A scary moment as Scott Sabourin gets the worst of a collision with David Backes. The two clashed heads and Sabourin was already unconscious before he hit the ice. Good news as the Senators’ player gave a thumbs up after being stretchered off.

I had the same type of head injury hitting ice in college. I got tripped by goalie coming out on my break away. I remember shooting and that's it. I didn't have the blood on ice, but when I started to come to after about 45 seconds, I started kicking my legs into ice as a reaction. I was helped off ice by a teammate and opposing captain. Only missed one game after the head into ice.

That’s class from the Bruins and Senators. It irks me so bad when the players fight when a player gets accidentally injured. I understand it when somebody is specifically out to hurt somebody.

Backes looked so terrified and distraught. Left the minute Sabourin was taken off. Was relieved to see him give a thumbs up, and even more relieved to see him posting on his Instagram story earlier today. Prayers from Boston, for a speedy recovery.

I think this is the first time I had ever seen a collision of the heads in hockey. It's either a head shot, head first in the boards, or head into the ice. Football shows exactly how terrifying such hits are, but with not much covering the face... just wow. Easily the second worst injury in the game and just as terrifying as a cut from a skate.

This is hockey... This is how it's been always. Respect Some Arenas let them come on the ice, other times they make them stay on the bench This isn't new - it happens to be Saturday night and everybody saw the game so they're noticing it
