There is an unexplained gravitational Anomaly in the Indian Ocean. It is called the Indian Ocean Gravity Hole. Due to this gravity-hole Sea Level in this area is 106 meters below the rest of the places. Scientists were unable to find the reason for this phenomenon for a very long time. But last week, two Indian scientists announced that they have found the reason for this phenomenon.

ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിൽ ഭൂമിയുടെ ഗ്രാവിറ്റേഷണൽ ഫീൽഡിന് വളരെ വലിയ ഒരു Anomaly ഉണ്ട്. Anomaly എന്ന് വെച്ചാൽ അസ്വാഭാവികത, അപാകത എന്നൊക്കെയാണ് അർഥം. The Indian Ocean Gravity Hole എന്നാണ് ഈ ഗ്രാവിറ്റേഷണൽ anomalyയെ വിളിക്കുന്ന പേര് . 30 ലക്ഷം ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ ഏരിയയിലാണ് ഇത് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നത്.
ഈ ഗ്രാവിറ്റേഷണൽ anomaly കാരണം Indian oceanഇലെ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെ സമുദ്ര ജല നിരപ്പ് ഉള്ളിലേക്ക് വലിഞ്ഞ പോലത്തെ ഒരാവസ്ഥയിലാണ് ഉള്ളത്. അതായത് ഇവിടുത്തെ sea level ഭൂമിയുടെ മറ്റു ഭാഗങ്ങളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് 106 മീറ്ററോളം താഴെയാണ്.
ഈ ഗ്രാവിറ്റേഷണൽ ഹോളിനെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാർത്തകൾ പത്രത്തിൽ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, ഇത് ഇനി വല്ല ബെർമുഡ triangle പോലെ വല്ലതുമാണോ എന്ന് ചില സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾ ചോദിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.

അതായത് ഇന്ന് ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാ സമുദ്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് കോടിക്കണക്കിനു വര്ഷങ്ങള്ക്കു മുൻപ് Tethys എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു പുരാതന സമുദ്രം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ആ സമുദ്രത്തെ ഭൂമിക്കടിയിലേക്ക് താഴ്ത്തിയാണ് Indian ഉപഭൂഖണ്ഡം ഏഷ്യൻ വൻകരയുമായി ചേർന്നത്. ഈ സംഭവത്തിനു ശേഷം പുതുതായി രൂപം കൊണ്ട സമുദ്രമാണ് Indian ocean. ഭൂമിക്കടിയിലായി പോയ Tethys സമുദ്രമാകാം ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ഈ ഗ്രാവിറ്റേഷണൽ ഹോളിനു കാരണം എന്നാണ് പുതിയ കണ്ടെത്തൽ
