I like the look of this as is, too, but really, a piece this small, using even exotic woods wouldn't be unreasonably expensive. If you really didn't want to see plywood edges, using real wood would be very affordable.

Perfect complement with your Schiit components. Nicely done, especially with scraps. I always keep my scraps from woodworking projects, never know when they are just what you need. What kind of plywood do you use?

My headphones break pretty often in the shop, so I don't get anything super expensive. I recently got a new phone and these came with, so... convenience, I guess. Also, have you compared EarPods to more expensive headphones? They stack up pretty well.
