I watched this series in out order seasons, with season 1 being last and my fuzzy memory tells me that it becomes more of a thing in the later seasons.

At this point in the series, Lacroix is assumed to be dead.

There are numerous songs by nonwhite artists about how hated the police are like NWA's "fck tha police" and Krs-one's "sound of da police" both of which are well known and quoted, anti-police murals, communitities advocating for police to stop terrorizing them and idk all those huge protests in the past over how police just murder people and commit other abuses with immunity

But weirdly court isn't one of them. It's difficult to conceive of a police detective not being called to give evidence regularly. And the last time it happened being with another force, in another country a whole century before ? Nah, that's not a thing. I don't think you get to be part of a Canadian city police department for what they would consider a significant portion of a career without having gone to court even once, previously. Not without the failure of a lot of prosecutions because the investigating officer didn't show up.
