This is great! Two legends talking about and reminiscing about their incredible careers and about Elvis. Perkins always respected Elvis and knew he was the King even though he was a rival in the beginning. He was lucky that Elvis covered Blue Suede Shoes which probably made him some good royalties because it was a million seller!

Great video, it must be very awkward when one of these music greats are interviewed and most of the questions are about elvis. I saw a perkins interview where 3 out of 3 people who phoned in asked questions about Elvis, was there any rivalry, what was it like touring with Elvis or recording in the same studio as Elvis. Hell, I've seen Little Richard and Other people who were great being asked a barrage of questions about Elvis

Carl Perkins had a severe car accident about the time of Blue Suede Shoes which lost him momentum to capitalize on it. Both Scotty on Elvis and Carl had versions of Blue Suede Shoes but Elvis version less hillbilly and more jet propelled rockabilly.

I had not realized until later, that the 45s were microgroove recordings and in stereo, at the time Elvis and Scotty were recording. We had such a shitty record player, but still, it sounded very wonderful to us. I'm talking about the 50s in case anybody missed that. Scotty's guitar had an unbelievable sound that I can only compare to (and it's a different sound, but just as distinctive) Brian Setzer's Gretsch. All the other guitars are just meh. Even Les Paul's. Well, his was pretty good. I might include him in the bunch.

Elvis is still ALIVE !! That was NOT Elvis in that casket ! It was a Wax Dummy ! That is what was in the 900 lb Copper Casket along with a portable cooling unit to keep the Wax from melting.Everyone that observed the '' body '' in the coffin noticed that the forehead had '' beads of moisture ''. Gene Smith, Elvis's 1st cousin, said that the Sideburns had been glued on and kept coming loose! Gene also stated that one could feel the ''chilled air'' all around the casket that was coming from a cooling unit within the coffin. When Gene asked Vernon where Elvis was , Vernon replied , '' He's safe, Don't worry ,He's Upstairs resting. We had to put something on display for the fans ! '' ELVIS did NOT Die on August 16, 1977 ! NO ONE is actually buried there at the Meditation Garden in back of the Mansion. Only the top layer of sod was removed for the placement of the Bronze Memorial plaques ! Those are just there for the Fans and the Tourists. All of Elvis' family members that have done passed on are buried somewhere else in a undisclosed Private Cemetery and ELVIS IS Very Much STILL ALIVE ! He never really stopped making his music ! He has been recording and making music all this time . He just can''t release any of his songs using his real name anymore because of EPE,Inc. He has been using different alias ever since.Elvis Aron Presley is sometimes Jon Burrows and several other various ''alias''. He staged and faked his death with the help and knowledge of Col. Tom Parker, Dr. '' Nick '' , Joe Esposito , and the FBI by doing a '' Body Swap '' with a Terminal Bone Cancer patient Roscoe Scott Holloway of Germantown, TN of whom Dr. Nichopolous had located. Incredible that Col. Tom Parker, a Dutch illegal immigrant who worked his passage to America then jumped ship with no passport wrangled Elvis's contract by getting business partner Hank Snow to come with him to Memphis to get Elvis's parents to sign. Elvis's mother was a Hank Snow fan the Colonel found out. A true swindler but Elvis didn't care cos Tom Parker made him rich and Elvis made Parker rich! Scotty should have talked about Parker talking Elvis into sacking him, Bill Black bassist and D.J. Fontana drummer.

I am not taking anything away from Elvis's innate talent but without Scotty's innovative and original guitar licks, I doubt Elvis would have progressed being anything beyond a good local country singer. I have listened to some all time great guitar pickers from Clapton, Knopfler, Burton etc and no one has come close to replicating Scotty doing Mystery Train.
