It is the Venom from the comics though. Despite the symbiote not attaching itself to Spider-Man first, everything else is comic accurate with Venom being an antihero in some comics.

The Venom films have it's problems but the stuff between Eddie and Venom is so entertaining to watch. You can tell Tom Hardy is having the time of his life filming these movies. Hopefully Sony can hire some better writers to make sure that Venom 3 has a good plot and good villain.

@@setyx. It just felt pretty forgettable and underwhelming really. If this film was a R-rated horror comedy, it would give the creatives more freedom to implement scenes that would legitimately terrify the audience and implement dark humor with Venom and Carnage.

He's literally a part of Eddie, not just body, but also mind, hence "You and I have no secrets from one another" and also knows which buttons to push and not to push, so he could take him on easily. Carnage on the other hand is obviously a red one, which Venom considered the worst kind of symbiotes, so, it's pretty reasonable why he's very hesitant.

I really expected much more from a Venom sequel (especially one with freaking Carnage) than Eddie and Venom bickering and the main villain feeling like an afterthought for most of the movie.

He could, but Venom would not survive that long without Eddie. Venom needs a compatible host to survive and I guess that would be hard for him to look. The longer he is without a compatible host the weaker he gets and eventually dies.
