I don't know if this would help, but maybe say that you're playing a game with your friends and you're practicing a deeper voice for one of the characters? that's what I'm giving to my similarly transphobic mom right now, because we're playing ace attorney and my voice is too high for one of the characters. so maybe that excuse could work for you too?

This was such a straight forward exercise to show people how to create a deeper voice. Other videos go into the theory and get overly wordy by trying to describe techniques like speaking from the chest vs head voice, lengthening the vocal chords, resonance. Which is all well and good, but the thing is when someone doesn't already know a skill, describing it in just or mostly words is often a poor lesson because the learner doesn't know what the end result should be or how to perform the action. So they take their already incorrect practices and apply them to the descriptions of vocal techniques while still repeating the same mistakes. What I love about your video here is you both describe the technique (dropping the voice box), but also give a plain and dead simple technique for how to actually PERFORM the desired result. That's the key thing that makes your video stand out to me. Thank you for your lessons!

If its just to have a masculine voice during a few minutes, you can take a note, keep it, ascend your head while holding the note, then to lower the head whithout stop the note, try to do the most deep note, and your voice will be more deep during a short Time (Sorry, i'm french)

For any genderfluid people, like me, or cis women looking for this for voice acting, this is the same kind of exercise you would do as an alto in a choir class! You open up the back of the throat to allow that richer deeper sound though! Just make sure you also remember to not neglect your upper range and your ability to *safely* but smoothly transfer between the both. Don't just focus on one

Unfortunately, it's the middle of the night. This is gonna have to wait until people are up. Thank goodness my training in choir has helped a little, as has trying to mimic people's singing voices. The throat feel this has is like when I mimic France or Germany from Hetalia.they both have a very full, round sound to their voice. It's hard to accomplish when I'm not singing, though. When I tell people I want a deeper voice, they often just tell me to do T, but I'm not a guy and I don't really want everything else that comes with T, just the voice.

@scootergoat01
@scootergoat01 2 жыл бұрын
There are definitely ways, but that is a much more complicated subject. It’s going to be highly individual how and when those modifications are made, and it can take as long as 10 years of singing to develop that properly. The best thing for developing a masculine-voiced singer’s high range is going to be lessons, and we are happy to give lessons to those that are interested.

Hello there! My apologies if you have answered this somewhere else, but I must inquire; I've been consistently able to feel a change of SOME kind when I practice these exercises, getting a decent deepness. However, I end up with a... I suppose "Patrick Star" effect, where it sounds less richly masculine and more like someone's slowed down a video and sped it up without putting the pitch back. It sounds very ridiculous when I try. Is there a specific reason for this, or is it a more nuanced problem? I can hold the voice for as long as I need to without strain, but it just sounds flat out cartoonish!
@scootergoat01
@scootergoat01 Жыл бұрын
Hi! There is going to be a lot more nuance than just this one technique, but doing the most good would involve being able to analyze and give feedback in real time. There’s too many what-ifs to be able to say for sure without working with someone. If you’re interested in that, you’re welcome to book lessons with me through my site.

Hi Anna I’m a trans guy and just wanted to know if I sing in a higher pitch than what I want my talking voice to be while doing these exercises would it mess up my vocal chords? I want to still be able to sing high but also low is that possible?
