Cat Goddess gets sadder when you realize he’s a hard worker and could earn good grades. However people are too interested in his athletic ability that they try to dampen his ability to study and overall inhibit his growth. He’s a walking sports machine to them

@@williamnguyen8663 Yes, people are naturally prone to stereotyping everyone. In Ray's case, he probably could have been something more than just a good sportsman, and likely even combine these qualities. Yet the society pressures him to be who they perceive he should be, not only because it is more "profitable", but also because this is a more comfortable way to understand reality.

This is so true it's sad. There are specific classes that are only open for athletes to take and the average grade is like a 98%. It's so disappointing. I got a B in a class because I didn't fully understand quantum mechanics in chemistry. A friend of mine who is a basketball player got an A in an athelete-exclusive course (of the same course value) for writing a two page paper on why exercise is good for you. You can't make this shit up.

Playing devils' advocate, a lot of sport colleges get funding specifically because of their athletic programs and the attention they receive. It sucks, it's unfair, but it's life. Worry about the "B" you earned and not the jock who was given an "A." He'd have been given the "A" whether you received your "B" or not.

@Godz Elite, that isn't very Christian like. The guys you're slinging mud at would probably not have had the ability to attend school, but because of their athletic ability they did. Thus giving them an opportunity to contribute to society. I don't know what kind of Christian you call yourself, but you're not representing my faith very well. @@RichardRpond Jesus, what a creep. "Contribute to society?" Most college athletes barely have a chance to take advantage of their "education." They're pushed through "paper courses," given easy rides in the normal classes, and toil at the gym and in practice. And since most never make it to professional-level sports, a lot them find that they might've been better off if they'd skipped college and put their muscles to work in construction, or just entered the workforce with a mere high school degree and accrued four years of work experience.

This was pretty hilarious. Cena has awesome comedic timing. But as a professor, I can verify that none of us (at least, nobody I know) would go easy on an athlete. We do, however, have to notify administration if any student athlete starts doing poorly so that the coach knows to ride them. So there is a bit of hand-holding that goes on, but not from the professors. I've never been pressured from admin or athletics to pass a student that didn't deserve it. I have had students beg me to pass them. Sorry my man, you had every opportunity to pass the class like everybody else. I'm not a professor at Alabama though. So there is that...

I can’t overstate how accurate this is. Anyone know LeBryan Nash? How about Marcus Smart from the Celtics? I went to Oklahoma State with them and had one class each with Nash and Smart. Neither of them showed up for about 90% of the class, and in one case, missing more than 15 days was automatic failure. OSU has a “rule” stating that athletes who do not show up to class or fail a class are ineligible to play. But did either of them get penalized? I think we all know the answer. What an absolute privilege it must be to be tall and good at playing games.

We don't have a football team and yet we have a 25% acceptance rate and are ranked in the top ten for International Studies and top 30 for Journalism, with alumni such as suffragist Alice Paul, Judge Judy Sheindlin, and journalist Alisyn Camerota. You could also look at George Washington University, with an acceptance rate of 35%, which has graduated Senator Tammy Duckworth and National Security Advisor Colin Powell. They also have no football team. But yeah a university definitely needs a football team to be successful.
