I fostered a guinea pig who came from an abusive and neglectful situation and was unable to bond with other pigs, but I used your taming advice and formed a huge bond with him. He even got to where he liked being picked up and would curl up on my shoulder for naps. Every one of your videos I took to heart. He unfortunately had a stroke and passed a couple months ago. Thank you for this channel and giving me the ability to give him as good of a life as possible.

Back in 2012 when I started to have guinea pigs as pets, there wasn't as much information about them as much as there is now. Which I am so grateful to have this channel as a resource. There was so much misinformation out there. The guinea pig community is continuing to grow and learn new stuff about their fur babies everyday. Which is super fantastic! Thank you for your videos!

I cut a piece of that rubbery shelf liner stuff, and put it in my bathroom sink for bath time so they don't slip & slide. Worth mentioning to make sure to thoroughly rinse them, residue from the shampoo can cause skin irritation and drying. Billy is just the cutest!! He was so cute in the tub 😆

Watching your video made the job so much less daunting and my boys were so good the whole time. I now have two fresh smelling and very soft shiny piggies 😊

I heard that you rarely need to give guinea pigs a bath unless they have ringworm or very dirty, They are prone to getting respiratory infections, but watching Billy being bathed was adorable 😁

My daughter will be 8 in June and she was promised a Guinea pig, she knows before getting anything she has to research because once she agrees to get a pet she is responsible for all the care. I will buy what it needs but the care is all her. She watched the rescue videos and yours. The lady backed out and didn’t get her the piggy. We wait and found petco had two males that was dropped off in a box. We adopted them because they can’t sell them once returned. She loves watching your videos. They both had bad care, lack of vitamin C and very dirty we are about to give them their first baths and wanted to watch this video first. I’d like to mention something about the bottles if that’s ok? Pls make sure all of the piggies can get to one easily without fighting over it. I had that problem with bunnies. Keep cool everyone! 🖖

I don't know who I love more, Scotty or Billy. :) Just a couple of suggestions: First, get everything ready first including having two bath towels within arms' reach. No looking for a towel with a wet gp in your hands! Second put a wash cloth or towel on the floor of your dish pan. You gp's won't slip and slide and they will be far more calm. Third, put the water in the pan first while your gp is in another room. Then fill a plastic pitcher with warm water and use it to fill (and refill) a 2-cup plastic measuring cup with a pour spout to rinse your gp to avoid the sound of running water, or accidentally using water that is too hot or cold!. I use fragrance free, plant based 'dreft' Bottle & Dish Soap to shampoo my gp's. (I haven't needed a medicated soap yet.) My gp's are so soft and shiny after being shampooed with dreft liquid soap (meant to use on baby bottles.) My gp's usually get a bath before visiting the vet. The vet and vet techs always comment about how soft and shiny my gp's are, and I don't freak out if my gp's accidentally eat or drink a little bit of their bath water. I learned all this stuff through trial and error. I love Scotty and his video's. I think he kisses his babies as much as I kiss mine. :)

What I did with my old man GP when I was a baby he smelly so we had a one of those industrial laundry rooms sinks so we put towels on the bottom to act like a filter so it will filter out the poop and other things so I did was we just rubbed them down with some water not too hot not too cold just warm enough that he will enjoy it so we put some soap in our hands and rubbed it on his back and he was enjoying it and I told him just look at me nothing to be worried about and it seemed to use enjoying it to this day that's my little style a towel to act like a cushion and a filter and just some peace and quiet to just let your guinea pig relax and enjoy being scrubbed

You are a great person. We need more people like you. My daughter has two guinea pigs that my wife and daughter take care of. We thought that guinea pigs were not to get wet. What a misconception we were under. We do change their woodchip bedding every few days to keep them clean and fresh.

Just a tip! Guinea pig’s skin can be very sensitive so it’s best to use a shampoo made specifically for them! Also it is better to towel dry since the blow dryer can be pretty harsh. You can find shampoo at your local pet stores. Don’t get any shampoo near their eyes either!

I recently started using a small plastic bin set in my sink too! It's also nice to know when my ideas aren't foolish. I used to be sorely misinformed about how my bathing my boys need, so unfortunately I never got them used to getting soaked, so they can get very wriggly during bath time. I don't have the luxury of letting dear Havik soak in particular, so I'm thinking of trying more frequent rinses & quick washes while the weather's warm so that he'll hopefully be less inclined to jump out every ten seconds when the weather is poor for bathing.
