My Schumacher SC1281 no longer works after it was exposed charging a battery during a rain. Is there something to check on it that could be an easy fix or is it good for the landfill?

I can't say for sure. I would assume it's toast.

No offense but this was not very informative. You don't want to read the instructions because it's only a battery charger, but then you find out you actually need to read the instruction manual. You tried to charge a battery without checking the fluid level first, (bad idea), then when it didn't charge you still don't check the fluid level. This didn't really tell us anything about the battery charger other than the price.
