The one thing that Les experienced as a coach that usually dooms most longtime coaches is the law of diminishing returns. One you've used one philosophy, one gameplan, and one way of coaching for so long once you're found out it becomes easier and easier for teams to plan for you. People always talk about how Bama's coaching staff is gouged every single year but the silver lining in that is it forces adaptive thinking and the search for a new philosophy in the search of new voices for a new team each year. In Les's case he got too comfortable and quickly fell behind an SEC that was quickly changing from a traditional run heavy style where the game was won in the trenches to one that focused on more spread option passing attacks. Just look at the caliber of quarterbacks lsu fsced at the beginning of mile's tenure then at the end and you can see the difference. Then look at the quarterbacks Les himself fielded.

Your insight is very clear also it’s important to be able to adapt and change things during the game like at halftime are even before halftime if you’re on the ball run run pass punt ,run run pass punt get so old so quick, and he treated Jerrit Lee terribly as well after Jerrit went to Oregon and beat Oregon the first game of the year

Perspective of Les Miles from an LSU fan: -He was a fantastic recruiter (Retrospective: Hot Blondes will do that. I married a brunette, but I get that looks matter. Cite the Hooters Hiring Clause and tell detractors to pound sand) -He had a personality. That’s good considering a lot of coaches are utterly boring. -He was lucky (fantastic recruiting will give you that) -Exciting to watch (On one hand, could take #1 Alabama into Overtime. On the other, needed the largest comeback in school history to beat unranked Troy) -Horrible clock/last minute management. (2016 Auburn may have killed us, but there was Tennessee 2010, Ole Miss 2009, and a few end of game drives at home against Alabama, where a stop means a win) -The Offense. It was College Football’s equivalent of Jose Mourinho; park the bus and maybe we will get a goal and a win instead of a los. Utterly boring play calls (My Dad called it the R2P2 Offense. Run for 2, Run for 2, Pass for 2, Punt), with the occasional flashes of athletic brilliance. Clemson (Even Pre-Championship-Contender) beats a team 70-6, and we probably beat the same team 41-10 in an ugly game, and 14 of our points come from garbage time. 2019 LSU was a perfect example of what happens when the right coaching personnel are in place to extrude the best from their recruited talent. Les never had both.

@@t.k.1319 concrete proof? Bruh, the head football coach (who is married) has no legitimate reason for meeting with female students off-campus, BY HIMSELF. I don't need evidence that he conducted himself in a manner against the basic code of conduct for staff at a school/university. You're not required to believe these women nor that he is guilty of a crime. But I need you to consider that these allegations look really bad for the face of a national FB program. So, if he did NOTHING wrong, why leave and not fight these accusations? Apparently, he did nothing wrong @ Kansas so why leave if everything was "inconclusive"? You know there's some truth here....

@@iluvdissheet "female students"? You make it sound like that these students are in Middle School. #Newsflash. These , are 18 year olds and up! Not 15 year olds and down! Which, Legal Age Laws by the way, are from 18 to 16. Not 18! It ranges from State to State. If the students had agreed to be with him without no complications, then that means it's #legit!
@iluvdissheet
@iluvdissheet 3 жыл бұрын
@@borla4491 That's your point? You're either young, naive or an LSU FAN 🤣😂 Idk why you think "female students" means middle school. That was your 1st mistake. No one is accusing him of being with underage females. So I looked it up, age of consent in Louisiana is 17. By your logic, if he was a 67-yo HS coach, he could date the head cheerleader as long as she was 17 because its "legit" as you said, even if he's married. The 2nd mistake you made is not understanding that #Newsflash its inappropriate for staff to date students regardless of age. Now, im not being an old fart. Idc if he prefers 20 yo women. Im sure there are plenty of young women who would date him. But he called these meetings "mentoring", as if he was meeting with them in a professional capacity. Seriously? Why lie? I don't think its crazy that if the head coach of a nationally recognized FB team, wants to cheat on his wife, he could find someone not associated with his school but I guess thats just crazy talk.

Imagine basing your opinion around the media’s opinion of a coach. They kept saying ten wins, ten wins. When you only look at wins and losses, it’s easy to think he’s a good coach but watching games tell a different story than the final score. Miles was fired from LSU because he was trash!! Unprepared for games, horrible clock management, stale offense and never had answers for why his team lost. Sure He won a natty but his success at LSU was clearly due to a roster full of talent that he wasted. Unfortunately for him, The game started to pass him and his 4 play offense by. Dude was quoted saying, you have to keep doing something until it works. Which is exactly what he did in the Bama game with Fournette. Completely screwed Fournette out of the heisman by being stubborn and continuously running him into a stacked box, basically a brick wall. I think 7 had something like 8 rushing yards after multiple carries by the end of the first half and Miles still didn’t get a clue. Dude was an idiot and is trash without a stacked roster. just take a look at his record at Kansas without the type of roster he had at LSU.

@@VudooChild it’s clear you are a fan. All I am saying, as someone who is not a fan of LSU, 10 wins a year is successful. Try being a fan of a program that hasn’t seen that success in a generation. Remember, not a lot of teams have beaten Alabama in the last 15 years. Probably should stay realistic with your expectations.
@VudooChild
@VudooChild 3 жыл бұрын
@@lowers1987 these expectations are based around the talent we get. If we’re recruiting at a high level, then the expectations to be able to compete and win are extremely high compared to if your team is at the bottom of recruiting. At LSU, Les had the players to compete with any team every year and he slowly started to piss it away.
@keithconnell8460
@keithconnell8460 3 жыл бұрын
lowers1987, 10 wins is nice but LSU couldn't win the ones that actually mattered (for the most part). Les was running an offense that better defensive teams like Bama just salivated at lining up against. His unwillingness to really change up the offense seemed to have doomed him as much as anything in the end. That's the root cause of him constantly losing to BAMA and some of the other better teams in the SEC.

He came in behind Saban and kept Saban's staff as he needed to have people in place. Through his 11 years, he went from a title contender to a mediocre program. Pitiful staffing ( picking old friends over more competent possibilities ). He didn't personally recruit, but left that to his DC and OC. His philosophy was if a team executes a play perfectly it will be successful. So a constantly stagnant offensive was blames on a lack of execution. My end came after we were defeated 20 -0 in a National Championship Game with Alabama. We had a 1st string QB who was struggling, and our 2nd string QB had played more than 6 games (6-0) and had brought us to the 1st in the country rating in both polls. He refused to switch QB's and, of course, we were embarrassed. Everyone asked him why he didn't switch QB's in the second half, and he said he would fully explain it in his weekly press conference. His explanation was the straw that broke everyone's back. " We thought we had a better chance at winning the game if we. stayed with our starter." Duh! Wow I hadn't thought of that as a possibility, nor had the other 500000 fans in Louisiana who closely follow the LSU program." That was when I realized what a dead stump Les had for a brain.

Les miles sucked at weekly gameplanning X’s and O’s but he was elite at talent development. How many 2 and 3 star guys became nfl starters after training at Lsu. His in game play calling was ok. But it was really just how fundamentally sound his Lsu teams were that made them good.

What's the difference KU don't care about football they ran off a coach that got within a game of playing for the national title. Now if you could transform it into basketball on grass they might care. Sad thing is since they ran off Mangino and now had no choice with Miles they've become like K State in the 70s. If they can get in a young energetic coach with a personality and give him time they might be able to move into the middle of the big 12 but alumni are going to have to push for it and convince recruits they are going to build into contention. Don't hold your breath.

@@Hunter87788 let's see he had a decent record at Oklahoma State. He had a good record at LSU and was in the national title conversation a lot of the time. He goes to Kansas goes bust. How many coaches have gone to KU got frustrated, flopped, then left? KU DONT CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL!!!!! Why would any coach want the Kansas job unless they wanted a break from the pressure from the administration TO WIN. If a coach wants to win there the culture has to change. Miles didn't become a bad coach when he was there he was at a bad program. If Kansas cared about football they would have found a way to keep Mangino. He built a good base then they promptly broke it down. Don't blame miles because the program stinks.

A tragedy is when you get fired from your job and you don’t have 15 million in the bank and they don’t pay you off of $15 million I just wonder why the girls didn’t speak up when we were having problems with them anyway then why would you want to give a mediocre coach a contract extension run run pass punt run run pass punt run run pass punt you would think that eventually maybe you could do something different and treat your players fairly not reward players that have been out at the bar room getting in brawl , Nick Saban spent his time here turning the team around and making LSU great again Les Miles spent his time breaking down the team and making LSU crummy again even with all that talent Odell Beckham Jarvis Landry both on the same team we’re thrown to less than 53 times in a season, Jarvis Landry less than that because it’s important to establish the Run Run Pass Punt ideology from 1972 Michigan and some ,a lot , of people took up for him and made stupid excuses for him, then he was rewarded for mediocrity; every little bitty mistake I’ve ever made at a job I’ve been fired for right off the bat ,but somehow he got an extension contract I think when they won eight games by one point against teams that we should’ve been rolling over, frustrating , frustrating and now the girl comes up five years later !? and some people and administration knew about at that time , why not use that as leverage to fire him ? I'm no saint and I love beautiful and even half beautiful women , I hope that I would find a way to get my fix in a better way , I will say Les over achieved ,regardless of the past and all those crummy games i had to SUFFER through , I hope Les is taking all this with a grain of salt like he did with the media .
