New to the scooters here. My son has a stock 2013 quattronove 50x, we are wanting to keep it stockish but would like to make it quicker than 50km/hr. Would this clutching do this or not?

First explanation I’ve seen that completely and clearly describes what a variator is doing and how roller weight affects the rpm at which the pulley’s effective diameter changes as well as the rate at which that change takes place all else being equal. Excellent video! Subbed and liked.

thanks bought a DLH variator for my nouvo elegance 135..couldnt figure out why it came with 3 10g 3 11g 3 12g plus three red springs.being 200lbs the 10 and 11s work great..thanks

Thanks you so much🦘👍. You can run 3 rollers for a short trial only, Not to do long term, double the wear and short lived. Recommend to find the correct total weight, then divide by 6 and then use 6 rollers for this single weight. Trial 6 rollers of the weight 5.5gram, so the total weight is 33 grams. If you do 3 rollers of this weight (5.5g) the engine will rev but the acceleration will drop away after the first 2 or 3 seconds as the weight is not enough to progress the belt through the variator..

Very good explanation on how a varaitor works with different weight rollers. My question is, during your explanation I noticed that you are only using the round type of rollers. Can you please explain what the difference is between the Dr. Pulley brand roller weights. That have more of a cam lobe instead of just being round round. Like the ones you are using in this video?

Rollers and Dr pulley actually slide they dont roll. Dr pulley has a fixed sliding surface and at the same as the rollers, Dr Pulley have a very good method of action where the rollers can be used in different surfaces of the diameter. It all depends on the material the rollers/sliders are made of for longevity.

You have such great content on you chanel, I shreaded my CVT belt on my gy6 50cc 4 stroke, and replaced it, the belt had no size on it so I think it small case so I went with 669x18x30,,,put everything back together and it wont start,,,replaced battey, coil, plug ,CDI, nothing,,,,could a wrong size belt prevent it from starting? Could I take the belt off and try to start without it on, so frustrating at this point, any advice would be awsome,, TY again!

Thanks for great comments. Sounds like something is bound up. You need to reset the variator, when the belt blows apart the variator usually will get stuck in high gear. Have a good look through the transmission as well, pieces of blown up belt often work their way into crucial moving parts like the pinion gear, etc.

hello, I really like how knowledgeable you are with the aprilia sr50. my year is 1999 and 2000 carb model. I'm interested in making it rear facing carb but not sure of the modifications I will or might need to do. I had one before but I had stage 6 rear intake with 28mm pkw carburetor. I'm not sure what mod if there was one to make this setup work. can you help me figure out this? I want to duplicate what I had. just not sure of the frame modification. do I need to do this?

Hi great video. I used NCY 12g rollers and managed to get my Honda Navi up to 52mph. But at the top end speed I’m getting a vibration, any thoughts on why? I did notice the 12g rollers have different looking sides on them. Do you know if they all have to go in the same direction? Rollers did not come with any directions and can’t seem to find any information or videos on it. I’m thinking I’ve reached peak performance with the 12g rollers but not sure. Any thoughts or suggestions Thank you

The vibration could be coming from any rotational part. All parts must be checked and balanced.

Hi guy, i have some question: -what is your recommend clutch shoe material for stop-and-go city riding!? -stock clutch shoe (soft) and carbon-kevlar shoe(hard), which one hit the bell rapidly, and give the best friction force!? -if i choose the more friction shoe, i must choose lighter roller weight to avoid the belt from slip, isn't it!? -for normal riding everyday, we must take off at high/full throttle or just slightly throttle!? -Clutch material: Standard clutch is fine, always maintain and clean the shoes and bell housing, upgrade to a higher class when wear is present. -Stock clutch shoe: Street spec or Race spec! Choose what you need for the riding type your doing. -The trans should be balanced, example: if race class go with race class for the entire system. The roller weight determine rpm and also top speed. - Throttle: Depends on the scooter cc. For me on 50cc it is always full throttle and control with the rear brake.

I really appreciate your explanation on the CVT. Can I please ask some advice? Sorry in advance for the long message. What if I have a Chinese GY6 50cc engine with 80cc bbk and aftermarket exhaust with Keihin carburetor and higher gear ratio to get better top end. I haven't done a thing with the CVT except for variator which wasn't much. I think I may even be running my stock rollers again. I know that was stupid not to do anything until now but should I use the 1500 or 2000 spring and what size sliders or rollers should I be running? Also does a performance clutch with larger pads make any performance difference compared to a new stock clutch or should I just concentrate on the springs and weights? I am experiencing a big from like 15-30 mph and it seems like I should be getting a better top end speed. I'm currently getting about 42 flat and 50-52 downhill lol. Can you please offer me some advice? I would truly appreciate your help brother!

I would try some lighter rollers and replace any worn parts on the engine including the transmission. Look to change the clutch springs to 2-3000rpm or even higher if the engine is revving. You will need to check the variator top speed by pen marking the face and riding. This will guide you as to which rollers, this is trial and test, try lighter rollers and then try heavier.. The performance clutch is good but buy quality and try for an adjustable clutch like Polini G3. Check the main jet on the carby make sure there is enough fuel and the engine not running lean..

You think this should be sufficient and then try the marker deal on the variator? Do you know if they make the polini G3 clutch for a 50cc qmb139 Chinese motor?

@@mikecuev820 You are welcome, thankyou for supporting our Channel🙋‍♂️. Yes, try the tighter springs but the engine must be revving to engage with better acceleration. With the rollers/Sliders you must trial different weights to move to a better performing variation. So try 6G and then 6.5G and so on until you have the best performance.. Yes Polini do make a suitable clutch..

You can remove the metal spacer in the roller and drill each spacer out to the exact weight you need.

Does it matter how the rollers go in like it what direction? I noticed one side is showing metal, the other plastic, should it be facing a certain way? TY for your videos

The metal end that you mention is the end in which the metal weight is inserted into the plastic roller housing. The force of the spinning variator can push the metal insert out of the plastic housing if laid into the variator in an anticlockwise direction. So the plastic cover end of the roller should be facing clockwise in the variators fitted position.

Hi ! Impressive video. I have a question . I have a sym hd 300 , polini variator 14g rollers and the blue hard contra, also free dna air filter . The manual says that at 8000rpm max h.power. the rpm has increased from before , and 0-100 very fast but then drop , and the max speed comes vary vary latter and the rpm gies to 8100-8200? What mod would you suggest in order to reduce the drop at higher speeds? And do you suggest a aftermarket muffer?

Thank you.. Try varying the roller weight, Go heavier and then slowly reduce weights, so you can see what the change makes on the road. The spring, try the original spring and then again varying the rollers.

@@christos5635 Aftermarket exhaust: Great sound, more noise awareness for drivers. At this cc it gives good mid-range power and can add to the top speed, you need the variator/transmission tuning and you have the variator.

Great video, explained really well but I could do with some help with my sons 50 Aerox. It pulls off really slow until it gets to 21mph then boom! It picks up & goes really well. However sometimes it pull off as it should, like its actually in 1st with a good pull but hardly ever. Its like its in 2nd whilst trying to pull off & it's the only way I can explain it. Malossi variator installed, changed clutch spring to the white one, changed to Malossi belt, changed to the weights that came with the kit & Malossi air filter installed. All this was to get better top end which as worked (50) but bottom end result is poor! He's only just passed his CBT and I think its dangerous with him trying to pull off like this and trying to get up hills etc. Please help if you can as I want it to be safe. PcG

hey mate what roller weight would you recommend for a vespa s125 model, mine came with 19gx6 stock rollers totalling 114g, but ive currently got 12gx6 rollers installed with a harder than stock contra, this gave me +10km for top speed and higher acceleration. But i think i still havent reached my variators full potential, what roller weight would you recommend? thankss

That sounds like a fairly large increase for the factory variator. The factory variators are very limited in their tuning potential on their own. I'm very doubtful you will be able to get more out of the factory variator. The Malossi variator makes a big difference

Hello julleboy90, all the content is still very relevant👍. You use a shim to increase (spread) the distance between the variator and the fixed face fan. This allows the belt to sit at the lowest point on the front pulley. May be used when a different size belt is used, wider and longer perhaps.. we like to have the belt very ear to the outside of the variator to allow the highest gearing.

I have honda ruckus with NYC variator/ drive face and right now 6g Dr.pulley slider. I can't get the belt to get top of the variator. I've also tried 5.5g and 5g. What would you recommend to get the belt to the top of the variator?

Was the belt going to the top of the variator when the standard face was fitted? Pen mark the Variator face and rev it up on the main stand with the scoter securley fixed and in fron to f a wall so no movement. Does the pen mark get rubbed off all the way to the top? The rollers are most likely heavy enough to take the belt to 100% so it could be the belt length, the belt width or the rear pulley. When the rear pulley is fully opened ( top gear) is the belt at the total centre? Many questions to ask and answer to isolate what the issue can be.. Start now✌️

I’ve got a 2021 znen 50cc. I could be running flat at 35-40mph and hit a hill and drop instantly to 10mph. I weigh under 200lbs. What would be the best set up for this transmission-qmb139 engine?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

The hill is effectively adding more load to the engine so the transmission should automatically lower the gearing. You can better achieve this with lighter rollers in the variator and a heavier torque spring in the clutch but all must be balanced.. Take care not to go too far with these adjustments because ultimately the engine is not producing enough power, consider a big bore kit.

Certainly you should trial some different sets of rollers, The stock usually has 7.5 gram so try the 6.5 g set and note the difference on the hills.

My new Yamaha NMax 155 scooter vibrates annoyingly at 10 KPH when accelerating. Can you tell me if changing the roller weights will fix it, and if I will need heavier or lighter rollers? If it matters, I’m riding a bike that may be made for the Philippines and lighter people, and I’m heavier than the average Filipino.

You really need to find out what is causing the issue. Changing the rollers most likely will not make a difference. Just and idea to check the rear pulley Clutch shoe condition. The vibration maybe engine bushes, a loose part of the engine. Get in there and have a good look making eliminations one by one😉

Hi Marc, difficult to have an exact answer. Like all the other variator questions the best answer is to start at the factory rollers and reduce from there. There are instances where the roller weights are increased but usually lighter will be more effective. Trial and testing.

Great tutorial. I have changed mine to molassi Multivar variator. The rollers are 8 gr. Feel the rpm is high before the bike move. Should I be looking into the clutch springs

@@swimwithcoachraven1532 ok well you are on the right track, RPM higher with a later engagement of the clutch to boost from the start position. Tighter clutch springs will allow the rpm to build, so give the springs a go.

Hi Scooter street! I recently bought a china 2stroke scooter. It had 4g rollers when i got it, they were worn, with flat spots. I replaced them with 6g rollers, it had poor acceleration and top speed then. Now i put in 5g rollers, it seems to have good performance now, but im afraid it is reving too high at high speed. It has leovince exaust on it and stock 50cc cylinder. Can scooters get damaged from reving too high? I dont know how much rpm is normal, no experience with scooters

No, it cant really rev too high so don't worry about high RPM. 2 stroke engines are high revving engines, a near standard scooter such as yours cant really over rev to the point of damage unless there is a serious mechanical issue. You should try the marking of the variator to see if the belt is reaching the top of the variator. Also a heavier torque spring will counter the heavier rollers. Do some trialling and come out with the best outcome for the transmission..

Hi, I have taken off many variatiors, Im tryn to get the variator off of my prescott 50i gy6 and the nut will not come off, I tried my usual torque wrench that always works and my buddy came by with large set of socket wrench and he couldnt do it, have you had a situation where you cant get the variator off and what did you do? Id hate to not be able to upgrade this scooter TY again!!!

That sounds pretty frustrating! Not familiar with that particular make but the GY6 engines obviously all share a fair bit of commonality. I would recommend a rattle gun/torque driver with minimum 350-400Nm torque. In most cases you'll need a fair bit more torque to undo a factory nut than to retighten it. They make have used some thread lock in the factory as an anti-tamper, or it may just be corroded or stuck on. If a rattle gun still wont get it off, I'd recommend taking it to a mechanic.

What makes the more expensive "high performance" variator kits any different than the standard kits you can buy ?

They are developed to increase the effectiveness of the transmission by maintaining optimal RPM. With different weights the variator can be fine tuned. This can increase the acceleration and also top speed. The ramp slot that the rollers are housed have a different angle, some kits have upgraded the size of the guides with smaller tolerances. Often the performance variator is cheaper than the OEM. Saying this, there are cases where the factory Variator will have the same performance as the aftermarket Variator.

Most scooter parts from China labeled high performance are just “cheap replacement” parts. It’s more important that your transmission is properly tuned to keep engine rpm in the power band. The physics is the same no matter how much you paid for your variator.

I have a 22 Honda Air Blade 150 . It came with 16 gram flyballs (rollers) I put in 20 gram , then I removed the air baffle and tube in the filter casing , took it to shop remapped the ECU and oh boy what a differance .Thiking about putting in a little heavier variator spring . It's not for racing but just cruieing and towing a small cargo trailer .

Straight out SUB, Love it😁. What size are your current rollers? Let's say 7.5 gram, try 6 gram and then make small weight adjustments from there. Too light and it will not maintain the pull and over rev so trial and test🎉

@@hvhnubek The GSP use the Minarelli engine so I would expect to see the 15x12 rollers in the Variator. Try a set of roller 15x12mm of 4.8 gram.

Ahhh Walter what have you done Mate..... Tip: Break off the opposing blade, now remove any rough edges on the broken blades (use sanding paper) to make sure no loose pieces would break away during running. Use the correct tools , don't jam anything in there that may damge the blades, we have all done this at one time😁👌

You would nee higher rpm and a variator that is responsive to quick load changes. Increase the torque spring tension and adjust rollers as required.

Using a longer belt will help get you to a higher gear (top speed). You will be limited by the rear pulley, so use a bet that maximises the diameter of the smallest pulley. Do keep the same width on the belt, do not go wider..

Hello, I have a problem, I have a Peugeot Speedfight 1 100cc that recently seized up/heat seized. It was not tuned. I then changed the cylinder, piston etc. It now starts up right away, but after a while it dies all of a sudden (as if you had turned off the key) and then I can start it right up again, this usually happens when I go over 60 km/h or uphill. When I changed the cylinder etc, I also cleaned everything thoroughly, such as the carburettor, intake, new air filter, new fuel filter (there was no fuel filter before) new spark plug. I also removed the oil pump and put a metalplate with a gasket over the hole instead, I now mix the oil directly into the gasoline. Some other info that might be important. - When I drive over 60 km/h, it starts to make a noise from the variator (CVT), it´s sounds quite a lot. - When it died, I tried to start it again while it was rolling and then it started right away, but it made a noise from the variator, like something "let go" that had been seized up, like a rubber sound, maybe from the belt. - The variator belt touches the variator cover on the inside and has grinded a cut in the metal. - In the variator, where the weights are, the belt does not go down to the bottom of the wheel. - The clutch bell had turned blue from the heat. - The place where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft had turned blue from heat. - There was no fuel filter on it before. But i now saw there is an internal fuel filter in the gastank, can it affect the vacuum if you now have 2 fuel filters. Please help me. Regards Andree.

@@scooterstreetau No i did not, i tested the oilpump and it worked, but i am not sure about the flow. Anyway, i removed it and put a plate over the hole, and now i use premix. What could have caused the seizure then, all i can think of is lack of oil.

@@NorthSurvival At times as a bike ages the air and fuel flow changes and you see unbalanced mixtures, there are many variables here, poor air filtering, weather changes, rubber perishing, blockages etc. As a precaution I check all of the systems and their associated parts and also richen the fuel during testing..

@@scooterstreetau I took it for a testdrive today and after a while it stopped, so i removed the variator cover to check how it looked and the axle where the weights are that goes into the engine was stuck, so i turned it a bit and it let go, and after it was a bit hard to start again. What could this be? I checked the fuel line and the vacuum valve that goes into the gastank and they worked, if it was some bad bearings in the engine would that be enough to stop the engine while running? If it would be some bad bearings wouldn´t that just like vibrate a bit more, and not stop the engine all toghether. Could something in the engine have taken damage when it heatsized? If so what is the most likely to have taken damage.

You showed that the belt wasn't going all the way to the edge of the pulley,saying that the extra travel would have been worth a few extra km/h. But you didn't tell us what to do to get the belt to travel the full diameter of the pulley. Could you fill that bit in,thanks.

You have several options. Trial with longer belts without loosing the low gear. Use shims to correct the front pulley spacing without changing the lock nut position on the thread.

Hello, i have a aprilia sr 50 2020 E4 with piaggio engine. The standard rollers on it are 7,2 or 7,5. I changed the rollers to 6,1 but it accelerates very slowly, like the engine revs a bit but i can reach max 45 50 km/ h and it takes a little bit more time than it took when i had the standard rollers

The scooter is designed to go slow according to regulations, it needs to be derestricted in order to gain more power and top speed. Changing the rollers is one part of the puzzle but the CDI/ECU will need mods and also the carby and def. the exhaust.

I put on a 70kit and pipe and changed the carb (12,5 original) to 82 jet, i have 4,6g and it goes great on idle but if you go for full throttle it revs up to 4k and the wheel doesnt even turn around, please help

4.6 is probably too light. Go back to standard rollers or only 1 gram lighter. Now get the carby jet correct first and then come back to the transmission.

I am guessing the Navi follows the PCX transmission, The PCX 2021 variator from Malossi is 5118776. If you check the spare parts and confirm against the original sizes and dimensions of the Navi you may find they are the same.. Do the research first😁👌

I am unfamiliar with this Brand and Model, but I would try a going for 1 gram lighter than the original rollers, tighter clutch spring set and Also look for an unrestricted CDI. Usually the 49cc 4T will accept the 75cc Kit and then your on your way👍

Not essential, changing the spring tension determines at what rpm the clutch will engage. Once you are happy with the roller weight then you can set the clutch engaging.

Leave the standard rollers in if you need top speed. Tuning a variator is all about finding the optimal weight, this gives the highest RPM, the strongest pull and reaches the top speed. If you don't want to go through the task of tuning just try to fit 0.5 of a gram lighter on each roller than the original roller weight. This will give what is required with smallest effort.

Measure and weigh the current ones and try a 5-10% less weight of the same dimension, Stiffer clutch springs will add to the result.

We suggest that you trial different weights to get the bet performance for your set up. Once you find this best performance weight, then find the total weight of all of the rollers and divided this total by 6. This is the weight that each roller should be. If an 8 roll variator then divide by 8.

Your welcome, thank you. If the dimension of the roller is the same and only the weight is different then YES. BUT We use this combination method to find the correct weight for testing only. Once we have found the correct overall weight we prefer to use all rollers of the same weight. example: If you have 3 x 13g = 39 added with 3 x 18g = 54 then the total of all = 93g. Divide the total weight by the number of rollers, in this case 6 and use 15.5gram weight for all of them.👌

Thank you, the rollers for this model are 15 x 12mm and usually weigh in at 8 gram, I would try 6.5 or 7 gram to gain a little rpm. I do know the variator works very well in this model.

The small engine 4 stroke is difficult because it simply produces very little power. Try lightening the roller weight by 1 gram for each roller and use an adjustable clutch to fine tune the engagement of the power to the wheel. Check for derectrictions in the trasmission, carby and the exhaust. Fit a Malossi single air filter and raise the main jet 1 point.

Great video!! I have a question I run a piaggio typhoon with 70cc kit Main carb with 74 jet Malossi exhaust Malossi air filter But the problem is that when I go to a big hill it is like the spring can’t change the transmission (I have factory heavy rollers and factory soft spring from 50cc) is it better to leave the rollers and take a harder spring ? Or is it going to put to much pressure on the belt? If I change the rollers with lighter is it going to lose grip on the belt ? (Sorry for my English ,I hope I am understandable)

Well Thank you😁 we appreciate the views and comments.. A few things, make sure the carby is tuned, the air-mix screw all the way in and then 1 single turn out, set and forget. Is the jet size large enough? Is it running lean? The factory rollers are 7.5. Try a 7.2 or 7 Gram set ensuring the belt is always reaching the outer. Diameter of the variator. I suggest this because it is easier to work out the solution by changing the rollers instead of the Torque spring. By the way make sure the clutch twist rotation is smooth and not stepped.

@@flawlessmusic8850 For variator testing , remove 2 rollers to see if it makes a difference, there are many ways to test with the parts that you already have, I am not to sure about holes in the airbox unless you have the carby tuned to suit.. too much air can lean the mix and the power is reduced and it bogs the engine under heavy throttle..

Good question Theo2. Increasing the RPM and reducing the load on the engine is part of Derestricting the Factory set up. So YES changing the rollers will make an advantage👍. Not too light, try 15% lighter.

Sorry, I still don't get what's the purpose of mixing different weights. Since the heavier weight are always going to go up the ramp faster from the centrifugal force. Also, I don't really get the part how the weight of the roller affect the ride. I get that with heavier rollers it means it will go up the ramp quicker(lower engine rpm) and with the lighter ones it takes revving up the engine more to get the rollers to the edge. When the rollers get to the edge, the belt moves outwards, effectively increasing the gear so to speak, you'd have faster wheel rpm and less torque right? Or is it the other way? That the torque is highest when the rollers are up on the ramp? Does that mean with lighter rollers you'll likely have more torque, better acceleration at lower to mid speed for instance say 20km/h -60km.and with heavier rollers youd have weaker acceleration at the same speed range?

The combined push from all of the weights changes the variator position. The best thing for you to do is to see it in action with a simple experiment. Take your variator and weigh the factory rollers, now place a new set of rollers which is 50% of the original weight. Run a test ride and note the difference. Repeat this experiment with 50% heavier than original rollers and again make notes. The belt moves as the rollers move. YT search the variator in action and you can see this entire experiment.

How do you get the belt to ride higher on the pulley for higher top speed? Everything working well, reving to 7k but top speed seems artificially limited and belt isn't riding up to the edge of the pulley. Advise?

What make and model do you have? It heavily depends on the make/model of the bike - it is slightly complicated. As a general rule, you can install a slightly longer belt to achieve this, but only on bikes where the rear pulley is not closing all the way at idle, and where the factory belt is too short (which is the case on some 50cc 4 stroke models, as well as some of the Euro 4 Piaggio Typhoon and Aprilia SRMT 50 models). If your rear pulley is closing all the way at idle, there isn't much you can do. If you were to install a longer belt, the belt will still sit in the same position of the rear pulley due to the belts width. If you install a longer and wider belt, it will travel further up the rear pulley - but due to the additional width it will also sit further up the front pulley, essentially cancelling out any positive effects.

@@scooterstreetau Thanks! It's not closing all the way - I have to squeeze the clutch to let the belt down in a little just to get it (very tightly) fit over the variator shaft. Where is a good source of belts? I have a belt marked as a 682 20 and would like to go up to what - 692 or more?

@@Cliflyri When you say squeeze it in..to fit it over the variator shaft. This is normal. You need to check the belt position on the rear pulley at idle when the engine stops. Watch more of the Variator playlist videos. Also, Belt manufacturers make many different sizes. Malossi make a 705mm length belt (PN 61 7221) so check them out and find a belt that may suit.

I have no firm answer. You must trial different weights to find this out for yourself. The standard rollers will give the highest top speed but may not allow the best acceleration. A slightly lighter set of rollers will also give the highest top speed and the acceleration will start to increase.. If you reduce the weight by small increments you will eventually find a weight that will no longer get you to the highest top speed (they will be too light to drive the variator to highest belt position). So you need to find the lighter set of rollers that increase the acceleration and also still provide the highest top speed. This will be the optimal set. At a guess try 12-15% less than standard.

I think i am a little confused...If i am right you mean that using lighter rollers we should have more torque and if we use heavier rollers we have more speed. Am i right?

It is so much more complicated than that, the best way to gain an understanding is to fit different rollers weights and see how they effect the movement of your scooter. So try a lighter weight and test ride the scoot, now increase the weight and test again to get a quick answer as to how these change the acceleration and higher speeds.

I just purchased a 2019 metropolitan, how can I make this scoot to hit 45 mph and get there quickly? It's completely stock bought it with only 15 miles on the odometer. Currently it hits 37-38 mph with me weighing 205 lbs.

For 50cc injection 4t, says 7500 max rpm,what rollers would You suggest? And clutch springs 1000 or 1500 rpm?

Rollers at 6 gram, now this may vary and you will have to test with lighter roller (5g) and progress to a higher weight. Clutch springs, go to a medium tension of approx. 2500-3000. 4T 50 don't rev so set a realistic expectation. All the beast👍

Many things to try: After each change test again. Change the rollers to heavier. Replace worn parts and service variator and clutch. Use a performance 9or longer) belt but not Kevlar.

Really good question! We would fit the Variator and the rollers first. Now trial the scooter to notice the difference the variator has made alone. Now go ahead and fit the new spring. Test ride again and you can now compare the performance of the 2 springs, OLD Versus NEW Spring performance. While altering the rollers to suit. This can be time consuming but one spring will give the better performance over the other.

If the restriction is the rollers, or the variator then yes. If the restriction is in the exhaust, then no.

So I had 7g slider weights in my 80cc 139qmb taotao, I went down to 6.5g rollers because I was finding 'bite' marks at the tip of the slider weights. My guess obviously was that I had too much weight, was this right? Tldr, did my variator have weights that was too heavy?

@@scooterstreetau it boggs when I go from a full stop, feels like it wants to quit if I blip the throttle while stopped too. Top speed was occasionally 42-45, now I'll get 40mph and it feels like it's rough on my cvt (rough vibration). Currently has a 91 main jet and I think the spark plug is showing lean (if I'm reading it right)

I have a super 50 , 50cc scooter I install mine with slider roller weights 8 gram . The acceleration was smooth but when I go about 35 or so I can feel the belt is that bad or should I change it ? I also didn't upgrade my clutch just got a new roller weights
