Which is not that much in terms of making the furnaces only 8 boxes but in terms of making all those furnaces functional is absolutely insane.

@@stuffy3320 yeah absolutely that's what I wanted to convey. usually players in survival tend to rarely go above 32 furnaces simply cos it's too much effort and because of how furnaces get exponentially more complex with scale and because noone needs that crazy amount of items smelted, it's absolutely nuts to think that these guys went ahead and put a shulker full of them in a furnace array and it functions perfectly

@@no-hc2ko Yea in my Bedrock world onps4 ( I am now on a pc well, a laptop but it has really good specs will be buying Minecraft and making videos soon ) I had a 38 furnace array which was enough for my needs!

@@stuffy3320 38 is pretty adequate for most late game needs if you won't be smelting a lot of things. although the fact that it's 38, and not 32 makes me a little uneasy

furnaces are a finicky thing. adding ten more furnaces probably would've slowed the system down because then they wouldn't be putting an item in every ten seconds and furnaces would be sitting empty.

@@SilvaShadow1990 hoppers try to suck items from the air or from containers (shulker, chest, barrel, dropper, dispenser, composter, etc...). When they have a container above them, they will suck only from the container, so the less slots the container has the better the lag reduction. Sucking from chest barely reduces lag because it has 27 slots and is a Tile Entity, while a composter has a single "slot", so the code takes less time to execute.

Most designs I see now include composters over any hoppers that need covering

It actually works pretty well, you can try it yourself with carpet mod ( just rund the command "tick health" and compare)

@@RisingRevengeance they haven't gotten better, their code never changed. Covering hoppers with a container (use composters, if can't, use droppers as 2nd best) is good practice, but if you want to reduce lag even more, lock the hoppers.

Some items like sand, cobble, netherrack, probably others can only be smelted in a furnace so at best you'd want a+b+c%. Might as well build a blast furnace array and a smoker array as well as the regular one if that's what you want.

@@nicolacarswell9888 Ah yea I figured that out after testing, I wish the furnace system got more improved & so you could make more weapons, like with different grips, so far we only have the wooden grips for tools, it's pretty disappointing. As well with not being able to duel wield tools like axes, pickaxes, swords & stuff. More shield types would be nice.

@@nicolacarswell9888 Also food needs a rework, they should add something called the food container, what it does is converts food directly into hunger & saturation points & stores it in the container, can be done with multiple foods in the container & Minecraft should show hunger % saturation on food with extra tooltips while showing the saturation bar above the hunger bar.

@@nicolacarswell9888 Also there's the problem of not being able to use 1 wooden plank with 1 stick to cook 2 different items. So Minecraft should add an advanced version of each furnace variant which you can queue items.

@@vihaanravishankar3989 That is wierd. Maybe it is to prevent issues with the cooldown and a hopper minecart wouldn't be able to reliable suck out the items? Now that I think about it, Mango might have talked about it when he designed the furnace array for Scicraft, but that was like two years ago

@@racernatorde5318 They can suck from the furnaces, many good designs use that.

Its to account for mixed item type boxes. Since we recycle the hopperminecart that distributes the items to pick them up again there is some time in between the furnace finishing smelting and the item beeing picked up. If you would not have the hopper underneath, the furnace would not start smelting the next item type untill the smelted item has been removed from the output. That would mess up the Timings and items would start backing up

Hoppers are constantly searching for items on top of them, using a block like a composter or furnace turns that off to make it more lag friendly.

@@netherwarrior5315 it doesn't turn that off, it switches where the search is done. Instead of searching air, it searches the container above it which is usually more efficient.

Hoppers are constantly checking if they can suck an item into them which can cause massive lag if you have a lot of hoppers. Furnaces and composters help reduce lag

because the hopper doesn't check then any more, if an item is above it, so it reduces lag

Also if you are using hoppers to carry items down you can replace every other hopper with a chest or something to reduce lag
