People seems to forget Ødegaard still has 5-6 years until he should be close to his potential, and even after that he can still play for 15 more years. He isn't supposed to be playing for a big club like Real Madrid or some other top club (from other top leagues) yet. Real Madrid is doing the right thing by letting Ødegaard develop in his own pace with lots of support from his team.. Did other clubs show him the same support that they did? Did they bring their own private jet to Norway? Would he be mentioned by Cristiano Ronaldo in any other club? Probably not... Are their training facilities better? No, so please, ignore comments from people who think they know better than some of the world's best coaches and scouts who has a knowledge base people aren't aware of, apparently. You know that R. Madrid are spending billions of $$$ on player development; coaches, chiefs, scouts, facilities in general, young players lifestyle et cetera. Of course they can still fail with Ødegaard, but until now it's too early to say, and if you take a look at how many top players and who they have produced in the last 25 years, they certainly know what must be done in order to develop players correctly. Raúl, Casillas, Guti, Juanfran, Cambiasso, Saúl, Morata, Mata, Carvajal... Maybe there are some younger guys reading this (age 9 to 15) and you better realise now that athletes are supposed to be at their best in their 20s. It requires hard work that needs to be perfected for years to succeed because competition is so huge. It's all about who wants it most, but more important, you have to enjoy it. Now, how old is this guy on the video again? Read some articles or books, ask your parents or uncles or your football coach, please learn how talent management in football works before you embarrass yourself even more on YT. This isn't FIFA Career mode...

He has 2-3 years to prove that he is a great talent like martial, sane, ihenacho... are today. You wont reach your highest potential with 23 maybe with 27-29

Besides the fact that Ancelotti already said the whole odegaard transfer was a big PR gag. Real simply got him because of the reputation and attention. it's as simple as that. you talked about the billions they invest in coaches and facilities? I'd rather say they spend billions in the image and value of their club on the world wide market. Look at pulisic, renato sanches or dembele. they actually play in 1 league football since more than a year now. Real is developing him in 3rd league. What a great place to be for a talented 17 year old every club wanted a few years ago. I just don't think he will ever make it to first team in that club for longer than a few weeks.

Good player for him to thrive he needs to play closer to the goal. The reason he's got such low numbers in terms of assists and goals is because he starts all his attacks too deep and by the time he's reched the edge of the box he's used up alot of energy.He'd be more effective behind the strikers or even up top kind of like a false nine.He's an attacking midfielder but he started all of his dribbles/runs in the oppositions box which is too deep.

Ødegaard isn't a goalscorer, at least not at this point. His best match to date for the first team was against Bayern Munchen in the pre season tour (USA), where he played to the right in a 4-3-3 midfield. Looked a bit like Iniesta, just lacking the key passes which he used to be more promising at two years ago. We'll see how he developes when he goes to Rennes or Gladbach in January on loan.

Or the reason is that he is the guy passing the ball before the assist. Off course he should have had more goals and assist, but playmakers like him usually opens up the game for the assistant and goalscorer. He's a canopener. Dont forget that. Football should have been like ice hockey where not only the assist gets a point, but the third pass from goal as well.

he must learn that simple, small passes can be the better solution sometimes. in so many situations he could have just passed. if he made a small run then to get the ball back it would be so much more efficient and less risky. players like kante would eat him up and spit him out.

He's not bad at all. He just chose the wrong club to play for. Teams like Madrid and Barcelona, it's hard to break into the starting 11. If James, Isco, and Turan can't even break into their team's starting 11 and can't be a regular starter then there's no way Odegaard would do it. But he's still young and has a lot of potential. He dribbles with ease and his awareness of where his opponents are is really. good. He just lacks the final pass he makes to his teammates in the attacking half. He's really good for his age but he needs to mature his game if he wants to play for the first team like how Pulisic does with Dortmund. Dortmund, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Ajax would've been a good fit for Odegaard because they give their young players chances to play and develop with the first team players. He'll get better in the future.

Madrid isn't a team for youth players their mentality is to purchase recognised individuals. The kid has potential unknown to what degree like all youth players but u require them to take strides in their development, football IQ, physical growth, etc not baby steps as what is occurring now. Keeping him in the senior team even if u don't play him but merely train him (in practise) to the level that is require that way u have an ace up your sleeve for future situations (too many players suspended, Resting certain players, Growth to injury list).

De acuerdo, y la mayoría de nostros se mos olvida que este chico tiene 17 años. Y se le exige más de lo que se debe, se entiende que se tiene grandes expectativas de él, porque el talento lo tiene y de sobra, pero se le tiene que tener paciencia. Le llegó la fama muy rápido, y pensar que ni está a la mitad de aprendizaje y evolución en este deporte. Si a esta edad ya sorprende lo que hace y se sabe que puede mejorar, Ødegaard será una bestia en este deporte a la edad de 21-22 años. Y, aún a esa edad estará lejos de su máximo potencial ( 26-28 años )

Martin is a great talent, but Liverpool may just have gotten hold of (some time now) an even greater Norwegian prospect; Edvard Tagseth. He might just surpass even Martin, we'll see. He's a wonderkid for sure though.

He needs to be more active in front of goal , we need to see more shots on target , that has been his big problem since he joined the club. Great skills and passes , but that is not enough if you want to play for the greatest clubs in the world.

I agree, but all those aspects he will improve in future. The problem is that most of us forget about his age, he is only 17 years old, soon 18 years old and still he will have 2 years to have 20 years old. Now imagine the beast this kid will be....Patience.

He is obviously talented. His dribbling is excellent in tight spaces but his decision making is poor. He takes far too long to shoot leading to all his shots being blocked and a lot of times he picks the wrong pass or delays the final ball too much. If he works hard he will become a top player in the future

Ødegaard will be better than all "10" players. He have the vision, ball control, the understanding of the game concepts, key passes, timing, trough balls, nice dribling, and a decent pace. it is obviously that this kid will improve in all aspect trough the years to come. 17 years only.

He will never be a player like Messi, Neymar or Ronaldo, because he lacks speed and shooting ability as you said. Compare him to a classic number 10, like Silva, Ozil, Mata, Pastore, Kagawa, Giuliano etc.

Ajax being the top producer of football stars must be the biggest myth in world football right now. When was the last time they produced a top player? Probably Eriksen, who isn't more than a very good Premier League player.

Jerry Rämänen 1995 is 21 years ago. It isn't relevant anymore. Their playing style definitely helped forming Barca and their style of play, but giving all the credit to Ajax is pretty far out. Anyhow, I don't see how that is an argument to why Ødegaard should have chosen Ajax. They haven't delivered a top player to one of the big leagues in years. The Dutch league is weak, and so is Ajax.

No it's not. James is not skillfull and Bale is a physical type player. One of Martin Odegaards biggest weakness is physical. Martin also does a lot of skills in contrary to James. Plus James takes a large ammount of shots per game because he is so good at long shots something Martin hasn't showed us. If he is any Madrid player he would be a midfield version of Marcelo with less defensive qualities

+Jack Freidel Maybe you're right, but look, he's fast (like Bale) and he sometimes take the defenders off by just running, he has very good dribbling, but he hasn't a lot of skills and (like James) and he makes very good passes (like James). Like I said before, maybe you're right. I haven't watched him too much, but from what I have watched, my opinion is that his similar to Bale and James.

He plays way more like Isco, great dribbling, not with a lot of skills just dribbling. He is pretty fast, but not Bale's level. He isn't really physical like Bale either. He has good passing, but still plays way more like Isco than James :)

His physic have actually improved quite a lot only the last year according to his old team mates that he now plays whit at Norway's U21 team, he is in a age where men normally build muscles. If you look at pictures off a 17 years old Bale you will see a quite skinny young man :) Give him time to develop at his own pace, if you look at a player like Mahrez (player of the year in premier league last season) he played in Frence ligue 2 just a few years ago.

Strenght isn't a weakness in modern football if your brain is fast enough. Also He has good technique and vision but NEVER shoots, only 1 goal.. Definitely isn't ready yet for the first team, maybe one more year to improve his mentality, He's not a consistent player at the moment.

Remember that he is still just 17 and in the last weeks he have put up a few really good performances for both Castilla and Norway's U21 team. He need time to develop in his own pace, I also think its a good thing that he doesn't play for the Norwegian national team at the moment. He is more than good enough but for his development he really don't need the extra attention and pressure the media in Norway put on his young shoulders.

I can't see why you guys think that he should've gone to Ajax. We've seen a lot of young talents from small clubs who develop their arrogance and selfishness just because they're the only star at their club. Odegaard was just like that, he dribbled all the time and rarely passes the ball. Look at him now, he is being more of a team player just the way they developed Messi at Barcelona.
