Fun fact about the Zelda Collector's Edition - it was the first time you could play the games in PAL regions at 60hz. Normally games _from_ PAL regions get speed-adjusted for export (like the WipEout series), but for some reason, many Japanese companies didn't bother to do it the other way. It definitely mattered to them though, as Capcom would speed adjust games like Test Drive 5 to run at the correct speed when importing. Anyway, I still have my copy from way back when. I got it at Toys R Us in a bundle with Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon Box, the GBA cable, Monster Jam, Scorpion King and the Zelda set. It also came with a really sweet bag to hold it all in! It was also like, £100 or £120. Toys R Us was like that sometimes. I remember them having N64s for £99, but the games were £63,99 (initially...). Funny, because they cost that much now, yet people are more prepared to pay for them at the price, even including inflation. Seems like a racket to me.

A great thing about the Kirby Collection is that it has Kirby's Dreamland 3 front the SNES, which was super expensive on physical media. If you want all the main line Kirby games on physical media, this was the thing to get.

You don’t have to beat Advance Wars 1 to unlock 2, but there is a little warning message if you try to play 2 first that says it recommends completing 1 before going into it due to story and gameplay continuations

lol they put that Wind Waker demo and the short video on the Collector's Disc just to fill the extra space on the disc more than likely. All those games took up only a fraction of the disc's capacity.

I am so happy to see that Scott bought Advance wars 1+2 reboot camp. To answer his question, you don'T actually need to beat the first game to play the second. In fact, they will tell you that you can unlock it right now, but it may spoil the end of the first game since the main badguy is show at the very beginning of the second game. Now if only Nintendo could finally patch some of the massive issue in the game that are still present more than a year after...

Re: Zelda Collector's Edition, the port of Majora's Mask was prone to crashing at random, and the sound jutters a bit when moving between areas. It was my first time playing through MM, and the tension from the constant threat of crashing was real.

I found it so strange that the Wii version of Mario All Star is missing Mario World like WTF?

20:57 not a lot of people know this but they did update 3D all stars in 2021 so that the N64 online controller will work properly with Mario 64

Another way to get that Zelda Collector's Edition Promotional disc was to fill out a form from a Nintendo Power issue, which is how I got mine. Didn't know it was also a part of a Gamecube bundle.

I know 3D All Stars isn't great but I will defend it for these 3 points: It was the first time some of the cutscene music in Sunshine was released isolated from sound effects and speech First time the Shindou version of 64 was released in English Sunshine's widescreen is still more polished than any fanmade widescreen solution for Sunshine (at least that I'm aware of)

It's sad to hear that the NES/SNES classics sit on most people's shelves. In my house, both consoles get regular use. My dad relives his childhood regularly with the NES classic and I get to experience games of old on the SNES Classic (with save states XD). I absolutely love these little consoles and wish there were more releases like an N64, GCN, Wii, GB, GBC, VB, GBA, DS, DSi, 3DS, or 'N'3DS

Imteresting note about the Wii Sports + Resort combo disc: the two save files it makes for each game are different from the save files the two discs make. In other words, you can't use the same save data for your Wii Sports disc as you can with your Wii Sports + Resort Combo Disc's Wii Sports mode.

I loved the Zelda collection for the GameCube. As a kid I used to think the WW demo was time based instead of progress based so I tried to get as far as I could as fast as I could then realized it ended at the same spot every time.

I appreciate you going into detail about the pros/cons and the differences between official and unofficial emulation roughly midway into the video I think. As someone who really hasn't dabbled with hacking or experimenting with illegal emulation in any capacity whatsoever before, you really cleared up and demystified what's the appeal to both in a succinct way. And in case there are those wondering why I have never engaged with illegal emulation before, it is not stemming from this moral superiority and moral righteousness/high ground, instead rather it is from a severe lack in technical expertise and skill and also I am absolutely petrified to even attempt or go near illegal emulation for fear of what it could result in for my PC and the consequences that could ensue if I screw something up on the technological side of things

I don’t know why, but for some reason I really wanted that Puzzles & Dragons game when I was younger. It was literally one of my most wanted games when when it released in the US.

I remember as a kid seeing the cover of Super Mario All-Stars on the cartridge and not realizing it was actually a collection of older games. Instead because of Mario's suit I assumed this was like a circus themed Mario game with tons of different power-ups and characters across the series. It was still really cool to play them though, and was how I found out that the Super Mario Advance games were themselves also rereleases of older titles after realizing they had some of the same games as in this collection.

Nintendo Puzzle Collection is a very interesting release by itself. Yoshi Cookie is a remake from the SNES version, Panel de Pon is a cancelled N64 game, Dr. Mario 64 never released in Japan and the game itself never released outside of Japan, even with the game had been shown at 2003 E3.

Emulation aways runs easily for me on PC, but like, connecting those controllers can actually be pretty annoying for some reason. Also downloading roms online is piracy, (I'd totally never ever do such a thing, never, totally) so official releases are definitely appreciated.

Funny enough, the Mario 1 "breaking bricks" weirdness of Mario just going through them instead of bouncing back down was because the variable for causing a rebound on impact was accidentally reversed in the All-Stars version; this meant Mario basically ascending into blocks, or at the very least wasn't working correctly. There's a hack out there to fix this one little thing.

Metroid Prime Trilogy has to be my favorite Nintendo collection to this day. I mean, you have three amazing games all bundled together, two of which are given new motion controls and that you hop in and out of at anytime. I was more than glad to find a copy at GameStop while I was still, and while Metroid Prime Remastered is amazing on its own, I hope Prime 2 and 3 eventually get brought to Switch on their own. Though one collection I’m still crossing my fingers happens is a double pack of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. Being that they’d both WiiU ports, and I can’t see Nintendo releasing them individually. Then again, they rereleased Luigi’s Mansion 2 and DKC Returns for full price, so what do I know?

Considering that these vids are finished days before their actual release, I am sure the cursed announcement of a 60 dollars switch port of DK "the one before tropical freeze" happened after Scott did this vid.

Shame we never got the Kirby collection in Europe for a system with a region lock. Glad that the game's ISO file still found the way to my Wii's harddrive. The new challenge stages are a great bonus.
