills are often able to work from home through things like KZfaq, etsy and art commissions. Of course, these are not always super profitable but I‘m sure the statistics are much better than any MLM. Edit: ⭐️

Its unfortunate, but tons of scammers (and MLMs) are swooping in to take advantage of the panic. As a general rule when job hunting: Legit businesses don't ask you to pay to work for them. If anyone asks you to pay a fee or buy something (like a starter kit) prior to employment, odds are high that its a scam. As a secondary rule: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Proceed with extreme skepticism.

Meredith claims she can cure a variety of things (like cancer and coronavirus) and detect sickness better than an xray can, and Carrie does not let her off the hook. It's an intense and slightly uncomfortable listen.

By the way, as a grocery worker- stay the fuck home! Yes, everyone does need food, but please cut down the trips to the store. Have one person in your household do the shopping if possible. This is NOT your social hour. You will NOT die if you can't get your fresh bagel/ doughnut every morning. Don't hoard, but try to shop for a week or more to limit your trips. In the end this will cut my hours and pay, but it's WAY more important to flatten the curve. We're coming into work every day to make sure things keep running, please do your part to not get us- and others- sick.

I am actually interested in knowing if these bossbabes (omg, I wish I could have captured it to share, but the autocorrect on my tablet changed "bossbabes" to hostages 😂😂😂) will finally come to see that their "income" is dependent upon the actual earnings of other people & with those people now having severely limited or completely absent income they're not buying mlm 💩 so the bossbabes have no actual income coming in themselves. Maybe this time will show them the reality that whatever they "earn" is immediately lost to the inventory they have to purchase & repurchase. One of my truest hopes is that when this is over, mlms will have to stop all of their predatory practices & operate only with actual employee s paid a living wage going forward with no more independent sellers subject to compensation plans that ultimately mean you're paying that business to "work" for them.

Watching this 2 & a half years later is so strange because we now have a vaccine & life has moved closer to what our normal used to be before covid... however we aren't back to pre-pandemic life yet. I would love to see a follow-up on all these MLM girl bosses to see who ditched the snake oil once a vaccine became available & who leaned farther into their MLM snake oil, and if that's the case are they still alive.

I have ranted about exploiting this crisis so much that I am not starting again... :D BUT. The economy is taking a deep dive and a lot of businesses are facing bankruptcy, people are losing their jobs and these MLM people think that MLMs are still thriving?! When people don't have the money, who do they think they are selling to? Honestly, pretty much all businesses are affected and a lot of them are even going down but for some weird reason, this economic situation doesn't affect MLMs...?! Their logic is so weird. Again.

Silver is made by putting silver into distilled water then, using a battery it releases an electrical charge releasing the silver into the water. (Sorry should have used a thesaurus) You can find it in a lot of health food stores. When I worked at a senior’s residence the manager had it as part of the treatment for bedsores. I can’t say it helped but there are so many people who are desperate and willing to try anything they are being preyed upon for their money. It’s sickening.
